Just added: The letter to show your postal employee if they give you a hard time about using flat rate boxes! There has been a spike in people reporting issues at the PO counters! Even though Poshmark says you can now use Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes, some sellers have reported problems at the post office using these boxes. So it is your choice, but the safest boxes are the regular Priority Mail boxes. The graphic above lists the most common types of boxes I order FOR FREE from USPS.com.

I reuse boxes from Amazon prime or other posh orders! 🌏🌍🌎😀
poshinistajen
@rtwolves Awesome! Way to recycle!

@poshinistajen yes, it's kind of fun to see what other poshers recycle, too!

goldielocks1960
Thank you so much for posting this is have been using the wrong boxes😐
goldielocks1960
If I wrap them in brown paper then they can't see the flat rate, is that okay?
poshinistajen
@goldielocks1960 Yes that should work but the size of the boxes will probably look familiar to the postal employees. I would recommend ordering online the free boxes and then dropping off your unused flat rate boxes at your post office. They will likely appreciate that.
goldielocks1960
@poshinistajen Thank you! I will do that😊

This is soooooo helpful for ladies like me who are just getting started! Can't tell you how may times I've read over and over what boxes will work and which ones won't!! Thank you for doing this!!

@veefatshionista Happy to help! Good luck with your sales!!!
poshinistajen
@miss_sarah_beth Happy to help! USPS has so many different boxes it is confusing trying to figure out which ones work. Good luck!!
poshinistajen
@miss_sarah_beth If you have extra boxes around the house you can use those too, as long as they are not too big. However the USPS boxes are just as easy to order online or pick up free at the local Post Office. Some Poshers use the Tyvek envelopes that are Priority Mail and those work too, but sometimes result in extra wrinkles so personally I prefer the boxes but everyone has preferences!
poshinistajen
@miss_sarah_beth Depends on how big. 1095 might work. Otherwise they do have a large square box that is good for purses and other large items. Not sure on the number though but I think it is either 12"x12" or 16"×16". The measurements are on the USPS web site. Only downside is that you have to order like 10 at a time. However if you find yourself not needing the extra boxes you can always take them to the post office and drop them off.
poshinistajen
@miss_sarah_beth Yes they are available at some of the bigger post offices. Like main post offices and those offices that have mailing windows wi also have boxes. The selection can vary though!
poshinistajen
@miss_sarah_beth The boxes are free and the shipping is free. It may take 10 days to a week to receive them though. So order early!
poshinistajen
@miss_sarah_beth Happy to help! Let me know if you have any more questions!

ebakedgoods
If i might make a suggestion? I have run into the post office not accepting a certain type of their box so I undo the glue and flip the box around inside out and use packing tape to put it back together. You can use any size box that way and they can't stop you just certain ones with priority express etc written one them won't be accepted.
poshinistajen
@ebakedgoods That certain type of box they don't accept is Flat Rate. This is pretty clear in the Poshmark Do's and Don'ts. Flipping those boxes inside out can still get you or your buyer into trouble. Depends on the Postal employees that want to enforce the rules. That package could be flagged for extra postage due when it arrives to your buyer (Or at any post office along the route). (Continued)
poshinistajen
@ebakedgoods (continued) And the buyer has every right to refuse the delivery and send it back. And Poshmark will side with the buyer EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Because the seller didn't read the rules. It's not worth it to break the rules or risk a negative rating. It's way easier to just order the correct boxes or polymailers for free and use those. Which is the purpose of this post. To educate sellers.
ebakedgoods
@poshinistajen wow youre really upset. I was just trying to help with jnformation that was useful to me as i was told by a post office employee that it was ingenious and you can use any box or package as long as its under the weight limit and not those specific labels on them. But its ok. Ill do me and you do you . Thanks a bunch happy poshing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!peace love and posh.
poshinistajen
@ebakedgoods I'm not upset. Just correcting you so your misinformation will not hurt other poshers who try to do the same thing. Not every post office would look kindly on turning an express or flat rate box inside out as they are supposed to be used for that type of specific shipping. This is also a no-no as listed on the US Postal Service web site. You want to risk an issue, go ahead. But please do not tell others to do the same. Have a wonderful day.

Very helpful and kind of you. Wish I had read months earlier 🖒

@jmg11582 My pleasure. I tried using flat rate on February 16th. It still has not arrived to the buyer. It keeps bouncing between Memphis and San Diego. (It was mailed from Iowa and going to San Diego) so geographically it makes little sense. It just isn't worth the potential delay or issues!
pinkforless_86

Yes! Thank you! I have been having some of my Posh purchases in flat rate boxes shipped to me taking 7-10 days. I asked the post office why... They told me because the label doesn’t match the box. My post office is picky but others aren’t so picky.
That’s why I don’t think other post offices have issues with the FR boxes.
This is VERY helpful! Thank you! ♥️
poshinistajen
@cnslavick My pleasure! There was a memo sent out to the Post Offices about the Poshmark - USPS agreement, but many offices didn't read the memo or the automated machines haven't been updated. I sent one item recently in a flat rate box and it took 12 days to get to the buyer. It's just not worth it to risk such a delay.
bnthomas25
Thank you for sharing. I was having issues at the post office the other day.

@tthomas007 good info regarding shipping.

@bnthomas25 Thanks for sending to me. I will ssend my folwers as well. Thank you @poshinistajen for posting this information.
poshinistajen
@bnthomas25 Happy to help! I talked with one of the postal employees today and she said they still didn't know anything about the Flat rate boxes being okay for Poshmark labels. So this is going to take some time....

