@zazasmom hi there. The size 12 measures 17” across. There is a side zip and no give in the fabric. I am a standard consistent size 6 and I wear these pants in size 4. Cartonnier tends to run a size large. But, these pants are so great! I actually modeled the 12 in the photos, they just hung on my hips and they still worked but i have my own pair in size 4 now. Love these pants
