The Key To Buying Jeans Online is Knowing Your Measurements! Tag Sizes Vary Amongst Brands, Styles, Countries & Manufacturers. I've provided basic photos of the two most common ways waist measurements are taken. NOTE: often the measurement of the back waistband is given so that would be 32" in thus example since the measurement is 16" across. Many people give the aligned waistband no dip measurement so it's good to know. Measure Away get waist measurements for different rises! Happy Poshing!

deniminiquitiesI'll be glad to answer any question you may have. I've got a denim obsession and fancy myself a denim matchmaker, pairing the right jeans with the right person and the key to happy denim wearing is proper fit!

Oct 10Reply

deniminiquities@folklaure Here is my quick & dirty how to measure waist and rise to help people determine fit. I know it's hard to tell from my closet, but I specialize in high end premium denim. I've got over a hundred pair of jeans to list plus other sundries and assorted items. :)

Oct 10Reply

deniminiquitiesHow to measure hips: Measure flat across the front of the jeans 2" below the base of the zipper, the fly, NOT 2" BELOW THE STITCHING OUTLINING THE FLY. INSEAM is measured on the inside seen of the leg from bottom of the hem to the outer edge of the seam of the crotch. LEG OPENING: Make flat across hem and double the measurement to get the actual measurement.

Oct 10Reply

deniminiquitiesNOTE: MEASURE JEANS FLAT AND UNSTRETCHED. THE WAIST MEASUREMENT IS THE NUMBER YOU GET MEASURING ACROSS THE TOP OF THE BACK WAISTBAND DOUBLED. NEVER STRETCH THE JEANS IN YOUR MEASUREMENTS!!!

nannie08@deniminiquities thank u so so much for taking the time to give this info. Im 53 urs old. Petite but a little larger than when i was in mu 30 amd 40"s. Lol. This helps a great deal

Nov 13Reply

journey2divineI would love a pair of the fairy jeans if you have any.

Nov 20Reply

deniminiquities@journey2divine I've got one pair that I'm wearing these days. Let me know what size you wear or if you're unsure b/c these are vintage rigid TRBJ. Keep in mind that the rigid (100% cotton) TRs run a size smaller than their stretchy counterparts and the decoratively embroidered ones ate definitely rigid. They're not easy to find but I can certainly look for you and guarantee their authenticity but I'll need to know how much your budget will allow. My Johnny fairies were not cheap but I love them!!

Nov 25Reply

shugahs@stepfresh We needed this for those jeans that day...

Feb 04Reply

tsaia1977@dierks I have stumbled across this gem of a closet. I think this just might contain some of the best deals I've seen besides @ridinghood13 on premium denim. I know your hosting soon and surprisingly enough I didn't see host picks. I won't tag u on anymore closets but I Had to share this one. Thnx! Xxooxxoo

Feb 06Reply

deniminiquities@r_yuri Hope this will help you buy great fitting jeans in future denim purchases!

Feb 07Reply

deniminiquities@chaspence See, just trying to help so you and your potential buyer could get a more definite sense of whether or not the jeans would fit. Fabrication, Designer and even styles by the same designer are all variables that make a size to size conversion almost meaningless when there are so many "sizes" that a Sz 28, 30, etc could be radically different or essentially the same size.

Feb 07Reply

r_yuri@deniminiquities Wow! Thanks for taking the time :) your super cool

Feb 07Reply

deniminiquities@r_yuri Awww, thanks! I believe every woman should know how to find the best fitting jeans even without trying them on in person. I've been considering a similar posting to address styles/designs and body shapes since the rise, cut, fabrication and measurements will change depending on body shape and jeans style. If you ever have questions about premium denim, authenticating designer jeans or anything, just ask! :-)

Feb 07Reply

jeweledonyxThank you so much! It's just excellent. I can't tell you how many times I'v had to explain this. Would you mind if I use your idea (not your sign)in my closet? Never occurred to me to just post a sign 😱 -Kaye🌷

Jun 15Reply

gumbobHi. Do you have any distressed skinny jeans?