asmar82
@miss_sarah_beth I use the 12 x 12 boxes for large bundles, blazers, coats etc. They are great for that.
thriftbizzyizzy
Do they have to go in priority mailing?
thriftbizzyizzy
@poshinistajen hi ! If I hAve my own shipping bags, can I use to mail things or do items always go in priority mailer?
poshinistajen
@thriftbizzyizzy You can use your own packaging if you like. You just can't use Priority Express boxes and I recommend not using Flat Rate as there are still some Post Offices that won't accept flat rate boxes with Poshmark labels. You don't need to buy your own Tyvek envelopes or boxes. USPS provides them for free. I order them online about once a month.
poshinistajen
@asmar82 Yes! Those are awesome for bundles or for big hats and purses!
thriftbizzyizzy
@poshinistajen will things ship just as fast in my own bag?
poshinistajen
@thriftbizzyizzy Yes they should! You may want to order the Priority Mail stickers to put on them. (They are free) so the postal carriers can easily see they are Priority Mail. It's not necessary, but it can be beneficial around the holidays when there is a lot more mail going around the country.
poshinistajen
@annjustus03 My pleasure! Let me know if you have any questions or need any help!
poshinistajen
@annjustus03 Those are the box numbers. You can see them on the boxes by the barcode. But they are mostly used for searching the USPS web site to find and order them! It makes it easier to find them and you will eventually have a favorite. Mine is 1097 since it fits 2 items nicely usually.
poshinistajen
@annjustus03 Oh, they can be big numbers for a few reasons. 1. It's an item not for sale. 2. It's on hold for someone to purchase later. 3. It's a listing like this that is informational. 4. It is priced really high so there is enough room in the number to reduce by 10% so a price drop notification goes out to all the "likers". So for instance if I update this listing, I can drop the price by 10% and everyone who liked it will get a notification about this listing.

@daisy46405 My pleasure!! You too!!
kriss10fashion
Very nice post! Yes, you are correct. USPS clerks are not knowledgeable.

Sooo helpful THANK YOU! 🌺🌸🌺
azuremountain
@daisy005 I once sent something in an extra long USPS box, even added extra postage, my post office said it was fine. They charged the buyer extra postage on the other side so I had to mail her a check! Lost a lit of money too 😓
poshinistajen
@azuremountain Ouch! That is not good when the P.O. does that. I have a kitchen scale to weigh packages to make sure I have under 5 pounds or need to get an overweight label. I have never run into the extra long or oversize box issue thank goodness!
azuremountain
@poshinistajen I’m getting a scale! Just selling my own stuff and that of a friend or two but still, don’t need the stress!
poshinistajen
@azuremountain Totally agree! It gets easier I swear! Good luck! You are starting out the right way! I wish I had taken more time to downsize my closet first before sourcing and becoming a reseller! My closets are bursting at the seams with inventory that needs to be photographed and listed.

poshinistajen
@heatherrow My pleasure! I find it is much easier to search by these numbers and order boxes for free online. Good luck!
shorteesaywhat
I have issues with using larger sizes and my friend doesn’t. We both live in different cities.
poshinistajen
@shorteesaywhat If it says Priority Mail or Priority Mail Flat Rate it is allowed. You cannot use Priority Mail Express boxes. Sometimes we have to educate the post office workers as they haven't read the memo that was sent out regarding Poshmark packages.
poshinistajen
@shorteesaywhat Also Poshmark post allows up to 5 pounds. Over 5 pounds requires additional money from the seller to upgrade the label. If you don't, the post office charges the buyer to deliver it and they have every right to refuse a postage due package. Which means you lose the sale. Not sure of this is what you are encountering at the P.O.
shorteesaywhat
I used a flat rate box one time and the lady ripped my box open.
poshinistajen
@shorteesaywhat Oh My! That is crazy! She evidently did not know that we can use them now. (As of last year.) If you have problems with your post office, don't be afraid to contact the postmaster general because they will take care of the rude employees.
shorteesaywhat
It’s actually their entire staff that doesn’t know
sisterskloset
Thank you so much for this post it has helped me ship my first sale. 📬
poshinistajen
@sisterskloset My pleasure! Congratulations on your first sale!!! Keep up the good work!
fraufinster
Love this! I’ve had sooo many issues with sellers sending packages improperly and causing severe delays and requiring me to pay additional postage and to make special trips to the post office. It’s so frustrating. As a seller myself, I just recently realized that there are so many different types of boxes. I knew not to use express, but didn’t know about flat rate causing issues.
poshinistajen
@daffodill21 It is getting better! Poshmark and USPS have updated the Poshmark labels to give instructions to the PO workers now because of all the issues. Have you noticed it within the last month or so?? Thank goodness it is in time for the holidays!
fraufinster
@poshinistajen I’ve only had one issue in the past month with a flat rate box being held for additional postage at the post office. The other recent issues resulted from sellers not understanding (or maybe caring?) that there’s a difference between priority mail and priority express boxes. Some have slipped through the cracks and made it to me anyway, but usually the post office refuses to deliver them.
poshinistajen
@daffodill21 Oh my goodness. That is crazy! I don't think I have ever had a seller send me something in an Express box. I've just experienced shipping delays with Flat Rate. I'm guessing they are new and just don't read the information Poshmark provides or maybe you're right, they don't care.
fraufinster
@poshinistajen I honestly think it’s happened like 10 times. That’s why I was so excited to see this! Definitely reposting! 😄
gp_2018
Hi! My post office employee asked me to pay an additional $6 for shipping on a flat rate box because he said it was a medium size and the shipping label did not say medium and stated that those boxes ship for $12😣I told him that’s what poshmark sends and another employee said just send it that way but I was so confused . Can we use any size priority box as long as it’s below the 5 pounds?
poshinistajen
@gp_2018 You can use Priority Mail or Priority Mail Flat Rate for up to 5 lbs. Anything over that will require additional payment. Be sure not to use Priority Mail Express boxes.
gp_2018
@poshinistajen thanks for your response! It was a flat rate with a weight of 2 pounds, they just stressed me cuz they didn’t know how it worked he made it seem we can’t use the different size flat rate or regular priority boxes
poshinistajen
@gp_2018 my pleasure! Poshmark recently updated the labels with instructions for the post office employees. If you look closely its below the delivery address and above the tracking number! Just show them that next time! Good luck!
poshinistajen
@janas11 Your buyers should not be charged extra as long as it was under 5 pounds and a Priority Mail (regular, Flat Rate or Regional Rate) box. As long as it didn't say Priority Mail Express you should be fine! If you have the issue again have the PO worker read that little print on the label that tells them how to ring it up!
poshinistajen
@janas11 I try not to use Flat Rate because of all the confusion still... you can order boxes online in packs of 10 and they come flat so they are easy to store. Plus they are free and you will have them on hand when you sell something.
cajunteacher2
I use Med flat and put in the the turning thingy inside Usps and never has been a problem
poshinistajen
@cajunteacher2 That is great you have never had a problem! I've been on Poshmark since 2014 and we have been able to use flat rate since the end of 2017 but there have still been issues with some POs.
bbargains3
@poshinistajen Just an update...I was on USPS last night and seen that they are gonna make Shipping prices higher in 2019 ...will Poshmark update the shipping prices automatically as well ...just wondering.
Hope
poshinistajen
@hopeh227 hi there! Poshmark has a negotiated rate with the US postal service for posh packages. If there is an increase the rate will potentially go up and they will renegotiate. If it is not a huge increase it may stay at the same rate. Either way we will get a notification from Posh several weeks to a month in advance of any increase.
bbargains3
@poshinistajen Ok awesome news ...was just wondering thank you for the information.
poshinistajen
@hopeh227 My pleasure!
bbargains3
@poshinistajen I as well have had a postal worker tell me the same with using the wrong box even though I have read over and over no matter the size if flat rate it’s by the weight and if it fits it ships...she wasn’t very pleasant when I had told her I’ve used the same box just days before and everything went fine ...but it is a little confusing if you use marked boxes with different sizes this is true ...and thanks again for the info about the change with pricing.
crzythriftycool
THANK YOU. I’ve had so many problems with the flat rate boxes. The post office simply would not accept them. (Question: where the box says “priority mail postage required”- should something go there?)
poshinistajen
@umearth2chelsea Some of the post offices didn't read the memo that was sent out regarding the Posh Post (Poshmark's deal with USPS) and so there is new verbiage on the actual labels with instructions for how to ring in the boxes upon acceptance. You should be able to show that to the postal worker to get them to accept it. The only way you would owe more postage is if you're over 5 pounds.
poshinistajen
@umearth2chelsea As far as the "Priority Mail Postage Required" printed on the boxes, that just means your label you get from Poshmark with the buyers address needs to say Priority Mail. Poshmark generates those so it's all taken care of. Just print the label and tape it on.
crzythriftycool
@poshinistajen Thank you!! You’re a life saver ☺️
poshinistajen
@umearth2chelsea My pleasure! Let me know if you need any additional help!

