Abalone sea shell lotus flower earrings

brand new never worn Water Lilly / lotus flower turquoise earrings. Hand carved / hand made using abalone sea shell / paua shell. These gorgeous earrings shine and *glow* with turquoise, blue, gold and green tones. Paua refers to the colorful, iridescent shell of the new Zealand abalone, a marine snail known for its vibrant blue, green, and purple hues. Its considered taonga (treasure) by the Maori people (indigenous new Zealanders) and is used in traditional carving and modern jewelry. Paua are harvested sustainably from rocky coastlines with commercial catches limited by strict quotas to ensure population health. These photos dont do the iridescent color justice. The lotus is a special flower in many cultures. In Indonesian Hinduism it is considered a spiritual flower able to survive on three planes : water, air and earth. It symbolises strength, adaptability and transcendance.