Jun 18Reply

deniminiquities@gumbob I've got a few pair. Are you looking for a blue denim or colored skinny? Size?

Jun 18Reply

gumbobUmmm, blue denim. My size varies based on stretch, material & designer. 27-30 has been fitting but lots of Euro brands

Jun 18Reply

deniminiquities@gumbob I'll look through my jeans & list them. What kind of preferences do you have as far designer, rise, stretch and whatnot. I've got a cute pair of sz 28 big star jeans that are not stretchy but super soft & wonderfully broken in with distressing. Oh, what about length? Do you need or prefer a particular inseam?

Jun 18Reply

gumbobHi, not any specific designer preference. I have tons of BKE's. Looking for more unique jeans. I'm into comfort & stretch. Don't have much junk in my trunk. I'm a 31" inseam. Liked to roll them up during the summer & then down other times. I'm in a hot/humid climate so I like to breathe a bit lil. Hope that helps. Getting tired of the brands in the store & wanting a different look.

Jun 18Reply

gumbobOh, I don't do boot cut or flare. They don't look good on me

Jun 18Reply

deniminiquities@gumbob I know what you mean! It's a hundred degrees in a wall of humidity here in the middle of Alabama so that means jeans need to be stretchy & lighter weight to be comfy. Of all jeans I'm liking right now are a pair of blue ombre forever 21 (it's a first on lots of levels) and 2 styles from mother jeans- three looker and the rascal fray. They all roll up for a super cute look. I'm still fond of the socialite kicker from Joe's Jeans as well.

Jun 18Reply

deniminiquities@gumbob I'm not sure if I'll get the pics up this evening- the meds I was given during/after surgery this morning are starting to wear off. We'll see how it goes.

Jun 18Reply

gumbobAwe, take a break & remember YOU always come first. Get well wishes & prayers 💟

Jun 18Reply

gumbobWow, I have found some great stuff @ F21 too. Never imagined. I need something that flatters my rear so I try to look at pocket placement, etc

Jun 18Reply

deniminiquities@gumbob I'm mega picky on jeans fit & fabrication esp back pocket shape, size, proportionality & placement. What are some of your fave fitting styles? I really like Hudson signature boot cut, Nico Super Skinny but not the Colin fit. I love TRBJ Joey but not the Casey legging. No matter how cute, I cannot wear old navy jeans because they're fundamentally ill suited for my body shape. Levi's Superlow nouveau boot & skinny stretch jeans are always an option bc they are universally flattering.

Jun 18Reply

deniminiquities@gumbob Thanks for the well wishes. Thinking about jeans is usually a welcome distraction though. Trying to figure out fit for someone is a fun challenge butt leads to lots of questions. What type of rise/brand/style do you feel most confident wearing? For me it depends on my weight/size I'm wearing. If I'm in a 26, 27 then it's true religion, COH 6.5-7“ low rise but if I'm wearing a 29,30, 31 then it's Hudson, Paige, William Rast Jeans with an 8-9" midrise. AG jeans work great when I'm a 27-28.

Jun 18Reply

gumbobWell...I'm a 34-35DD & curvy (smaller waist) but I've gained a lil due to health issues/meds. Never have had a butt. I use to wear a 24/25 but my body is changing due to age. Use to Rock my Miss Me's, Rock Revival, BKEs'. Getting tired of the same look/design. I can do a low rise if they fit right & don't give the muffin effect. Bought a pair of Design Lab & liked them

Jun 18Reply

gumbobMy sis is in the industry & loves Paige, Hudson but she's very petite & has a butt. Stylist @ Noirdies told me to try Paige & NYDJ. Heard Maxwell & Vigoss are good but haven't tried them. Still searching for a perfect pair.....

Jun 18Reply

gumbobBought a pair of Laguna Beach & they look good

Jun 18Reply

deniminiquities@gumbob Gotcha. I'm going through the same thing, body changing bc of meds. Most of my jeans are put away right now bc I'm on a daily steroid regimen which has made everything curvier. So you may want to try mother jeans, esp the styles that are a modal coffin poly blend bc they are magic the way they stretch and fit like a glove. Plus they're decadent in just how comfy they are!!

