[Edit to add: The seller replied that the residue may be Oxiclean, as they soak their items to remove scent. May not have fully rinsed off. I was able to find lots of tips to rinse it out. Grateful for the reply!] The sweater is lovely. Seller’s description, especially of the colour, was very good. They obviously have a good eye. It has a scent, though not an unusual amount, but also an odd almost greasy coating. Maybe laundry product build up?
