1950s Japan Kitsch Anthropomorphic Tomato Salt and Pepper Shakers

Super adorable red tomatoes male and female couple salt and pepper shakers from Japan. Imported to Canada by Giftcraft in the 1950's. The tomatoes are red with green leaves and are both wearing brown shoes. The lady tomato has bows on her shoes and long eyelashes. • 6 cm tall x 6 cm wide • The male tomato is a little bit larger than the female Giftcraft is a Toronto based Canadian company established in the 1940s that imports and sells gift wares from all over the world. Early products were mostly Japanese. Note: These are in great shape except for the bottom of the male tomato. The paint has chipped in a few spots and the hole is enlarged so the plug doesn't fit. This is not a problem if it is for display only. If use as a shaker is intended, it will need a larger plug. BSC-2-2
