1920s Antique Thomas Mott Butterfly Wing Brooch w Beach Scene overlay. Signed, in Silver setting. A lovely antique brooch with beautiful patina on the underside which is evident from the age of this piece. Small and delicate, as a butterfly wing would be, at 3cm long , and 1cm wide. Signed TLM Sterling England on the underside. Thomas L Mott created these brooches, with an overlay scene of a beach and palm trees, using the iridescence of the butterfly wing to exemplify water and sky. This brooch seems to glow, and colours shift when the wearer moves. A truly unique piece for any collection. Clasp is an antique hook style. What the web says: "Thomas L. Mott jewellery dates from 1875. He instigated the fashion for butterfly wing jewellery after exhibiting at the British Empire Exhibition of 1924. His company was the largest producer of butterfly wing jewellery in the 1920s and 1930s." *Antique items are sold as is, please view all photos and descriptions carefully to ensure that this is the piece for your collection* Tags Antique, 1920s, jewelry, jewellery, brooch, butterfly wing, iridescent, beach, palm trees, glow, collectible, Thomas L Mott, Mott, estate, rare find, Fashion, sterling, silver, signed, stamped
