As both a buyer and a seller, we all dread hearing the words "Are you interested hun?" Honestly there really is no need to ask, if I'm interested I'll buy on the spot or ask questions...on my own ;)ππ

@alasha Righπt?! It makes me hesitant to like anything at all!! It's such a shame. π’ All we can do is pass the word on!
alasha
@brosseffina it feels like going to a Car lot , thy do not know you but call you my friend π and have not looked you in the face and call you Hun ? Really ... It is Tacky to me . When I like something if thy comment to me like that I unlike it ... It tells me thy are not sincere thy just want to make a Buck ... I appreciate your sign and shoes to put it in my Closet to βΊagain Thank You much and have a Blessed day βππ
brosseffina
@alasha It definitely has that car salesman approach, which can make a buyer uncomfortable or just annoyed. Its just not a consumer friendly tactic that I personally don't approve of. Appreciate your kind words on this issue! Take care and Happy Poshing :)

This is true.. If I ask, I ask if they would like to "make an offer" just so they know its negotiable. But maybe I should just write that in the description lol.. Thanks for the heads up!
brosseffina
@datracy I can totally understand, I just hate to see the tactic where the seller goes down her likes and calls out everyone asking if they're "interested" it's just so pushy.
brosseffina
@lindsaydgreen Amen to that! I've worked many years in retail and loved greeting customers and making them feel welcome. However, being pushy and overly attentive can upset the customer and ultimately hinder them from purchasing anything. :( I have just found it best to be lax but attentive. Sometimes the item really does "sell itself".

This was just added to their etiquette guide πππ

@retailtherapist I was reading that! Lol. It's just about respecting the consumer ππ!

@mezcolanza28 No problem! Just a few things I thought people might have wanted to hear.ππ
yourcouturela
I love that someone else finally said this! If I "like" something, of course I'm "interested." I tried it for a couple of days, it didn't make me any more sales than when I was just letting people come to me with questions and interest. It makes me afraid to "like" something that I'm going to get hounded by a hungry salesman!
brosseffina
@yourcouturela I couldn't agree more. Thanks for chiming in on the discussion. π
karakay123
This is news to me! I had no idea people took that as rude! Good to know, now. Thanks for sharing ππ
brosseffina
@karakay123 It's not as if I'm implying sellers are intentionally being rude, however as someone who comes from both sides I know how I feel when I hear it, and it's just annoying. But everyone has their own technique and the right to do it, but something tells me there are higher profits in the "laid back" sales approach. :) π
karakay123
Ok i looked at others closets who liked this post. now I see. Everyone else just uses different words. "Thanks for the like" "thank u & FYI..." Etc. I guess that way it's less 'salesman'-like. Thanks for the help! I've only sold two items, so I'm pretty new to this. π
brosseffina
@karakay123 Right, it really comes down to just your delivery and/ or patience. I always take the approach the item is nice enough to sell itself, and if someone has a question, they'll most likely ask. ;)
bellarosa
@brosseffina I think that you it's rude to ask someone if they are interested. People ask me all the time and I am not annoyed by it, I take the opportunity to ask questions about the product, make offers and learn more about the seller.
brosseffina
@bellarosa Everyone had a right to their own opinion as I'm just sharing mine as well. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone nor am I suggesting people are intentionally rude. I personally just find it unnecessary and choose not to use it as MY sales tactic. If you feel it works for you please by all means continue to do so. #ToEachTheirOwn.
brosseffina
@kenzierulezz I hear you!! The silent seller is the best type of tactic! Let the item speak for you, instead of the other way around ;)
tashias03
πππ thank you my same exact sentiments! Nothing more annoying than thinking someone has an inquiry about one of your products, and it's that question instead π
brosseffina
@tashias03 Righttt? I was looking at some of the comments on your page, and they ask to trade even if you put it 5 times on your page that you don't trade. Good ish sells itself so I don't see why ppl ask such questions...I find silence as the best answer though...π
ashlei_marie333
@brosseffina I'm glad I looked at this post. I had no idea people hated that. I don't say it to everyone who likes my stuff but I have said it a few times. I just felt like I should acknowledge the person & not ignore them. Is it rude to call someone hun when u r just being sincere? If I like something & someone asks me if I'm interested I don't get upset I just comment back with, just keeping it in my likes & thank u. Maybe I have a few things to learn?
brosseffina
@ashlei_marie333 What I think is bothering most people is not the fact you're acknowledging the customer by saying hi, or if they need help, but the way it's said. It's not necessarily bad to talk to the customer and engage with them to make a sale, it's just the "aggressive" approach that comes with the "hey are you interested?" What I've personally done is put up a public statement simply saying "let me know if you have any questions" and then I feel like I'm reaching out to all my potential buyers all the while not singling out anyone in particular. Because this is online shopping it's implied that the customer has to seek out help because there is no actual physical interaction. I hope this helps express my opinion and maybe a few others. It's all about success here and I wish it to everyone! ββπ
