Look up the info and put it out there more. All it takes is the right person to see it and BAM! Save up and really invest in something like tshirts just to advertise at a decent cost. You can find bulk products to design on and then distribute them with what you are looking for and your info. Word of mouth is a huge deal cause all it takes is one person to have your ten cent shirt draped over their bed and some visitor comes over and spots it...and he knows big people! Lots of options and it's super possible 😉

For hers I'd like something really random but interesting. Bonus points if you can work in an octopus! But not a little kawaii octopus, a big gnarly one. I'd like for the design to be pretty much flowing over and around the shirt instead of just a little picture on the front.

Yeah a white shirt is good for hers. That way you can use more colors. I'd love to see you just go crazy with the design! Let your imagination run wild!
If you use a fitted "girl cut" shirt she'll need a large. If it's a unisex shirt she'll need medium.

She likes octopuses but not necessarily fish and ocean stuff in general. Honestly the more random you can make it the more we'll like it. Stuff like stars, bones, gears (like in clocks), bees, leaves, chains, teeth, keys, hourglasses, monsters, etc. Her name is Lori if you want to work that in somewhere but I would make it relatively small if you do or maybe just the letter L. Her favorite color is blue but all colors are cool. Just something really bold and random and unusual. Something that will make people want to stop and look at it for several minutes just to see everything that's in there.

@shady101 Pricing should depend on a couple of things. For example - if washed, will the colors stay or fade easily ? Quality of t-shirt you are painting on. & how much material you are actually using on a shirt. You also have to take into considerate how much it is costing you to make the shirt -- if you are buying your own materials and shirts.

@iitsybitsy right, it's just hard to figure all that shit but I'll figure it out. The colors don't fade too much because I use permanent markers which stay a lot better than fabric markers. Also, the shirts are good quality and a little pricy. I'll come up with a price soon; I'm just afraid of pricing it too high.

@csalsbury so I'm finally done and will upload the pictures. But! I have a story haha while I was just finishing it, my dad had lit my candles without me knowing it so I was working near them and the effing sleeve caught on fire but I put it out so it only has a small burnt part (I can upload a picture of that too) ANWAYS, I wasn't happy since I put so much work into this for you but I could easily incorporate it into the art by drawing flames or a lighter as some people even request for me to burn the edges of their art or shirt anyways. This is just different because it was unintentional and a little piece off the sleeve is missing. Suffice to say, I'm sincerely sorry and trust me I was burnt in the process so it wasn't fun lol. I would offer to do another shirt though it would take another two weeks or I could give you a discount on this shirt. I don't know, tell me what to do and I'll do it :( I'm so sorry.

@csalsbury and my first listing is some pictures of the finished product. One of the birds on the back is blue and the elephant is blue since that's her favorite color. The octopus is chained since you wanted chains and it looks like it's peering into the chest and instead of a heart, it's an hourglass running out. And the red letter on the elephant is an L(: tell me what you think and again, what you want done.

Because each shirt takes like 16 hours :/ haha so I was wondering if silk screening would be a better idea and just transfer the images after I draw them. I wanted your advice :p

Shoot, I'm sorry. Yes I got it. Ok.....how much is the silk screen machine and how many orders are you getting. Thing about silk screening it is I don't think u will have as much time to do custom orders, but I'm not really sure how much time goes into transferring the drawing into the silk screen machine. If I were gonna invest in a silk screen machine I would let ppl choose from a few premade patterns to keep it simple. If they want custom orders u need to charge more to make it worth ur time and have them PRE-PAY! Do not do the work prior to payment. Did that help??

@frantastic2010 I haven't looked into prices but yeah, that makes sense and did help(: I'm getting several requests and work and school is taking my time haha and it takes like 2 weeks to make a shirt and I just need to find a more effective method. I also have to basically buy new markers for every shirt but I like the idea of making the shirt after payment haha. The last lady offered $25 and I gave it to her but damn haha I'm afraid no one wants to pay more than that so I don't raise the price.

U have to add the cost of markers and time into the price. One things that would probably get you faster money and turn around is drawing in Chuck Taylors or Vans. Smaller canvass and a huge demand.

How long will it take for you to do a tshirt?
Looking for a girls small and she loves bvb and blood on the dance floor and Andy beirsak (however you spell his name)!
I use to own an art gallery and launched several artists but not in fabric art. We still have an art gallery but I've stepped away to do other things, however from time to time I help out. If you started doing this on composite boards or canvas even on "arches brand paper" I'd be happy to have a show for you. You are very talented and there's enough interest in your genre of style I'm sure with a website and a physical show you could do well.
Back to the shirt. Can you do a mock up for a design so I can see it? Need for Xmas.
Design needs to wrap around. Her name is Abigail and I'd love for it to have her name worked into the design. She's kinda "emo" style lots of black purple colors and likes nightmare bf Xmas stuff. You get the picture?

@ferngoddess thank you!! as you've seen in the comments , it takes me way too long to make a shirt; that's why doing shirts isn't ideal. I want to do canvases instead but I can't paint at all haha if you saw my other drawings, you can tell I only specialize in shading pencils. BUT I would love would to do a show and somehow get my art out there but I never knew how. It is unique that I do shirts I guess but you wouldn't believe how much work goes into them because it's such a hard surface to draw on. I truly want to switch canvases. Anyways, I could do a shirt if you want and get it to you by Christmas(:

But it would depend on the picture :/ People don't realize how hard fabric is to draw on. Hey! I'm an artist so I must comment because you are going about this in such a hard way! Very cool art by the way... You may already know this, or someone's told you, but actually drawing on the shirt is so crazy and must be so hard and a HUGE amount of time. You need to take a print class. My friend has put her designs on shirts and I'm getting ready to put some of mine on furniture. But we aren't actually drawing on the items we are taking a screen print of our work. Again you seem intelligent so I may be telling you something you already know, but obviously you have a lot of demand her and there is an easier way! Not to mention your designs will be MUCH more intricate be cause the difficulty of actually drawing on the fabric wouldn't hinder your creativity! You should talk o your art department at the college you go to, they can always help...

Are there no art classes at all? I just ask because any art teacher should have the best advice. Ive finally switched my major at UTenn to studio art so I'm actually starting printing classes right now. So I'll definitely keep up with you! But for now yes I think you could go to a t shirt making place with Any simple design you've drawn and put it on the shirt in various sizes. You know, I think the best way to do that may be on the internet. I remember seeing companies like American apparel being able to upload anything you want onto there stuff. But you know go somewhere who does more mass business and is cheaper. Eventually you would want to learn it for yourself.... Which I can help you with eventually! But also be looking for info on the internet because damn you can learn anything from here.... For what it's worth though if you can ask an artist with the knowledge on how to do it, the art community is always eager to help other talented artist

I'm pissed haha I invested a lot of money into heat transferring paper and gahhh all of the shirts are ruined in the wash so that's why I'm putting this on hold until I can figure out a better way to make shirts. I really want something with an octopus, sea dragon, and an atypical looking Mermaid. If you can come up with a close estimate, that would be awesome. I support Oceana, Sea Shepherd & more. I'd like a sort of sea life getting revenge on all the horrible things humans have done to our precious Oceans and it doesn't need to be "sugar coated"

I'm going to be posting some altered t-shirts that might give you some further ideas. I'm really into experimental fabric sculpture to wear and appreciate the one of a kind designs. FYI Mass screened band t's are around $30 and up so think about that in the scheme of things. Charging for what you love is difficult but $ is a way for people to show appreciation. Stop by some time,I don't want to loose track of you.