okika
hi! i used a small flat rate priority box & a medium flat rate & the woman at usps told me they have to say "mail only" on the box and not "small flat rate" or medium or that my label has to say small or medium flat rate?
poshinistajen
@okika Thatbis not accurate. You can use any flat rate box. (This wasn't the case previously.) And USPS sent a bulletin out to every post office about allowing Poshmark packages to be sent in flat rate boxes. However A LOT of post offices didn't read or disseminate this info. So on the bottom of your label in tiny print under the address it tells the postal worker how to ring it up correctly and which bulletin they need to read. Just point that out and you should be good to go!
okika
@poshinistajen thank you so much!! i was confused because i have been using medium flat rate boxes this whole time and never had any issues. i appreciate it!
poshinistajen
@okika If they still give you crap, let them know you will be filing a complaint with the Postmaster General. That will get their attention.
poshinistajen
@okika My pleasure! They were trained well on the old way however Flat Rate boxes have been acceptable on Posh Post since the end of 2016.
mlcturpin
@poshinistajen do you know if the O-FRB2 box from usps is ok?
poshinistajen
@mlcturpin Hi there! Yes I believe that is the Medium Flat Rate box. Totally fine to use. They are a bit thicker than the non- flat rate ones so perfect for bundles!
gillypiexo
Oh my Gosh. They only had the 3 options of boxes at my post office, I can't remember if they said express on them, the 3 options were the small box, medium and large flat rate boxes. Will it get sent back to me??? FREAKING OUT
poshinistajen
@gillypiexo If they said Flat Rate you should be just fine! As long as they didn't say Express! Did you take them to the counter to get scanned?
gillypiexo
I now have no idea what the boxes said at all, I wish postmark wud have told me there are boxes I can't use, all it said was put it in a box. F#$%
gillypiexo
@poshinistajen I did not take them to the counter, I put the box in their drop off just to the side of the counter. I am extra nervous. This is my first sale and I didn't know there were boxes I couldn't use or how to do it. I'm pretty sure it said flat rate.
poshinistajen
@gillypiexo If it said Flat Rate you will be fine! No worries! If not, it will be returned to you. There is a place on the app that talks about which boxes to use but it is seriously hard to find, especially for new users.
gillypiexo
@poshinistajen yes that is where I just found some of the info then frantically searched for more info thank GOD for this post thank you!
poshinistajen
@gillypiexo Happy to help! Don't be shy! Ask any questions when you need help! I am happy to help new Poshers! 😉
celina107
Thank you so much for this!! I tried looking up videos and articles online to find out about these boxes and you just made my life SO much easier. I'm new to this, so this post really helps ❤
poshinistajen
@celina107 My pleasure! Feel free to ask any questions!
ivymasters
Yep, My post office made me put my tiny flat rate box into a regular Priority box...which concerns me because it has been 24 hours and the item still has not been scanned.
poshinistajen
@ivymasters If you took it to the counter they should have scanned it. (Ask for a receipt with tracking number.) Also on that receipt is a survey you can take, especially if they are being difficult. Tracking info is only downloaded to Poshmark a few times a day so maybe it will make the next round.
poshinistajen
@ivymasters There is a tiny little text note on your Poshmark label that tells the Post office workers how to handle our packages and ring them up. Next time ask them to read the label. If they still give you crap, contact the postmaster general and complain. They take that seriously.
ivymasters
@poshinistajen Is there away that we can get a copy of the "Memo" to educate our local USPS office? It would really help.
ivymasters
@poshinistajen That is what I thought too, but they insist that I just drop it off and then they scan items after closing.
poshprice518
Thank you so much for this info!
savvynfashion
This is helpful! I thought the small priority mall flat rate boxes were acceptable ?
poshinistajen
@ashleysund All flat rate boxes are acceptable now. However you may get some flack from USPS employees who never got the memo. Or the system may take longer to route your package in an efficient manner. So it is just easier to order the ones on their web site as listed above and you won't have these issues.
shebopcloset
Where do you see the box number? I can't see it on the USPS website. Thank you!
poshinistajen
@shebopcloset It will say "Priority Mail Box 1092" in the title. Or you can search for the numbers using the search feature.
bellaboome
This is great information! I just started to get comments from post office about proper size box to use given the prepaid postage label paid by weight. Thanks!
poshinistajen
@bellaboome Gah. Yep. This is why I say this info is still valid. So many PO employees STILL don't know we can use flat rate boxes. I just don't screw with them because it isn't worth the argument at the counter.
bellaboome
@poshinistajen 😂 lol.. have a great night and thanks for the shares!
tellsome1
What do you think is the best way to ship a T shirt?
Also thank you so much for this info ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
poshinistajen
@tellsome1 You could do a polymailer but personally I like to ship in boxes so things don't get too wrinkled. Something like box 1092 or 1097 would work!
tellsome1
Also can you recommend a box to ship shoes?
Thank you
tellsome1
@poshinistajen u da best! I know it’s late and I didn’t think u would reply so quickly! 10/10 for that!
poshinistajen
@tellsome1 LOL! Just got home from the bars! There is a specific shoe box size you can order online or sometimes find in the post office. If you are sending in an actual shoe box. Many of those won't fit in that priority mail box. So I usually order some of the 12 x 12 boxes!
tellsome1
@poshinistajen hahaha niceee hope u had a fun night :)
The 12x12 boxes will fit the shoe box?
poshinistajen
@tellsome1 12 x 12 will fit MOST shoe boxes yes... but can't be sure as I have had some 14 inch boxes. If you need a measuring tape, they have them at the dollar store! I also give them away as gifts with purchase sometimes! Lol... something every Posher can use!
tellsome1
@poshinistajen Thank you again
Poshmark MVP right here 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
poshinistajen
@tellsome1 My pleasure! Let me know if you have any other questions! Happy to help!!

