How to authenticate Tiffany & Co.-  The top tags are real in all pics, the right box is real. The necklace itself should always have one or two oval “tags” (two for special designers like elsa peretti). They should be smooth and rounded (no sharp edges and not flat). One side of the tag will say Tiffany and the other .925 or the kt of gold. All charms will have engraving saying tiffany & co. It may be light. Boxes will be well made, with even lettering centered. It will also be the right color.

Nov 14Reply
acquittdapparel
acquittdapparel @andrea9109 of course! Yea, I actually bought one on here and it was fake... (the fake one in the pics above).... but the girl didn't know it wasn't authentic.... I had bought it as a gift for my future mother in law since she doesn't have any tiffany.

I have what I believe are earrings and a ring.... Would love to add to that as the style fascinates me.... Maybe a bracelet or something???! Any leads?

2bears4u If it looks cheaply made it probably isn't real. Plus there is so many of us on here to help with fakes. Ask someone before you buy! Same on handbags!

gemdgal
gemdgal @jcradd Hi I was just browsing and came across this post. I did buy some Silver Tiffany Beads from someone on PM. There is a round tag on it that says Tiffany &'Co. With 925 on the back. She said it was authentic. I have no Idea if it is or not.
Jan 25Reply
acquittdapparel
acquittdapparel @gemdgal the tag should be rounded like the top one on the first picture, and then clearly stamped, not etched looking.
Jan 25Reply
gemdgal
gemdgal @jcradd Hmm I think I got a fake then, I really can't do anything about it now, right? Should I tell her? Maybe she doesn't realize it like the one you bought. I'm very disappointed.
Jan 25Reply
acquittdapparel
acquittdapparel @gemdgal you can file a complaint with poshmark if it was purchased through here. Just email them and let them know it isn't authentic.
Jan 25Reply
gemdgal
gemdgal @jcradd I want to make sure before I do anything I was looking around on PM and found an identical necklace as mine. They are selling for $250 I did buy on PM. Can you take a look at the picture of the one I Bought? I m sorry to bother you I have only been a Posher for About 2 months.
Jan 25Reply
acquittdapparel
acquittdapparel @gemdgal yea sure just upload some pics to your closet and I will let you know what i think.
Jan 25Reply
gemdgal
gemdgal @jcradd I just tried to upload and Poshmark identified it as a fake.
Jan 25Reply
acquittdapparel
acquittdapparel @gemdgal they didnt identify as fake, they just want you to certify it as authentic. Mark it at $0 and then certify it. Tiffany is a highly faked item and they want to force sellers to know its illegal to sell fakes. They don't have software to check pictures or identify from pictures if items are fake.
Jan 25Reply
gemdgal
gemdgal @jcradd ok sorry it kind of freaked me out I re posted its in my closets now. Thanks
Jan 25Reply
acquittdapparel
acquittdapparel @gemdgal the 925 portion looks a little strange. There is a Tiffany FB group You can post there and there are professionals who will tell you their opinion. The Tiffany part looks OK.

shelpen
shelpen thank u so much. tired of seeing so much "Tiffany"
Jan 27Reply
acquittdapparel
acquittdapparel @shelpen I hate fakes. And Tiffany isn't all that expensive to begin with depending on the piece. Silver heart earrings are like $150. Engagement rings though is a whole different story lol
Jan 27Reply
shelpen
shelpen I try and watch all closets before I follow. If it's a rule, it's a rule; however, it takes so much time. wish pm would list all items you can and cannot sell, Make it easy to understand, and run it through the feed once s month or once a week. I get so tired of seeing used cosmetics, household items, men clothing, baby items. thinking about suggesting that to posh. If you know a person in high places, LOL, why don't you suggest?
Jan 27Reply
acquittdapparel
acquittdapparel @shelpen they do have a list of yes and no items. It's in the start up pages as well as their FAQs and rules. People just don't listen or care. Some are here to try to make a quick buck. Others of us have made this a buisness.
Jan 27Reply
shelpen
shelpen so right. I hope that maybe 50% do read the rules and regulations before they start selling. It does spell everything out so simply.

avery0925
avery0925 Thanks for this post! I love Tiffany and bleed Tiffany blue! Just to add to your authenticity test, there are itty bitty "Ts" etched in all Tiffany boxes that you could probably only see with a magnifying glass.

mossandvine
mossandvine This and your LV listings are super helpful. There are so many fakes on here it is sad. And buyer beware if there are only stock pictures for the listing.
Apr 07Reply
acquittdapparel
acquittdapparel @mossgirl007 aww thank you so much! I try to make sure people don't get ripped off. The great thing about posh is over $500 they authenticate for you.
Apr 07Reply
mossandvine
mossandvine @jcradd Yeah. Unfortunately, there's a lot of stuff under that price point. I like vintage Gucci bags, and I got one that was fake on Posh. She swore she's the original owner and it is real, but I seriously doubt it. Vintage can be hard to authenticate, but the feel of the leather was off, the zipper was cheap, and and the the metal interlocking GGs were plastic. Ugh. 🙄
Apr 07Reply
acquittdapparel
acquittdapparel @mossgirl007 I hope you filed a case against her! That's ridiculous. I've gotten so many fakes it's not even funny between here and eBay. I only buy from trusted sellers or now from Japan on eBay because they have STRICT counterfeit laws. That or straight from the boutique because some things aren't that much more straight from Lv.
Apr 07Reply
mossandvine
mossandvine @jcradd I didn't let Posh know because she swore up and down she was the original owner and she bought it at a boutique 30 years ago. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she unknowingly bought a fake.
Apr 07Reply
mossandvine
mossandvine But yeah, buying from trusted sellers or estate sales where you can examine the item in person is so much better. And high-end stores like Neiman's and Nordstrom actually have pretty awesome sales for authentic stuff at the end of the season. I don't know if they sell LV, but they do Gucci for sure.
Apr 07Reply
acquittdapparel
acquittdapparel @mossgirl007 they sell them in boutiques inside the stores but it's never ever ever put on sale lol it's a rule of LV corporate.
Apr 07Reply
mossandvine
mossandvine @jcradd Good to know.

toys4ox
toys4ox Is the left pendant fake?? And did Tiffany ever produce this kind of necklace? I’ve got one as a gift, it looks better than on this pics, better stamps and stamps on the chain 925 ITALY plus Tiffany&Co. But I can’t find any of these kind of hearts in the whole internet so I’m kinda confused. I still have a chance to ask a buyer to turn it back to the seller so need to know. Thanks!!
Dec 25Reply
acquittdapparel
acquittdapparel @toys4ox the left pendant is the Elsa peretti Tiffany heart. It’s authentic. The one on the right with the t&co writing all around it is fake.
