1980s Barlow Scrimshaw Brass Buckle Leather Belt

Excellent quality vintage brown leather belt with solid brass tall ship marine themed buckle. This buckle steals the show as it was created by American artist and designer Stephen Barlow and is a rare Scrimshaw piece. • Holes at waist measurements of 36" - 40" • 1 1/8" wide belt • 1 3/8" tall x 1 3/4" wide buckle • Maker's mark on back of buckle • Materials: leather, brass, bone • Made in Providence RI, USA Scrimshaw is the technique of engraving and drawing on bone. It is a marine technique that requires a high level of skill and very few people in the world are skilled in it. Note: This piece is pre-owned and vintage. It will have scuffs and distressing to the leather, as well as discoloration to the bone. I did not try to clean the bone. Please refer to photos as I tried to get good examples of the condition. B-13