Jun 18Reply

gumbobThanks, I'll def look into them. Wonder if there are any on here.....

Jun 18Reply

deniminiquities@gumbob I've definitely got a butt with a narrower waist and 38D-DD with a broad rib cage so that if I weigh 110 lbs I'm still a 38 just B cup, very high waist w/ a little pooch right below my navel that has muffin top potential if jeans have too high or low a rise. I've been rather frustrated lately because I have discovered that a 27 and 30 of same jeans doesn't translate across the size lines. When you figure out this secret of the universe please share the answer with me!!

Jun 18Reply

gumbobI can totally relate. I've purchased 30-31 & they fit like some of my 27's. It's hard to purchase online bc you can't try on. Haven't lost my chest but I had a lift...

Jun 19Reply

deniminiquities@gumbob it's a crap shoot, buying jeans online. The added uncertainty of preloved pairs bc of breaking in/stretching makes sizes almost irrelevant but it's a great way to get find excellent denim. I'm not sure if it's the sizes of jeans that affects fit or if it's more subtle changes in my shape. I suddenly have to worry about plumbers crack with certain styles. No, no, no! I just want to find jeans that are comfy & I feel/look good wearing. I'm measurement obsessive compulsive.

Jun 19Reply

gumbobLOL, you're too funny! Sure, your meds have worn off 😊. Very true on all parts.

Jun 19Reply

gumbobSoooooo many people can't, won't or do not know how to measure. I've run into people that don't even have a measuring tape. They get ticked when I ask for measurements 😢

Aug 10Reply

nickeeclothingThis was a great help.wow!! I'm a newbie, and appreciate any helpful tips...♡♡

Sep 02Reply

deniminiquities@nickeeclothing I'm so glad it helped!! Buying and selling jeans online, particularly pre-loved ones, is a gamble if you go by the size tag. Measurements provide more info than a tag every time. Happy Poshing, good luck and let me know if you have any additional questions. @gumbob has a listing on how to take all of your measurements so stop by her closet to check it out!!

Sep 02Reply

gumbobIt's buried it there somewhere bc I'm on medical leave. Good luck. I always get measurements even in the same brand I vary!

Sep 03Reply

emilybragg15@deniminiquities hey! I am curious about what my size is?? Like I wear a 5/6-8 depending on the brand..so would I be a 26-27-28 if I'm normally a 5/6? I've always wondered what my equivalent would be?? Your measurement advice has really helped!! I'm learning lol

Nov 14Reply

deniminiquities@emilybragg15 Before I can answer you with a solid answer i need to know the following: brand, used or new and fabrication is key. Many brands have rigid (100% Cotton) denim that isn't stretchy and fits a size or 2 smaller. I'll be glad to offer my opinion given the facts😘

Nov 14Reply

emilybragg15@deniminiquities ok thank u so much!!

Nov 14Reply

deniminiquities@emilybragg15 the best way to determine size/fit is to take a few of your different favorite jrand and measure them as described above. If the person doesn't know how to measure then either walk then through the steps above or just tag them in it Hope that's more helpful. General rule is 25=z 0, 26-2,27=4 etc... But always chec

Nov 14Reply

deniminiquities@emilybragg15 measurements of the means you love and the jeans you need to love, 😘💕

Aug 09Reply

ericadawnWell if you're the denim dealer I'm the denim addict. I have a wishlist and a needlist. Lol. would you be willing to help me figure out which are necessities and which brands to go with?

Oct 17Reply

deniminiquities@dstiletto Curiosity. I wanted to understand where you were coming from as a seller and I can't do that without asking. My username is deniminiquities for a reason--it's almost sinful the way I love denim. Rarities are a definite passion of mine in a world class sort of way. Distressed is here to stay, especially in shorties. If you take a look at me you'd see this isn't hostile in the least

Apr 06Reply
