The Story of the Givenchy Rottweiler: First shown in Givenchy’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection, Riccardo Tisci’s Rottweiler design marked a shift where luxury met streetwear. The image came from an old Boy Scout book he found, printed large across a black jersey shirt.
Tisci told GQ he saw the dog as “power and sweetness,” not violence. That mix of strength and sensitivity reflected his dark romantic aesthetic.
The shirt’s bold look and limited release turned it into a status piece worn by many significant artists during the Watch the Throne era. Its scarcity and high price gave it the same kind of hype usually seen in streetwear drops.
Tisci later posed with a real Rottweiler for Interview Magazine, showing the animal as both fierce and loyal, much like his own creative identity.
