@kissmymissy Hi to answer your question let begin with the yarn itself. Have you ever crocheted or even knit with this type of yarn? I don't think you have or you would never ask this question to begin with. For one to get one skein of yarn in these colors is around $8. Per skein and there's very little to it. It takes many skeins to do one of these and the going is slow. Those fine little hairs get in the way as you go along and if your not careful could tare. I've been knitting/ crocheting since I've been 5 years old and I'm now 65 and my mother taught me the importance of tension on while doing a piece so that it's not to tight in some places or to loose. You can hardly see the stitch because of the fine little hairs so you have to feel and examine constantly. It's very slow going and takes about 3 days sometimes 4 days depending on the size of the cowl. In material alone the cost is extremely high. And then I do pay myself for time put in. Do you work? Do you get paid by the hour? Most people do ( not all have straight salary). Well I don't work for free do you? If you do your figures you will see that I'm loosing money. It takes about 20 skeins to do just one. You get about 2 or 3 rows per skein. Try it some time you'll then have a better understanding. I hope I helped answer your question. Peace out! ;€)

@kissmymissy Most artists pay themselves about $25. Per hour do you pay yourself hon when your calculating the cost & labor. Packaging, shipping, material, time, tags or cards etc. I'll bet anything your under selling yourself just as I am. We are in a place where things are supposed to be less expensive too and that's why I'm under selling myself. I made my infinity cowls about 4 years ago and I had so many I was giving them away as gifts and these are what I have left over. I used to sell them in a boutique for $350.00. My mother used to get that much for a sweater 35 years ago. That's a lot of money back then but then again my mother was a award winner in that market as was sought after. I come from a family of artists in some form or another. I actually have a degree in Fine Arts and some people even consider their education worth a monetary something. Lol did I say that right? Hon is that you in the photo with a broken foot? Luv the pink lol. Hope everything turned out alright with your foot hon.

@kissmymissy It's the hardest yarn I've ever used besides mohair. Yes Gold is way expensive. Just to buy say 20 head pins of GF it's almost $20. That's almost a dollar per. And the ear hooks I can afford anymore nor the little drop rings. So now I buy the Gold filled wire in different gadges and learned to make my own. I learned on Utube. That's way not only am I saving money so are my customers. I actually want to save them even more and melt my own gold but that's going to take at least $1500.00 just to get the very basics and this tiny little gold melting pot. Then there's certain bowls, molds, etc. The price of to old alone is astounding. One thing at a time. Ho hum

@kissmymissy And I forgot to mention sea glass, ( mermaid tears). I also work with it and have some black listed. Mine is the real stuff. There's a lot out there that isn't. Then there's lake glass but they call it sea glass. I don't use that either. I guess I know about it, I certainly do my research that's for sure. Now different colors are out there. I like the most rarest of course lol. That would be black, red, orange, pink. The reason is the bottles about a couple of thousand years ago have been thinned out due to: they don't make red glass, pink etc. Ooo and purple too. Anyway to get those very rare expensive pieces you have to know the world, where the ships that sunk went and the cargo. The reds are made out of real gold. Today they don't make red glass anymore with gold. Now we know the price of gold, where the ships sank, basically anyway, and where that color glass washes up on the beach and where in the world are those beaches that have those colored glass. Whew! I invest in black & red. I'm presently looking for purple and pink. Then.you have to pray that two pieces wash up that are shaped exactly the same way to just make 1 pair of earrings. Your was it niece you said obviously doesn't use those colors if your telling me she makes less then one of my infinity Cowls. There's a little bit of history for you. I bet she uses greens and blues to make her jewelry. Correct me if I'm wrong. That's the most common and the cheapest color you can get. I have that too. I actually have a pendant of Black Sea glass (Rare) for sale at a bargain price. But nobody knows what the real worth is because they would have bought that piece long ago. Lol it's funny to watch and see.
