As I've mentioned elsewhere, vintage interior decorating books are always so fascinating -- I love the way they reflect the styles, influences, and aspirations of the time period they portray. Some things look classic while others have become cringe. It's a goldmine of anthropological insight.
"Introduction to Interior Design is one of the most interesting and practical books to be written on the field of home furnishings. It is the result of four years spent in writing a weekly column for the readers of the women's section of the Toronto Globe and Mail. The ensuing fan mail and the response from adult classes on the subject led the author to feel that there was a demand for a book which dealt with decorating in the terms of the layman with the emphasis on home furnishings avail-able to the homemaker of the aver-age income bracket.
This book is designed to provide the new housewife, apartment dweller, and home owner with sufficient information for the execution of the most attractive and unusual rooms possible within a given budget."
