I like to use free and clear detergent when washing items and did not notice any strange smells. I'm sorry this got past me. The smell of cigarettes drives me crazy, (I quit over a year ago) Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I've heard stories of people's mail carriers smoking but I think it would take a lot to make a garment smell. Thank you again for purchasing!💜 Vicky
