IF YOU CHOOSE OTHER, ALWAYS COMMENT WHY (doesn't fit, color was off etc is NOT THE SELLER’S FAULT. If you chose less than 5 ⭐️ leave a comment as to why. Constructive criticism helps us with future sales. If u make an error don't worry, u can edit. Be honest & fair. Buyer's remorse is not a reason for a low rating. The rating system was designed to help sellers make the shopping experience a positive one. So be fair & rate your sale accordingly. If it was shipped within a decent timeframe, packaged to be protected from the elements (not necessarily pretty or with freebies),

if it was accurately described (extra photos & measurements provided but doesn't fit you doesn't count, do your due diligence as a buyer), was it clean & free from odors, stains, let hair etc? THESE are how your seller. Not based off of price or anything you should have asked but didn't. Be fair & accurate, ladies. Happy Poshing!

@ellebee206 Well said. If I may add my 2 cents here, I don't understand why ratings can be edited. Buyers can easily manipulate that system to "black mail" seller. Once rating is given buyer can only get Poshmark's approval with a justifiable reasons to edit their rating.

I love this!! Someone just ruined my 5 star rating bc she rated me 3 stars, her reason is that the dress didn't fit. Should have been an xs, even though the size tag says S. It was only 8$, she never asked me questions about the item before purchasing it. I'm so sad right now.

I apologize in advance, this is a long one. I've been on Poshmark for 10 months, made 50 sales;47 of those are 5 star ratings; 2 received 4 stars-no clue why as no feedback was left; then I have a 3 star rating. This rating really burns me as the Buyer left false feedback, such as shipping complaint.

She bought on late Friday, I took to post office Saturday morning & she had it on Monday. Also said item was dirty... well in the description I noted that there were a few spots. Complained about size, my description had all the measurements. Said it was poorly packaged - I wrapped it, wrote a thank you note & padded the item with tissue paper. Buyer never asked any questions before buying.

She didn't accept-due to Poshmark policy a week after she received it I received my funds. That was when she did the rating. I left a comment on the buyers "meet the posher" listing calling her out on her rating. She never responded; I blocked her. I don't need buyers like this. Prior to this sale I had a 5 star rating. I've made 6 sales since this experience, all have received 5 stars, & I'm still at 4.9. Frustrating!

I've done the math & to get my average back up to a 5 star rating I'm going to have to sell a lot more - that one 3 star rating really hurt. I take great pride in thoroughly examining items for worthiness of selling or donating, the care & attention I take in posting good pictures & informative listings, & when an item sells its is clean {even purses, jewelry & shoes(insoles, bottoms, etc...)}pressed, carefully folded/packaged, and so on.

Hi @shoe_enchantres I don't include it with my sales but I realized with my 3 less than 5 star ratings that 2 of them were false. One for item description because boots didn't fit over her knees however I included measurements & also a second listing.

Another was saying that the shoes were dirty yet they were exactly as pictures in the photos, all natural light & from every angle. I think that some people don't normally rate but I know Poshmark sends the notifs "so-and-so really wants you to rate your purchase" & it could feel like a nuisance & that we as sellers are actually asking this tho we aren't, thus leaving a negative reaction.

Another thing is that I don't think everyone understands the rating system. Someone thought that if they had anything positive about the experience they needed to select every option: item description, cleanliness, etc. once asked why the one star, she explained that she thought she was supposed to choose everything good about the transaction.

The good thing is that the poor ratings aren't public even tho they still sting a bit. If you do get a bad rating I would ask (on the actual listing) how you can improve for future sales & tag the person. They may not know. Also, feel free to screen shot this & add it to your closet! The good thing is that 4.9 is still a 5 & most buyers see that. The ratio of sales to ratings is also a positive aspect of the rating system so keep your head up 😘

Thanks for your feedback (& for taking the time to read my saga). I know I'm feeling a bit OCD about 4.9 rating & I need to get over it. The funny thing is my 17 year old daughter says "don't stress - it's practically a 5!" I love this post! It is heartbreaking to get a bad rating, esp when it was not deserved. My closet isn't very big and I've only sold a few items, so one bad rating seriously affects the overall average rating. I kinda wish shoppers had to read this before rating their seller experience!

Totally agree with the above @ellebee206 👍 I describe the item, put measurements, brand, size, etc and yet I get a one star rating because the shoe or dress is too tight or doesn't fit right? Seller has a responsibility but the buyer has to communicate and ask questions too. Sometimes I feel I have to put a disclaimer in every listing. Would it be ok if I use this? I'll give credit to you if i do 💕

How do you give out a love note

Hi @sheryljudi after you accept a purchase you can rate it. When you rate it, take into consideration all of the criteria & be sure to leave an accurate rating in the form of stars (the higher the number of stars = the better the rating). Once submitted with a comment, this rating will become a "love note" for the seller. To receive a love note, this process will need to be done for you.

Thanks for this. Buyers don't realize the meaning of a good rating. Just sold some awesome Chanel shoes and I wasn't rated. Ratings for sales like that help futures sales.

TY! I’m a new Posher w/ 12 sales. All but 1 rating was 5 ⭐️ Buyer gave me 3 b/c she thought the item was antique. Desc. was “antique gold & silver tone.” I TY’d her for feedback & apologized. I pointed out that that if antique, the desc would read “antique, gold & silver tone.” I get the dif could be missed on a small screen & will keep that in mind in future listings. Maybe “antiqued gold & silver tone” is better. Thoughts? BTW, item listed at $9.

@ellebee206 wow that's very helpful actually, sometimes more than often people simply choose a star rating without a love note, the note makes the seller not only feel better but also gives them a chance to improve if necessary, I also think its important as a seller to thank the buyer for their rating be it 5⭐s or not because it shows appreciation for the praise or a chance to acknowledge the improvement suggestion! Luckily we now have the option to remove love notes— I had a buyer rate me 5 stars but leave a very nasty love note with flat out lies knowing it can only be seen if she left 5 stars. Very sneaky buyer. Once she noticed I removed it she changed it to 1 star. I do not understand the purpose of rating someone so low, just try to get it returned if you are that displeased.

@shoe_enchantres I totally feel the same but... You shouldn't have to jump through hoops when you have a great item at a great price and you ship timely and securely! If I order something from Kohl's, they don't wrap it like a present and hand write me a personal note... I think this has gone too far because some people just want the praise. And I've yet to receive a free shirt or other gift with purchase from other than posh
