tissue @tina421 Please send him my Thanks. I pray for his safety. Will he be able to come home for Thanksgiving? My son is in the Navy. In the 14 years he's been serving he hasn't been home. It's SO important for these young families to celebrate togetherness. It's not always possible when the kids grow up. God bless you and keep you strong. "They also serve who sit and wait".

reggies_closet
reggies_closet @tissue thank you so much! My husband is deployed for the holidays.
Nov 26Reply
tissue
tissue @reggies_closet It's difficult at any time of the year..more so on the holidays. Do you have any support groups there? You don't have to say them..lean on each other for strength. It's not a cure-all, but it helps. Good that you're keeping yourself busy. If you have kids, have them write questions whenever. When your hubby calls, pull out one at a time. It helps with the blank time when they don't know what to say. Please keep in touch. If there's anything I can do or if you need someone to listen I'm here for you! God Bless.
Nov 26Reply
reggies_closet
reggies_closet @tissue thank you so much. My husband actually just joined his new team days before deploying. So I do not know anyone from his new company. The FRG leader keeps in contact to see if we need anything, so that is nice, but we don't get together or know anyone down there. I am pregnant w/ our 5th, so it is a little more (well a lot more) emotional this deployment. Thanks for your encouragement. :)
Nov 26Reply
tissue
tissue WOW!!! 5?! I'd say it's A LOT emotional.Get in touch with your local Blue Star Mothers group. If it's like mine they meet a few times a month and have a directory of ladies who have loved ones in service. AWESOME organization!!! Best of everything to you. I'm here whenever!

ginam66
ginam66 The best words to see when I dropped by your closet, to see prayer for are troops.I'm a new Army Mom, my son just finished AIT, he was home for 2 weeks and is now stationed in South Korea. I will keep yours in my prayers. And I thank them for their services
Nov 28Reply
tissue
tissue @ginam66 Please thank your son for his service to our wonderful country! You will both be in my heart and prayers. My son returned from S Korea not long ago. He said not to believe what you read in the papers or hear on the news, that it's more hype than anything. I hope you have a support group nearby to lean on. It's a difficult time whenever our children leave our safety net! Please feel free to contact me with ANYTHING!!!! As a new Warrior Mom I know this is a zombie-like state to be in. I can't give you exact ways to get through, but staying busy is the best. There was a poster during WW11 that said "They also serve who sit and wait" Boy, isn't THAT the truth!!! Blue Star Mothers and Veteran's groups will help with "care packages" to send to him. My BSM chapter sends packages about 6 times a year. If you know a teacher in elementary school, ask if the class would make cards as a project. Again, I'm NEVER too busy to help out another Mom, wife or anyone with someone in service. God Bless You, GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!
Nov 29Reply
ginam66
ginam66 Thank you so much, I am having a hard time with him gone, I looked haven't found a support group, I do keep looking in case one starts or I missed. Thank you so much for your prayers and kind words. You made my day, and just the right words when I needed them the most. May gods blessings be with you and your son.
Nov 29Reply

tissue Blue Star Mothers is an organization that was chartered by Congress in 1940 (?). It's symbol is the Blue Star Banner (hope) which is displayed in the window to let your neighbors know that someone is serving in the Armed Forces. It was created by a Dad in 1917 who's son was serving. Anyway..I used to be a public speaker for my chapter in New Mexico before I got so sick. If you look online in your area I hope you'll be able to find a chapter. An amazing group of women and men who's children or relative is serving. If you're able to, the Patriot Guard Riders in your area are also a great group to get involved with. Both groups do Welcome Homes at the airport. THAT'S an AMAZING event that will make you cry and warm your heart at the same time.Check with your son's Family Readiness Group. They can direct you to other Moms in the area. Please keep in touch...you'll never be a bother! Thanks for your kind words. After 14 years in, the deployments don't get easier but there are many ways to endure the time and worry. Be Well, my new PFF, Rosanne

angel10 I love this! My younger brother has been stationed all the way on another coast since November. He has missed Christmas and Thanksgiving with us... It just feels so weird not having him around all the time.
Dec 29Reply
tissue
tissue @angel10 It's so difficult for everyone involved to have loved ones (and be) away from home especially around the holidays. Thank God for our brave Warriors wherever they are. I can't say it gets easier with each year, but when they do come home it's amazing! ! My prayers are going up for your brother and for you and the rest of your family. None of this is easy but keeping your mind on his next leave and having something to look forward to will make it better. For everyone, especially any children, the times they call sometimes leave our minds blank. Whenever a question comes to mind, write it down and put it in a jar. When he calls just pick out a piece of paper and ask away! ! Please stay in touch. Without revealing any information we can talk about a lot of things. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

