Written by Mary Grannan (1900 - 1975), a beloved Canadian teacher, gifted children's book author and pioneering national broadcaster. In the 1940s and 50s, Grannan created and produced "Just Mary" and other innovative children's programs for the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation).
The "Mary Muggins" stories featured a little, red-haired girl whose cheerful interactions with unpredictable animal friends entranced fans of later radio and TV adaptations.