Any cheaper alternative to packing peanuts or bubble wrap when filling in the empty spaces so my items dont move around too much?
poshinistajen
@tellsome1 I use tissue paper and if there is a lot of space to fill, then I reuse packing materials I have received (packing peanuts, packing paper, bubble wrap or those inflatable bags) if all else fails, plastic grocery sacks or sacks stuffed with newspaper as a last resort.
tellsome1
@poshinistajen ty ty ty! Have a goodnight 👍🏼👍🏼
tellsome1
Do you know if usps bring the boxes u ordered to your door or leave at the community mail box?
poshinistajen
@tellsome1 Depends on the situation. They will drop them where you usually get your packages. If your community mailbox is outside they are likely to deliver to your porch/door. If you live in a secured apartment or condo they will leave them at the community mailbox likely.
poshinistajen
@tellsome1 My carrier delivers them to my porch as they do with all big packages that won't fit in the mailbox.
tellsome1
@poshinistajen okk thank u for the descriptive info 🙏🏼🙏🏼

You can use there bags too its so awesome thanks for the great advice😀
astone121
@poshinistajen hello! Sorry to bother you but just wondering if u have run into the issue of a large bundle not fitting into any usps boxes that are available. I have a bundle I just sold with 9 items (half being shoes) and there is no way for me to fit everything in 1 box. Not sure if u have any advice or if I should ask Poshmark directly. Thanks in advance!
poshinistajen
@astone121 Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! You can use a regular box you may have around the house, it doesn't have to be Priority boxes. I have also seen where sellers will fill two boxes and tape them together securely. Be sure to weigh your box because of it is over 5 pounds you will need to upgrade the label and pay extra.
poshinistajen
@astone121 If you use a big box or tape two together you also need to measure it: Per USPS policy, the maximum combined length and girth of the box must be no greater than 108". Meaning the combined measurement of the longest side and the distance around the thickest part can’t be more than 108".
astone121
@poshinistajen thank u so much. That’s a great idea! Appreciate your prompt response 💕

Thank you for posting this. It brings needed clarification
beach213
Great information. My question does Poshmark have an agreement with USPS on using the flat rate boxes with they label? If so where do I find this agreement. ? I have been using the flat rate without a problem until last week when 2 postal employee's at the same time told me I could not use them. Please clarify so confused.
poshinistajen
@beach213 Yes Poshmark and the USPS have an agreement and Flat Rate boxes are allowed. It has been an issue for some time. This is why it now says on the label how to ring up our packages. There is a memo that went out to all the Post Offices, but many didn't read it our train their employees on the new agreement.
poshinistajen
@beach213 I do not have a copy of it but you can join one of the Poshmark groups on Facebook and I am sure someone still has a copy of it you can post. Essentially the postmaster general would like to know which POs are not following this new rule and they can be reported for it.
beach213
@poshinistajen Thank you. I sent a report in to USPS complaining about the clerks that gave me a hard time with the flat rate box. The funny thing is I ship a package on Thursday the clerk did not say a word about the flat rate box, then a ship one on Friday different clerk and he gave me a hard time about it and said it was not allowed.
poshinistajen
@beach213 Eventually they will learn. It's just unfortunate WE have to be the ones to teach them or report them. It's really simple and the instructions are right there in little print on the label.
randgirl
What if you have a wide-brimmed hat that doesn't fit in any of the priority boxes? I can use my own box but can I still use Poshmark's priority mailing label?
poshinistajen
@randgirl Yes you can use your own box with the Poshmark label. As long as it doesn't exceed the 108" maximum. (Scroll up a few comments to see how this is measured)
poshinistajen
@pdyer612 Yes I save all my packing material from online orders and reuse them for Poshmark orders. Great idea!
ksoackman
After shipping things for several months the post office has now turned me away because of the box. Can you tell me where on the box the number is so I can tell looking at the ones I have already have at home if I can use them? They all look so much alike. I’ve used all of them before but suddenly they’re not OK. Thanks for your help.
poshinistajen
@ksoackman Honestly you can use any Priority Mail box as long as it doesn't say Priority Mail Express. But there have been increasing issues with using Flat Rate ones (even though they are totally allowed). As far as the box number it's in small print usually next to the dimensions and/or barcode on the box.
ksoackman
@poshinistajen yeah,up until now I’ve used all but the express. Got a grouchy postal worker today.
poshinistajen
@ksoackman Oh geez. That sucks.. did they see the little "instructions" on how to ring up Poshmark packages on the label? And just ignore that?
ksoackman
@poshinistajen No, he didn’t want to listen to anything I had to say. Oh well. Hopefully posh Mark keeps communicating to the Postal Service so the message keeps trickling down.
poshinistajen
@ksoackman I would ask for a supervisor next time they do that to you. They need to read their memos and learn how to do their jobs.
poshinistajen
@ksoackman I just posted the letter above for you to show them if needed! Good luck!!
8xnana
Thank you so much!!!!😊😊😊😊
poshinistajen
@beach213 I just updated this listing with the USPS memo! You can show this to them if they hassle you again! Good luck!

