A wonderfully sculptural pair of vintage Viking pheasants with beautifully aged silverplate and rich, iridescent patina. Originally designed as salt and pepper shakers, this striking pair is offered strictly as decorative vintage objects. Each bird stands upright on a round pedestal base, with detailed feathering, curved crests and expressive profiles. The removable heads reveal the original shaker construction, while the aged finish has developed rainbow layers of silver, charcoal, bronze and subtle blue-green tones that emphasize the cast details. The underside is marked VIKING, identifying the pair with Viking electroplated wares. Comparable Viking examples are documented as electroplated over lead, making decorative display the appropriate use today. Their unusual figural form makes them especially appealing as collectible bird decor, displayed together on a shelf, bar cabinet or among other vintage silver objects. Details: • Era: Circa 1950s–1960s • Material: Electroplated metal over lead • Condition: Good vintage condition with substantial oxidation, tarnish and loss/wear to the plated finish, creating a multicolored aged patina; removable heads remain intact • Dimensions: 4.5 in H each • For decorative use only. Not intended for contact with salt, pepper, food or other consumables.
