soultea@tsavage1972 This has a solid clear/white quartz crystalline center, polished smooth on 3 sides. The back of it is rough which is how it would be before they cut into the center and polish it beautifully so you can see the inside crystalline structure better. I am not a gem and crystal expert but from my research and comparison the reddish-orange ring surround the quartz center seems to be carnelian. It is a beautiful specimen and weighs over 2 pounds.
