1890s Calico Patchwork Quilt

This is older than I originally thought, but I just had it looked at by a couple different textile dealers who were outside of my region that I travelled to. They both agree it’s likely 1890s or older. Made from cotton feedsack, calicos and dainty soft cotton material, some of which were hand painted. Very very highly sought after. It was sadly left in a barn, where there was metal items placed on top that became rusty. I have since stored it inside. I am personally obsessed with all things European, tattered, and frayed. The history to this is extremely rich and overwhelming to me at times that things like this have survived. If only they could talk and tell us their story! You won’t find many this old on the market currently, quite a striking piece to admire. Art and textile history! Outside of the stains on this one, the structure of this is amazingly intact for its age. 73” x 63”
