Is the hat brown or black. It is listed as black, but it looks brown.

@fbutler01 It is black, but the fur texture gives it a luster and dimension that a flat felt texture does not have. it is a unique hat. if you need anything else let me know.

the band is brown, so it could be worn with both black and. brown.

This hat can be shaped and reshaped to your style. It is 100% beaver which will last a lifetime. Most hats today are blended with other less durable materials. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions

@friesy2k3 Thank you. it should fit perfectly. you are right under 71/2 which would allow it to fit nicely and not tight if you like to wear it a little lower on the forehead

also an insert will tighten it if you prefer.

Hi. Is the hat labeled as beaver felt somewhere? Rabbit and hare is more common for a grizzly finish because of the long hair. Thanks Jeff

@jeffcasey273 my dad is well versed in beaver hats, and he will not buy anything that is not 100% beaver. I will check it for you. Newer hats are often made from blended materials. This is a vintage hat made before makers scrimped on material.

I restore vintage hats and make a few every now and then as a hobby. I don't buy any of the large name brand hats unless they are 40 years old or older because the quality just isn't there.
