Vintage Velvet Wrap Dress in Royal Purple, Circa Late 70’s/Early 80’s

In an ongoing endeavor to bring you unique, slow fashion here is the most beautiful vintage (late 70’s/early 80’s) dress, crafted in lush jewel-tone amethyst velvet. It was made by the now-defunct Playlord brand, in business from 1967 to the early 90’s. The dress has the sweetest puff sleeves, and the flattering wrap-style bodice is accented with sheer crinkled chiffon ruffle trim (in a slightly lighter purple), cascading along the collared neckline and hem, creating lovely movement and texture. Finished with a wide, self-tie sash belt for a feminine silhouette. Tagged a Vintage Junior Size 9, which equates to a modern XS/S. It measures 17” underarm to underarm, 13.5/14” across the waist (can be cinched with the sash if you have a smaller waist), and is 38” long. You can tie the attached self-sash in a knot, or a bow, depending on your mood. Fastens at the waist with both an interior & exterior button and there is a single hook & eye closure under the V neckline. I’ve carefully stored this beauty for decades and it is in pristine condition!
