Heritage & Authentication Model: Vintage Speedy 40 (Old Model) Era: Early 1980s. This is a highly sought-after "collector's era" piece, featuring the original design with no interior slip pocket. Factory Stamp: "SD" (San Dimas, USA or France) is clearly embossed on the interior leather reinforcement tab where the handle rivet is located. Details: This piece predates the modern numerical date code system, which started in 1982. Vachetta Leather: The handles and trim have been painted with leather acrylic paint. The handles were painted with a black edge coat. There is cracking on the piping as is very common on a bag of this age, but no missing/ open sections. The leather was sealed with an acrylic satin high gloss finisher and then moisturized to help prevent any further cracking. Canvas Repair: The bottom corners of the monogram canvas have been repaired. Please see photos of the DIY repairs & customization. Exterior: Iconic Monogram coated canvas is vibrant.
