The most common counterfeit serial # is AL3. It's on every box I've ever seen that was fake. The bottom is the fake in the pic. The top is legit. Serial numbers never repeat. These are specifically unique to prove authenticity. In addition. If a batch of their makeup has an issue, they can recall specific batches. When you see an AL3. IT IS FAKE!!! I'm only warning others to not buy fake ones :) Regardless of what these sellers are saying. The ONLY repeating serial number is AL3. Coincidence?

heavenlystyles The people that sell fake ones are willing to lie about where they got it too, I was told that they got it a Ulta, but when I tried to use it and I compared it to the one at Macy's which was buttery rather chalky, I knew it was fake, and I was really upset because I had been lied to. They should at least be honest and just tell us that it's fake, there are people that are okay with buying fake ones, I am just not one of them. Thanks for sharing this information.

jsalaver @omgahwaffles I am sure there are. There are fake Bon Bon palettes already. BJ5 Is the fake serial for that one.

heavenlystyles
heavenlystyles What is the texture of the eyeshadows from the fake palette that you got? Are they buttery? Or chalky?
Feb 22Reply
jsalaver
jsalaver @omgahwaffles Very chalky. Hardly any pigmentation. I was so mad when I got the fake one I had to fight tooth and nail to get my money back. I took it to Sephora and it wasnt even close to the real one.

heavenlystyles
heavenlystyles So I guess, people would be able to tell based on the texture as well...I only got one that was fake so far, but I am not really sure.

jsalaver @khamby47 I always check on sites like Ali express. Lots of fake make up there. If its there. It is going to be here too. They sell the fake ones for $10 each. Its a quick way for them to get rich

jmaslvn82
jmaslvn82 Thanks for this!!! In addition the number on the box should also be the same number on the back of the pallete itself. If there is no number on thr pallete that is a sure fire way to tell that the pallete is fake.

kenzierz
kenzierz I've recently been trying to figure out how to tell if Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits are fake. I've seen so many for sell. Thank God I found someone that I trust but I see some people have like 20 of them & I don't want to be judgmental but I just wonder how people get so many with such a discounted price.

dougarmom Thanks so much. ..... Ugh it's so frustrating because these counterfeits keep getting harder and harder to detect, I always thought that as long as they're were serial numbers I was good to go 😞 But apparently Not. Thanks so much for the helpful advice :)

hannahlauryn99
hannahlauryn99 I purchased a chocolate bon bons palette from Sephora that had a serial number of BJ5, where are the fakes of that serial number coming from?
Apr 24Reply
jsalaver
jsalaver @hannahlauryn99 get the aliexpress app. Type in chocolate bonbon palette. They are on there. $13.42 each. Ill add a pic to my closet
Apr 24Reply
hannahlauryn99
hannahlauryn99 How could I have gotten a real one from Sephora with that serial number though?
Apr 24Reply
jsalaver
jsalaver @hannahlauryn99 the serial numbers for chocolate bonbon isnt a serial number. Its a batch number. The fakes for those have the same batch number. If you go back to Sephora youll see that ALL of the palettes are the same batch. Their are no unique serial numbers for bonbons

hannahlauryn99
hannahlauryn99 Ohhhhh okay! Thank you for explaining that to me! Nice to know that there are still some honest people on posh:)

jsalaver @gg57 my issue with the stuff sold on aliexpress and ioffer in terms of makeup are not authentic. I would never purchase a knock off item. It's illegal to even sell.

brianandjaymie I purchased a chocolate palette from @hahaxiloveyouhx last night with the code on the back being AL3. I am assuming it is a fake then after researching the Internet tonight. @gabby_2943 be sure you don't make the same mistake.

hahaxiloveyouhx
hahaxiloveyouhx @brianandjaymie oh no.. interesting. i purchased mine from ulta when the item released, so i doubt they sold me a fske.. though mine says al3, it also says it on the palette itself, unlike this one! i will be heading to ulta some this weekend and i will look into it! thanks for letting me know, i certainly don't want anyone to think i'm selling a fake, which is why i only but from sephora or ulta! i'll let you know!

rachelcastile
rachelcastile @jsalaver I just bought a too faced bon bon palette on here and it seemed totally legit but now I'm kind of freaking myself out! In pictures she has the number AL5 on the tin. Have you heard anything about AL5? Thank you so much!!
Oct 23Reply
jsalaver
jsalaver @rachelcastile unfortunately the palettes no longer have serial numbers. Only batch codes. When you get it. Take it and the box to your nearest retailer that stocks it and ask to do a comparison. Sephora. Macy's. Ulta. Nordstrom.
