This 1970th vintage Japanese Porcelain Harlequin Pierrot Teapot was made by Japanese Sigma the Tastesetter porcelain manufacturer, it is hand-paint. The Harlequin's hat forms a lid and his hand forms a handle. The little Pierrot hat ends with a hole to pour tea/water. The Sigma Tastesetter-manufactured items were imported to USA/NY by Sigma in the late 1960’s and 70’s.
The Sigma manufactory existed only around 10 years so these rare items are hard to find, and they are collectible. This piece probably dates to the early 1970s.
The teapot is in very good condition, with tiny signs of age - see the photos.
Dimensions: 11.5" high and 9.5" wide.
