1950s Big Ben Westclox USA mechanical alarm clock cream body dark red sunburst

...face, manual wind-up alarm clock A Big Ben Alarm clock by Westclox, made in the USA, ca early 1950s. The body in a cream toned metal with a burgundy red, subtle starburst patterned face (appears more purple at night). The gold toned surround to the front, the ´glass´ and foot are plastic. It winds up well and keeps time pretty well too. There is a button on the back to adjust the speed, set the alarm / alarm loudness, the time, and to wind it up. There is NO snooze button - it is on or off and the internal alarm bell is quite loud! The hands and numbers on the faceplate are luminous and the glow is quite strong. Be aware that a mechanical clock always makes a ticking sound, which some people find soothing, while others cannot stand it. Condition: winding up and running smoothly. The front with small scuff marks and scratches to the plastic ´glass´. The gold toned plastic surround to the front with wear and losses to the gold finish, mostly to the edges, and then most severely around the 8 o´clock area. The plastic foot in good shape without chips of cracks, but with a yellow discoloured line towards the bottom. Size: 5 inches high (12.5 cm)
