Edit: I handwashed item after communication with seller. The mildew smell was likely caused by slight dampness when packed. After washing no trace of mildew. *The costume was as described. My one issue was that it has an unpleasant smell (kind of mildewy), probably just from being stored. I still think the item is in good shape and the price was good. I am hopeful a handwash will take care of the scent.
