1930s Silk Evening Gown of Historical Value

This silk evening gown is from the 1930s. It is cut on the bias and is a combination of machine sewn and hand sewn. Its condition is FAIR and is of value as a historical piece or for someone with a great interest in fashion through the decades. It is not meant to be worn in its current state. The bodice features a gathered bus line with cascading shoulder scarves. It has a plunging back. The scarves cascade from the front down the back and fan out in a glorious rush of fabric. This piece has multiple stains and several holes. There also appears to be water stains at the hemline. There is so much to be learned about studying the construction of this incredible art deco dress. This gown was gifted to me by a neighbour of my mother who knew I had studied fashion at University. She attested to the fact it was from the 1930s and was from a relative. I had this gown dry cleaned when I first received it about 25 years ago. It has been in careful Storage ever since. It is my hope that another person working in the fashion industry, a student of fashion, or in the theatre would like to have this piece.
