I am searching for little painted wood bird brooches like this for my personal collection!
I just think they're the cutest.
Genuine Takahashi and repro are both fine with me.
So if you see a Posh listing that looks like these birdies, please tag me. If you have one in your closet, please tag me. I may not be able to buy it right away, but if I can't I'll share the neck out of it! :)
Thanks Ladies!

I love looking at your little birds. Do you collect anything, like rings, etc or just pins

@oldsewlvintage Oh Chrissie, these are *amazing!* I've never seen these before & I thought I'd seen 'em all. 😉 What era are they from?

@judyabolafya oh my goodness, the story is incredible. The ones in the photo are repros, but still I love them. So in the 1940s during WWII, a Japanese American family named the Takahashis were forced into internment camps in the USA! This was because of the bombing on Pearl Harbor.

@judyabolafya In the camps, they made crafts using what they could find, carving little birds out of egg crates and making legs from wires they clipped from window screens! They kept making these little painted birds after the war was over, and they became popular- rightly so!

@oldsewlvintage Thank you for teaching me about these. Praise God that even in the worst of circumstances, that family found peace, beauty, and probably even joy in creating small masterpieces. ✨❤️✨

If you ever run across a cardinal that you don't want, pin, that is, please let me know. It's for a scentinental shadow box I'm working on. Cardinals were their favorite birds. Thank you!!
