This is one of the oldest quilts I have ever owned. I have had it looked at by a fellow textile dealer and quilt appraiser. This is called cathedral window design, and it is completely 100% hand stitching throughout. It likely took years to make. Every front piece, is stitched to the backing. When I came into this, it was completely detached throughout and I have spent countless hours hand stitching it back together with period correct upholstery thread. It is made from 1910 railroad canvas sacks, (the cream) and feedback cotton, (the blue)
This is a crazy one, and tough for me to let go. I have worked on this long enough to make my eyes bleed and need to start other projects, so I am posting as is.
