1950's Linen Dress

Professionally hand tailored, probably in Toronto. Made of a heavy weight linen. embroidered top with covered buttons. Accents also include fake pockets to accentuate the hips. There is some staining in the pits, but it's not very noticable due to similarities in the colour of the fabric. Linen is generally considered easy to wash sweat out of. There is a side zipper on both sides. They both are stiff but functional. There are a couple of spots I noticed that the seams have opened in the pit and the top of one zipper. The seam at the top of the kick pleat has had stress applied to it and some of the seam (not the fabric) has ripped. I was the last person to wear this when I was a teen/early 20's. It probably has not been cleaned since the 60's. I don't know anything about cleaning old fabrics and so I won't touch it. Great News about linen! You do not need to always dry clean it. You can wash on cool or warm and lay flat or hang to dry. Linen fibers dont like heat, so treat accordingly. If you require the crisp lines then feel free to dry clean.
