1800c Antique Persian Qajar Ceramic Horse Sculpture. Hand-Sculpted & Painted Pottery. Qajar Ddynasty Era. Middle Eastern Art. Lead-Glazed Earthenware. This exquisite antique primitive horse sculpture is a rare example of Persian Qajar-era ceramic art, likely dating to the 19th century. Hand-sculpted from coarse, buff earthenware and adorned with a green, amber, and yellowish lead glaze, this piece embodies the rich artistic traditions of the Ottoman and Qajar dynasties. The horse is depicted standing, with a saddle on its back, and features a distinct crackle-glazed finish characteristic of Iznik Qajar-style ceramics. The blue coloration at the base is a common design element in Persian pottery, adding to its authenticity. This type of sculptural faience work was often used as decorative art and, in some cases, as burial goods in the Middle East. The piece appears to have undergone an early repair at the base, further highlighting its long history. HISTORY Based on the style, materials, and glaze technique, your Persian Qajar ceramic horse sculpture likely dates to the 19th century, possibly between 1800 and 1890. CONDITION Perfect vintage condition with some slight signs of wear.