@ellasaunt @8xnana My pleasure!!! 😁

@poshinistajen thanks!!
fladaw60
Thank you for the updated letter. Being a postal employee (I am a mail processor), I experienced a window clerk telling me I could not use a flat rate box and he had been taking them for months. Lol. He got into it with another window clerk in front of customers because he did not want her to correct him. She took my package with no problem! She said he needed to be retrained. Lol.🤣🤣🤣
beach213
@poshinistajen Thank you.

@poshinistajen Thank you so much for this information! So helpful! 😊 Just a question, can I use any box that I have laying around to ship out a heavy jacket to a buyer, and use the shipping label they provided or do I have to use a box only from the post office to ship out the item? I am a bit confused 😭
poshinistajen
@_loreh Hi there! Yes you can use any box to ship! It's also a good idea to weigh your package after you have it closed up. For heavy coats/shoes/big bundles, they may be over 5 pounds. And if that is the case you'll need to buy a new label for the overage. Posh Post is good for up to 5 lbs and anything over that must be paid by seller. I have a kitchen scale I use to weigh my packages. Good luck and Congratulations on your sale!
_loreh
@poshinistajen Thank you so so much! :)
poshinistajen
@_loreh My pleasure! Feel free to hit me up if you have any other questions!
poshinistajen
@jessicad1015 I would leave it in the same Box. It is stated very clearly on the posh mark label to not send these packages postage to and included is instructions on how to ring them up.
poshinistajen
@jessicad1015 If they still give you crap for using a flat rate Box then show them the letter that is on this listing. Ask them to call the postal service contact on the letter for clarification.
poshinistajen
@jessicad1015 Yes Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes are acceptable. Sometimes we have to educate the Postal employees. Some didn't get or read the memo so they are still going off of old rules...

@poshinistajen I received my flat rate boxes and envelopes over the weekend.. I have an order all packaged in an envelope ready to go, but after reading this I am concerned. If I crossed out ”flat rate” on the envelope do you think it would be okay? Thank you so much!
poshinistajen
@l_marie1 No need to cross out flat rate on the boxes. You can do two things. Drop in the chute (package drop) and bypass the humans or go to the counter and ask for a receipt for mailing. If they tell you you can't use that box, bring up this listing and show them the letter and ask that they read the letter. They should have received it at every post office. If they don't comply, ask for a supervisor.
poshinistajen
@l_marie1 If they still don't comply get their names and contact the lady on the letter to report them. The ONLY thing that requires additional money is if your package is over 5 pounds.
partduex
@poshinistajen I was reading this in poshmark policy... it kept saying 108 but didn’t specify if it was in inches centimeters etc lol
partduex
@poshinistajen my precious box I tried to send was bigger and I ended up altering it and now it’s 15x12x6.5 it’s frustrating because it’s now like there’s a poshmark customer hotline that we can call. We have to send an email and wait.
poshinistajen
@partduex The max is 108 inches. Did you take it to the post office and it was rejected for size? If you take the longest length plus girth (width x 2 plus height x 2) that will equal your dimensions. You can also Google "how to measure a box for USPS" to find this info.
gingerjenkins11
Thank you for posting this! I got into a fights with 3 different post office workers today over this issue! Gonna try to use regular priority boxes from now on.
poshinistajen
@gingerjenkins11 You should be able to show them this letter. And ask that they call if they have questions. We shouldn't have to fight with them... but yeah it is safer to just use the regular Priority Mail boxes...

@shonadunfee1987 Here is the letter and more information about boxes.
katandchase
Awesome post! We are at the post office now and they made us remove our shipment from the flat rate box and use the priority mail box instead. 🤦🏻♀️
poshinistajen
@katandchase Did you show them the letter? I would report them for non-compliance.
katandchase
@poshinistajen Chase ran the box in and they forced him to change it. The PO clerk he handed it to scan in just cut and removed our label before even fully explaining their problem. He told him to get the other box and re-make the package. I then did an online search because I didn’t think it was right & found your post and the letter. We liked your post and saved a screenshot of the letter in case this kind of thing happens again. How would we report it? To Poshmark?
poshinistajen
@katandchase You can report it to the lady on the letter or to your local postmaster general.
katandchase
@poshinistajen Thank you so much for the post and the information! :)
poshinistajen
@katandchase My pleasure!!
daniwoo2
@poshinistajen how can I get this letter. I only have an issue with my local post office. Poshmark has not helped me or given me this letter. The only good shoebox is a flat rate box.
poshinistajen
@daniwoo2 The letter is on this post and you can show it to them. You can use any Priority Mail or Priority Mail Flat Rate box. You cannot use Express. Poshmark does not provide this letter that I am aware of. If you have problems have the local PO call the contact on the letter. If they are still being jerks about it, contact your local postmaster to complain. All post offices have received this letter MULTIPLE TIMES. They need to read it and understand it.
daniwoo2
@poshinistajenThanks. I took a pic of it. Just didn't know if I was available not as a pic . Yes my local post office are total jerks. You have no idea. I have made many complaints about them and even asked that I talked to someone above them but every time, the local manager gets it. USPS doesn't care. I will call this guy and ask him to call them. Thanks again.
rse_711
Do you know if you can use the USPS priority mail padded flat rate envelopes?
poshinistajen
@kim_pm Hi there! Yes you can use any Priority Mail boxes or envelopes (regular or flat rate) as long as they are not Express.
loveslove123
@poshinistajen hi can you send me the letter in my email mary167162@gmail.com , I been asking Poshmark to send me updated letter and they haven’t . Can you use plain brown boxes ?
poshinistajen
@loveslove123 Yes you can use plain brown boxes. Or order boxes for free on usps.com. Poshmark does not allow offsite communication so I cannot email this to you. But you can like this listing, screenshot it and show to your PO if needed. Or log onto one of the Facebook groups and ask for it there.

