set includes two (2) vintage teacups and saucers made in Bavaria, Germany. These pieces are highly collectible and feature a beautiful, ornate design that captures the elegance of a bygone era. They are likely from the mid-20th century, dating to the post-WWII period.
Key Features & Details:
Style: Teacups and Saucers (not demitasse, based on approximate size of 2.5 inches in diameter).
Maker: Marked "MADE IN... BAVARIA" on the base of the cups. The exact maker is one of the many fine porcelain houses from the region (e.g., Winterling, STW, Bareuther).
Pattern: The central decoration is a detailed romantic transferware decal of a "Courting Couple" or "Love Story" scene, often associated with the French Rococo painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard. The decal is visible inside the saucer and on the outside of the cup.
Finish: Features a dramatic, heavy metallic silver lustre glaze along the scalloped rim of the saucer and the lower half of the cup, giving it a unique, shimmering, iridescent effect. The handles are also lustrous.
Form: The saucers have a delicate scalloped or fluted edge, and the cups have a subtly footed base.
Dimensions:
Saucers: 4.75 inches (12 cm) in diameter
Cups: Approximately 2.5 inches (6.3 cm) in diameter and around 2.5 inches in height.
These cups are perfect for vintage china collectors, porcelain lovers, and make a beautiful addition to shabby chic, cottagecore, Victorian, or Hollywood Regency decor.
