1934 Carltonware Rock Garden twin handled soup bowl

Carlton Ware ROCK GARDEN twin handled soup bowl ? C.1934 Carlton Ware introduced the embossed Rock Garden design in 1934/35, it was also commonly known as Garden Wall. Rock Garden was produced in 3 colourways: Green (as in this case), peach and grey. The design has embossed circular, ribbed lines and a wall / brick effect etched into the pattern that gives it a definite feel of a garden. A variety of pretty and colourful garden flowers adorn the wall effect of the pattern to set the scene. In excellent clean condition with no chips, cracks, scratches or crazing. T is no wear to the hand painted pattern. The backstamp / pattern dates this piece to C.1934. The impressed shape number on the underside base appears to read 1247 and according to the pattern book this shape is recorded as a soup bowl. Approximate measurements: diameter of base 115mm (4.5 inches) / diameter across top 121mm (4.75 inches) / diameter at widest point 155mm (6.1 inches) / height 48mm (1.9 inches) This wonderful art deco shaped soup bowl would make an excellent addition to someone's collection