yac_kim
Hello i have a question can we use a Medium flat rate box to ship shoes.
poshinistajen
@yac_kim Yes. Any of the flat rate boxes work, but if you have problems show the little instructions on the label to the postal worker. If they tell you that you can't use flat rate, show them the letter on this post. It is safer to use the regular Priority Mail shoe box from the standpoint that your shoes will fit better and no post office confusion.
yac_kim
@poshinistajen I tried to ship some shoes yesterday in a medium flat rate box and the lady told me no you cannot use those boxes you need to use the regular priority mail boxes
And I told her well I’ve used these boxes in the past and never got told I could not use them.
She has always given me poor customer service I’m shipping the box today at a different post office some people just don’t want to accept they are wrong
poshinistajen
@yac_kim So sorry to hear that. You may want to ask to speak to her supervisor or report her to the Postmaster General. The other option is to call the lady on the letter above. Good luck!
aprilquevedo
@poshinistajen hey there! Can I use the large flat rate box with the label that I got with the sale?

i just attempted to mail something and they told me i can’t use the medium flat rate box!!! so confused
poshinistajen
@haleydavis974 They don't know what they are talking about and are trying to enforce OLD rules. Show them the letter above and read through this posting. This is why I personally don't use flat rate. USPS employees don't read the memos that say it is okay for us to use them. And they end up wasting OUR TIME and gas money.
tellebellyy
Thank you for posting
kathymichell
@poshinistajen I was planning on buying poli mailers 100 count of amazon for my sales. Is that allowed?
poshinistajen
@kathymichell Yes you can use polymailers or boxes you already have at home. But not every seller wants to invest in polymailers. This post is for people who want to get the free boxes from USPS. It's all personal preference. Some people like the polymailers, personally I don't as they don't seem to protect the items as well and my post man shoves them into my mailbox wrinkling items. I once received a pair of Prada heels in a polymailer that were scuffed up and unprotected.
sewveryblessed
@poshinistajen Thanks! Where is the original letter PDF? It is printing blurry for me.

