Mid-century modern tiger made in Staffordshire England.
• 17" long x 6" high x 4" wide
Several Staffordshire companies manufactured goods under the name ‘Melba’ but 'Melba Ware' was the name of the Fine Arts Division produced by H. A. Wain & Sons Ltd, who were well known for their ceramic animals. They began production in 1946 and ceased in the mid-1980s.
Very nice condition. There is fine crazing (as seen in the trademark photo), and there is a tiny scratch on one tooth (as seen in the last photo.)
