I think there is a direct relationship between the length of time I've had a Poshmark account and how overwhelmed my closet has gotten with purchases... So I feel your pain! No fixture has broken on my end, but I did just get another hanging organizer this week in order to accommodate more sweaters and pants :( Haha. That's cool that you work in fashion! What kind of things do you do?

I'm sure you know all the ins and outs of labels, sales strategies, and seasonal fashion changes -- jelly! A totally random question -- and I'm not sure if it's one you would have an answer to, but here goes! I've been trying to keep my eye out for the stuart weitzman 50/50s in napa. Do you know what the best strategy for catching one on sale might be? Figured I'd ask :P And I got into Poshmark on a whim -- I was searching for a specific Free People item and found it on Poshmark. Back in those days you could interface with listings without needing to sign up and that one search spiraled into many searches, which lead to my putting up my own listings eventually. How did you find this site yourself? :)

thestarrynight @jabberwocky Love how you transitioned from Posh customer to seller! I found out about Poshmark after one of its competitors approached me. You have a great eye for product and styling! What line of work are you in? The SW boots are super cute. I'd recommend (1) attending SW's sample sales in NYC where they'll likely have the most stock (sales are usually in Jun/Dec: http://nymag.com/urban/guides/nyonthecheap/shopping/calendar.htm) or your local area, (2) signing up for the brand's emails for access to online promotions/coupons, (3) visiting Neimans/Saks/Nordstrom/other SW-carrying retailers in Nov-Jan during Fall/Winter markdowns, (4) checking for SW on flash sale sites like Gilt and RueLaLa. You could also try calling your local SW store for more info on their typical sale calendar. Hope this helps!

You might also want to sign up for major retailers' emails as they sometimes do decent site wide promos that could help reduce the pain of buying these boots. Not sure if/how often 5050s go/are available on sale given their popularity.

jabberwocky @thestarrynight You are such a generous human being! I so appreciate the thought and time you put into this!! I checked out the NyMag link and learned for the first time that Stuart Weitzman seems to do its biggest sale in June (come to think of it I do think my mom ordered her SW stuff during that time -- maybe she was onto the sale game much more acutely than I was!). I will be keeping my eyes out for seasonal mark downs at the major stores, but what with the present season (and my inability to go in to physical stores thanks to all the snow out here), it may be a while until I get my hands on a pair! How do you like BlueFly? Their prices look pretty unbelievable. I do remember seeing the boots on Amuze.com, hesitating on pulling the trigger, and then missing out on the biggest deal on 5050s that I ever saw. To answer your question about line of work -- I am currently in law school studying to become a lawyer :)

thestarrynight Oh ok - almost done with 1L then! Congrats on landing your summer associate role :). Is 2L summer recruiting already happening..? You'll be in NY for many of the best spring/summer sample sales :). FYI, luxury brands and retailers usually do Spring/Summer markdowns in May/Jun (30-40% off), Jun/Jul (50/60% off) and Jul/Aug (70%+) and then repeat the process in Nov-Jan for Fall/Winter collections. Sample sales happen year-round in NYC but tend to cluster in Jun-Sep and Nov-Jan.

thestarrynight Based on your closet, I'd highly recommend shopping Bergdorf/Saks/Barneys/Bloomingdale's in Jun (mid marks) Jul/Aug (final marks) when their Spring/Summer merch goes on sale. Ive scored several *triumphant* steals (am literally smiling in nostalgic joy as I type) from BG during sale season (first rule of working in fashion: never (ok, rarely ever) pay full-price for product - margins for fashion are rich, and both luxury and mass brands budget to move quite a bit of their goods on sale).