@sewveryblessed I don't have it. Try the Facebook groups. Many people have posted a better quality version there. This is not high enough quality to print but can be shown to them on screen.
keshangels
Hellllllppp 😫 I am a newbie to Poshmark and today I got a comment from a buyer that they are holding her package hostage because they want more for shipping. I used a flat rate box......I know that they are allowed but for some reason they are giving her a hard time. She says that she will have to return it for this reason. What should/can I do to help and or avoid the return. Thank you for any suggestions 😩☹️❤️
poshinistajen
@lhenichnaya1 Did you use a Flat Rate Express box?
keshangels
@poshinistajen I don’t believe it was express I know those aren’t allowed- I do know it was flat rate. I emailed Poshmark support. What else can I do? Any recommendations? 🤷🏻♀️☹️
poshinistajen
@lhenichnaya1 I would get the post office information from the buyer and give Ambrose (the lady in the letter above) a call or an email. You can also provide her contact info to the buyer to give to the post office so they can make the call. If you mailed it in a plain flat rate box, they cannot charge your buyer. If it gets returned to you, submit a complaint to both Poshmark and USPS and Poshmark will take care of it.
keshangels
@poshinistajen thank you!!!!!
poshinistajen
@lhenichnaya1 Happy to help! Let me know how it goes! Just know that Poshmark support will make things right..
bbl030504
Can you please clarify if flat rate padded envelopes work? I’ve read yes but they seem to be marked out in your post. Thanks!
poshinistajen
@bbl030504 Yes they work. But use with caution. If you take to the counter at the Post Office they may not accept it because they don't know they are allowed. All Priority Flat Rate packaging is allowed now but unfortunately many sellers are still having issues. If you do, show them the letter in the last photo.
bbl030504
@poshinistajen thank you! I ship from home and my mailman is easy so fingers crossed it’ll be no problem :)
poshinistajen
@tjhahn2004 Definitely file a complaint! You have every right to use Priority Mail or Prio5Mail Flat Rate packaging. The postal employees need to READ the memo above and follow the new rules. So many horror stories here.. so sorry you had to deal with this!
edistyles
Thank you so much @poshinistajen for this info. I just went to drop off a package in the small flat rate box & they said the can take it but the buyer might be charged extra for shipping. He gave a bunch of "shoe box" sized boxes. He said those are the correct ones to use. He said they are making changes this year to there computers which will create problems with the boxes we've been using. It was a little confusing.
poshinistajen
@edislimes Sounds like the classic case of another Postal employee that did not see the memo allowing us to use flat rate boxes. This is why I don't recommend using them unless you are armed with the letter above. Your buyer should not have to pay to receive the box. If she does, it needs to be reported so it can be fixed and she can be refunded.
giannadesigns
Hi :)
Thank you for posting this as it is very helpful for new Poshers!!
I was wondering if you know if the USPS shoe box is allowed?
If no, do you have any suggestions on what size USPS box to use to ship shoes ? Most of my shoes for sale are with out box so I have been wondering which box to use to ship them. Thank you :) I am sharing this post right now cause I know how helpful it will be for others 😀😀🤗🤗👕👨👧👧👙👗👨👦👦👠👛🕶
poshinistajen
@giannadesigns Hi there! You can definitely use the Priority Mail shoe box! I order those for free from the web site along with 1095, 1097 and 1092. Those are my most frequently ordered boxes for Poshmark sales! You can use regular Priority Mail or Priority Mail Flat Rate, just not Priority Mail Express boxes. I recommend the regular Priority Mail ones for the least amount of trouble!
giannadesigns
@poshinistajen thank you 🤗. I was just at the post office today with a priority mail box and they asked me to only use priority mail boxes that say “mailing box” And not to use the boxes that say flat rate on them? So I had to take it out and repack it into the priority mail “mailing” box. No big deal, just confusing. I think the post office is giving out incorrect info maybe?
poshinistajen
@giannadesigns Yes they are giving you bad information. Flat rate boxes have been for allowed since the end of 2017. You just need to show the letter posted above and the small print instructions on the label about how to ring up your package. If they are being rude or difficult I would call and report them or ask to speak to a manager. Sorry you went through this. But this is exactly why I don't recommend using flat rate unless you're ready with this info.
giannadesigns
@poshinistajen thanks again. I’m shipping shoes out in a medium flat rate box tomorrow morning so I will see how it goes :)
The problem is that shoes won’t fit in any of the “mailing boxes” they claim to be requiring.
Have a good night & Happy Poshing ☺️😊🤗
simplypandora
I have been using the medium priority flat rate boxes with no issue until today. I went to a different post office(not my normal one). They refused to accept them. I couldn't understand why.
poshinistajen
@simplypandora Ugh! That sucks. So sorry you had to deal with that. They just don't know. Did you show them the small print on the label? Sometimes that helps.
amouroc
@clombardo5 check this letter out. See if it helps by taking it to the post office. 🧡amourOC
the_olch
Hi quick question can you use The large Flat rate boxes?
poshinistajen
@flipfashions Yes you can but if your Post Office tells you that you can't, show then the letter on this post. They are allowed. Have them read directions on the label to ring it up.
the_olch
@poshinistajen thank you🥰🥰
converse1980s
@poshinistajen i ran into the same problem today and didn't notice the Priority Mail boxes said Flat Rate. I tried finding it in the posts and couldn't--what is the difference in the Flat Rate, versus regular USPS boxes?
poshinistajen
@converse1980s Flat rate say flat rate and they used to not be allowed. Now they are allowed but not all the postal employees know that. So that is why I recommend ordering the regular Priority Mail boxes online. You're less likely to have an issue with them.
poshinistajen
@victorian112091 Chances are you were using boxes that were okay to use. They are just having communication issues with the individual post offices getting the message to employees. You CAN use Flat Rate. Just be prepared to show them the letter above.
trendyfashions
Hi there, I was reading down on the comments and maybe I missed the answer. I am shipping out a purse tomorrow and I don’t want to smash it in the largest flat rate priority box. I already printed my label PM sends when we sell. Can I use my own brown box and the label I already printed?
poshinistajen
@trendyfashions Hi there! Yes you can use any box you already have. Doesn't have to be Priority Mail box. Congratulations on your sale!
vanessa_marie12
@poshinistajen So this label we print out when we have a sale - does it cover any size of the flat rate boxes that are priority mail (red) so long as it’s under 5lbs? I don’t need an upgraded label or pay for extra shipping? Sorry if you’ve already answered this.
poshinistajen
@vanessa_marie12 Correct. You can use any box you already have or any of the Priority Mail regular or Flat Rate boxes. Weight is up to 5 lbs. Over 5lbs and you have to get an upgraded label through the app. Just be sure you do not use Priority Mail Express boxes as those are not covered under the agreement with USPS.
vanessa_marie12
@poshinistajen TY!!!! 🙌🏽
erikataha3
Hi! I know u can use priority mail but my box says “Large Flat Rate Box for domestic and international use”. It also has military info to fill in. Can I use that to ship my items?
poshinistajen
@erikataha3 Yes you can use any flat rate box as long as it doesn't say Express. If they give you any trouble show them the instructions on the label at the bottom on how to ring it up. If that doesnt work show them the letter on this post! Good luck!
poshinistajen
@trends1817 Correct. You just have to be sure you have one of the acceptable boxes (Priority Mail regular or flat rate) and it must be 5 pounds or less.
poshinistajen
@trends1817 If you don't find the correct boxes, the Tyvek mailing envelope that is Priority Mail also works.
dawnla
I have to chime in. Poshmark’s site to this day still states that we can use USPS Priority mail Flat Rate Boxes. It further indicates NOT to use express. However all the post offices near me will NOT allow Flat Rate box usage with the Posh label. I notified Poshmark months again. No change since at either the post office nor Poshmark’s website.
dawnla
I also have inquired why the over 5 lbs shipping fees to seller are so high - as mathematically it makes no sense. About $4 for 1 lb add and $7 to add 2 lbs. to the same box. Really? Take a look at 10lbs rate - OMG!! Not logical and even more demotivating. Again asked Posh. No answers. Let’s remember too that these costs are on top of the $6.79 the buyer pays!
poshinistajen
@dawnla You can use Flat Rate or Regular Priority Mail. It has been that way since late 2017 after they announced it at Poshfest in Chicago. Unfortunately it is the USPS that hasn't accurately communicated it to their local post offices or if they have it was lost in the shuffle. I would recommend calling the lady listed on the letter above and filing a formal complaint through her and your local postmaster general.
dawnla
