This 1970’s Hillstonia jug vase features a double handle and is in great vintage condition.
This piece has a really interesting ‘wood effect’ texture design reminiscent of a medieval or a ships wooden door. There are 4 horizontal bands across the jug with circle motifs imprinted into the bands and Hillstonia printed in black on the base. Instead of the usual pouring lip it has a spout.
This Hillstonia jug was manufactured by the Moira Pottery Company, near Burton on Trent, Leicestershire in England. The Moira Pottery works was founded in 1922 and demolished in the 1970s.
Hillstonia ware was intended for forcing bulbs and containing plants, making this piece perfect for use as a vase.
Measures 7.8” tall with a diameter of 4.5”.
