golyndsey @alliem While there have been authentic McQ scarves which retailed for $220; they were not the classic skull scarves, nor were they recent. Price aside, there are many other "tells" which render the majority of scarves listed here inauthentic. I am by no means an expert, but I am very knowledgable when it comes to Alexander McQueen's fashion and skull collection scarves. golyndsey @almoyes Hey dear! I will put together a list of several giveaways this weekend!!! It really is unfortunate to see the amount of counterfeits being passed off as "Guaranteed Authentic". Every once in a while I will browse eBay in the hopes of spotting a scarf from one of AM's older collections (they are so ridiculously amazing) and am blown away at such blatant deception. 99.999% of scarves on eBay are counterfeit. And that INCLUDES the ones listed for $500, $600, $700! Asking price does NOT ensure authenticity! More to come... ❤😘❤

I am a tad over the top, lol. I only buy from boutiques and department stores. My Chanel folks laugh because I check all of the items that I purchase from them.

golyndsey @almoyes You are in good company!!!!! I scrutinize every microscopic detail of that which I buy. I am highly OCD when it comes to fashion purchases (well, any purchases quite honestly... Lol). It HAS to be perfect. Though I've never purchased McQueen from Barney's, I'm certain that items actually obtained from there would have no inconsistencies with that which I have obtained from AM in Los Angeles and Nordstrom. A few tips regarding skulls scarves..... (I will try to make dedicated listings in the future to keep the craziness to a minimum on my "searching for" posts!) 1. All name stamps on the skull scarves will appear with Alexander on top and McQueen on the bottom. The "feet" on the "A" will line up PERFECTLY with the "feet" on the "M" and the "feet" on the "R" will line up PERFECTLY with the "feet" of the "U". Absolutely NO exceptions. 2. The distance between the skull border and the hem is always the width of the border. Anything longer or shorter is likely counterfeit. 3. The hem is always done in a "braid-like" wrap. No exceptions (as far as I am aware). I have never known a hem on a classic skull to have a rolled or straight machine stitched hem. 4. The name "ALEXANDER MCQUEEN" is PERFECTLY spaced on the label/tag. This has zero exceptions. A good rule of thumb is to inspect the "A" between the "X" and the "N". If the tip of the "A" is not exactly in the middle, if the "X" looks a bit "squished", if any or all of the font appears italicized, if the name looks slightly more like "ALEX ANDER" as opposed to ALEXANDER..... Chances are it is counterfeit. Additionally, the tag is always stitched horizontally and, as far as I have ever seen, on the bottom of the hem. It is never stitched in a "loop-like" fashion on the side. There are many other ways to weed out counterfeits, but the above should help significantly in the majority of cases. ❤😘❤

And when you see tons of garbage in someone's closet don't you just want to pull these girls aside and say, hey, babe, if you just would have forgone those 10 Hollister tops that you now couldn't get 5 bucks for you could have had one fabulous designer item that you could sell easily if you care for it correctly... For at least half to sometimes more than what you actually bought it for, depending on what it is. I for one would rather have an authentic Coach bag than 10 Fucci bags any day 😘💕✌

I have a light grey w/purple skulls silk that I bought from a AMcQ shop in NYC on a girls trip that I've never used, NWT, still not sure whether I'm going to list or not. I'll log your name down just in case I do. I recently joined posh and love it but am pretty disgusted at all the fakes and replicas. I always try to encourage friends to consider lower prices emerging or small brands if they can't afford a well known designer. Counterfeit goods exploit labor and fund some nasty stuff.

golyndsey @mauishopgirl Oh, you are SO right. I only wish that people could physically SEE what their counterfeit purchases fund (I.e. drugs, weapons, trafficking, prostitution and more)! With so many GREAT pieces in today's marketplace, there is no need to buy counterfeit anything to be "stylish"! Some of my most unique pieces are just that - UNIQUE! golyndsey @tinated If you personally purchased this from a department store such as Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Neiman's, Harrods... I really wouldn't worry. I wouldn't, however, base proof of authenticity on anyone's word. People lie (sadly). When in doubt, always cross reference. Anyone can say they purchased something at a store. Ask them which store. Call the store and ask if they carried that particular scarf. Ask them when they carried it and what it's price was. Sales people come and go but managers don't and will recall stock that was carried many years past. Never hesitate to speak with them. In many cases, you can email pictures for even greater assistance! Same at the McQueen store. The general manager knows ALL collections and will be able to help authenticate if you email them specific pictures.