So yes and thank you for what you do for veterans I think so many of them cone home from war and simply cant deal and people do not understand it!💜💜
Jan 13Reply
tissue
tissue @bluidvll I'm so glad your son was able to find a 'Nam Vet. They are so well versed fortunately and unfortunately in all the in's and out's of these terrible conditions they're forced to live with. Pain control is a big plus! I've been blessed to have been in a position to help our Vets. As I state, this is a debt I owe that can never be repaid. I'll try forever, though! I've seen too many times the blase attitude people have regarding our Vets. They just don't get it and it bugs the heck out of me! How about you? Are you getting all that YOU need? There are a great many organizations who welcome and assist the families of our Wounded Warriors. Be Well and if you need ANYTHING please let me know! I remain a faithful and grateful American.

He's served in Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, & lived in Japan, with my daughter, and their son who is now, almost 16 next month. I realize, how much Our Military Families sacrifice, due to being involved 2nd hand, MY kids are experiencing it 1st hand. I Thank You all for your bravery, & Courage to continue. It's quite humbling, to be related to such a remarkable individual, which I'm sure you all have experienced. God Bless.💖 you all. Ruth 🎀

ittybittylaurie
ittybittylaurie @tissue Thank you so much. I have talked to my friend but she didn't want to talk about it because her husband was deployed. She also told me to tell my oldest son not to join but he had his mind set on enlisting. My daughter wanted to join and do EOD but denied because she has a history of asthma, she wanted to try other parts of the Army, Marines and Air Force but all said no. They said even if she is in other fields, she could be deployed. She got 87 on her ASVAD
Jan 22Reply
tissue
tissue @claysoldlady It's so difficult to talk to most people about a loved one in service. Look online for the nearest Blue Star Mother chapter. Our commonality is that we have children in active military. Although no one has the answer as to how we get through this time we try and keep ourselves and each other busy. Our kids are more focused on what's going on with them when they don't have to worry about us! When you think of a question you want to ask your son when he calls, write it down and put it in a jar. When he calls just pick a note! We get so excited we sometimes go blank and we don't want to have silent moments when we can talk! ! Please take care of you. I'm available and willing to help however I can. God bless, Rosanne. ☺🗽🗽
Jan 22Reply
ittybittylaurie
ittybittylaurie @tissue is Blue star on or off base? I try to stay busy and I have to think about my daughter and youngest son and their school. My youngest son is 8 and he kind of knows his brother is in Afghanistan but doesn't understand. It sucks that my oldest son got deployed right before his 21st birthday. If you have Line, look up IttyBittyLaurie. I have a picture of my oldest son in his marine uniform

somer2332 My prayers go out to you & your family and especially your son in the Navy. My brother is in the Marines, and I have seen what the stress has done to my mother, and he's only been in for 5 years now I think. I think you have a great closet! And I love that you make these little "listings" for prayers, support, and gratitude. It's wonderful and rather rare these days I'm sad to say. Though I have known many military families, and within them, that is never the case. I also love that you stick to the Posh rules!! Go girl!! It has been a pleasure shopping your closet 😊 Semper Fi! 🇺🇸
Mar 11Reply

tissue @somer2332 Thanks for the prayers for me and my family. Yes, it's very difficult for all involved and we all have similar but different stresses. A Mom's love is like no other. So is a sister's and I'm sure that the worry has take it's toll on you, as well. We all pray a lot, not just for our loved one(s) but all our Warriors and Veterans. I remember when he went to "the sandbox" the first time. I actually told him "NO, You can't go! I'm your mother and I say so!" Crazy reactions we have! I pray that your brother returns home safe and soon. I'm glad you like my closet and my patriotic listings. I've gotten a lot of feedback (all positive) on them and it swells my pride. I am forever grateful that I'm an American. Please keep in touch. Not too much info, of course. We all know the dangers on the homefront, as well. shoe_enchantres
shoe_enchantres I love finding military families, always follow/share. Thanks to all who serve/have served & the families who miss, support & love from home. My son is Air Force, 4 yrs into 6 yr contract. 1st deployment last fall/winter so he wasn't state-side for his birthday/holidays. He loved it though: the journey landed him in many countries; loved his leadership group; completed online college courses; FaceTime every Sunday. So proud of those who make this choice. God bless our troops & their families😘🇺🇸