@poshinistajen thanks for the input. I have addressed with PO with letter and they are adamant that we cannot use Flat Rate. They said they can’t control what Poshmark tells us. It would be nice if Poshmark would take responsibility to work this out with the USPS in support of sellers or just remove flat rate boxes as being approved to decrease the problems. Sad no response or action from them.
poshinistajen
@dawnla That is so sad your post office literally cannot read. Definitely contact the lady on the letter to tell her what you are going through. She has been great about taking care of this. It is her job to maintain the partnership between USPS and Poshmark and making sure the USPS workers do their jobs.
dawnla
@poshinistajen I’m done spending time on this. I ship my own boxes or priority only. Poshmark is aware and negotiated the deal with USPS and should take responsibility to fix the issue with them or change the deal. I just feel bad for the new Poshers that encounter issues. Posh is fully aware.
pisspauvre
@poshinistajen my question is if you drop them on the counter and not wait in line, because you shouldn’t need to if the postage is already on it- what happens if one pkg has already notified shipped but the other one, that happens to be in a priority box medium (the cubic one, not the skinnier flat one) has not notified as shipped? I
pisspauvre
used flat rate as required even have the graphic saved to my pics- it just doesn’t include the cubic one in the graphic but I assumed it was okay to use since it’s medium flat rate priority. It’s a pair of shoes I didn’t want to crush. What do I do? Assume they haven’t scanned it yet or know that they’re turning it away and at this point it’s been tossed in a bin that isn’t going out? Shipped them both this morning at 930. 🤷♀️😭😭😭
poshinistajen
@pisspauvre Don't worry about it. It just wasn't scanned or maybe it didn't make the cutoff for the data push from USPS to Poshmark that happens several times a day. I have had the same thing happen many times on packages dropped off at the same time. Just give it a day or two and it will likely get scanned at another location and it will be updated. It is not real time.
pisspauvre
@poshinistajen thank you!! I’m glad there are ways to speak to other posters. I’m very new and have so many questions and I don’t know a single Poshmark seller to ask. ❤️
poshinistajen
@pisspauvre My pleasure to help! Feel free to post any questions here (or read through other people's questions on my posts). Or you can reach out via Instagram if you need more private help! I have several people that I mentor via text, Facebook and Instagram.
ibethram
im sorry, just to be 110% sure, we can use medium flat rate boxes or no?
poshinistajen
@ibethram Yes you can use flat rate boxes. Just be prepared to show the Postal workers the instructions on how to ring it up (small print on bottom of label) and if they still give you any trouble show them the attached letter in this post. We seem to have to educate the postal employees on how this works since they aren't doing a good job of it.
ibethram
@poshinistajen yes! this is the second time this happens to me and only at this post office. the other ones i have gone to have not given me this much trouble. thank you so much! :)
bailey3071
So can we use flat rate boxes? Or will they stop us
poshinistajen
@bailey3071 Yes you can use Flat Rate boxes. Just be prepared to educate them. See post above.
poshinistajen
@joyfullj You can use the Priority Mail envelopes as long as they are not Express. Honestly, I prefer boxes as the envelopes are not recyclable and they take a long time to degrade. People are more likely to recycle cardboard and if they don't it does degrade. Also cardboard boxes protect the garments better. The envelopes get smashed and folded up in mailbox wrinkling the items inside.
poshinistajen
@joyfullj Yes you can use any flat rate box. Poshmark negotiated a deal with USPS for us to use those boxes in addition to the regular Priority Mail boxes. If they give you any grief show them the instructions on the bottom of the label on how to ring up. If that doesn't work show them the letter on this post. Congratulations on your sales!!
franna_finds
Is this actually free?
poshinistajen
@franna_finds The Priority Mail boxes are free. You can order them online for free or pick them up at your local post office!
franna_finds
@poshinistajen Thank you. I did get my boxes for free there recently. Is the document free that you provided here, explaining the agreement that Poshmark has with the postal service about accepting these boxes?
poshinistajen
@franna_finds Yes feel free to use it if you need to with your local post office! Sometimes they don't know what we can use or how to ring it in.
franna_finds
@poshinistajen Ok great. Thank you!
colorado_glitz
glad I found this- thank you! so question- is the label good on a medium priority box as well as a small? cause my understanding is a medium box costs more at the counter(at least the flat rate...) i have an online biz so know all the costs by heart. am shipping a pair of shoes and printed label but wanted to know if I could use a med. box- thanks!
poshinistajen
@laurenblythe66 You can use any Priority Mail box. Flat rate or regular. As long as it doesn't say Express.
colorado_glitz
@poshinistajen thank you- even with the cost difference on different sizes? that label will cover it?
poshinistajen
@laurenblythe66 Yes. As long as it is not over 5 pounds. Poshmark negotiated a rate with USPS and originally we could only use regular Priority Mail Boxes. In late 2017 they negotiated to also use Flat Rate boxes giving us a wider range of options.
mbeache
@poshinistajen Does this go for the priority mail shoe boxes as well? I can’t remember where, but I had read somewhere that we couldn’t have a box >12”. I’m really hoping I am remembering this wrong because I am planning to ship out a pair of shoes in the priority mail shoe box tomorrow! 🤞
poshinistajen
@mbeache Priority Mail shoe boxes are totally acceptable! Great job on your sale!
yogilisa
My Post Office just sent a large rate Box back and argued with me. So angry!!
poshinistajen
@lisarah Oh no! That is horrible! I would recommend contacting your Postmaster General to report this problem.
yogilisa
@poshinistajen thanks! I'll do that!
kerryxokerry
@poshinistajen I was just wondering what type of box should I use to ship a push-up bralette? I was thinking the 1097 but I’m not sure if that would be too big or not. Sorry if this seems random.
floreds
Thank you for your post! I had problems with medium flat rate boxes at my post office. Only one lady never takes my package. I try to show her today the letter and she refuse to see it saying that I the label doesn’t match.
It’s frustrating!!!
franna_finds
@poshinistajen I sold a heavy suit. It weighs 6.2lbs in box w packaging. It doesn't fit in any priority mail boxes. Its a thick 3 piece suit. What should I send it in? Will the post office give me issues if I send it in a plain box?
poshinistajen
@kerryxokerry Hi there! Sorry for the delay. I'm currently touring Scotland. I would say 1097 will work! It will give you plenty of room and protection if it is padded. May be a little big but you can always stuff with tissue paper or reuse packing materials like those plastic air filled bags. Congratulations on your sale!
poshinistajen
@franna_finds Hi there! Sorry for the delay. I'm currently touring Scotland. You can definitely use a regular brown box if it wont fit. But you do need to upgrade the label via the Poshmark app to pay for the extra weight over 5 pounds. Congratulations on your sale!
poshinistajen
@floreds I would recommend contacting your postmaster general and filing a complaint and/or calling the woman on the letter that is listed as a contact. The USPS people need to read and educate themselves on this! Sometimes we have to be a little more forceful to get them to honor the Poshmark-USPS agreement. Good luck!
franna_finds
@poshinistajen OHH! Thank you! Wow! How exciting! Enjoy! Thank you so much! How do you upgrade the label for the weight? Thank you !
kerryxokerry
@poshinistajen Thank you so much!!! Have fun in Scotland!!! ☺️
floreds
@poshinistajen thank you!!
poshinistajen
@franna_finds Sorry for the delay! Been without wifi! You go into your sales, click the link at the bottom about problems and then upgrade the label. They show you the different costs for overages there. It gets pricey but is worth it.
poshinistajen
@kerryxokerry Thank you so much!
poshinistajen
@floreds My pleasure!
franna_finds
@poshinistajen Thank you!!!

@neetos1, here is some USPS information you may find useful.

Thanks for the great visual!!! Much appreciated!
eunicekchtitos
Hello! I just made my first sale and I used a plain white padded envelope :( am I going to have trouble sending my package??
poshinistajen
@eunicekchtitos Nope. Should be just fine. You can always use your own packaging. But it is just easier and cheaper to use the FREE supplies provided by USPS.
ostrichhouse
Thank you. Just made my first sale tonight! 🎉
poshinistajen
@roxrye Congratulations! That is exciting! Let me know if you have any questions!! 😉🎉🎈🍾

danabiehl
Hi, I was just wondering, beginning too. If the shipping price is the same, does it mean it's the same for medium flat rate box or large? Prices are different on usps website. What it I want to send out a purse? Or pair of high heels shoes? Which boxes are right for that?
poshinistajen
@danabiehl You may want to read through the Poshmark instructions for shipping. It explains it all. Essentially you can send up to 5 pounds in any Priority Mail or Priority Mail Flate rate box with a Poshmark label. (Express boxes not allowed.) You can also use any other box you may already have if the item is too big. If it's over 5 pounds you have to pay extra for a new label with extra weight. Hope that helps!
poshinistajen
@danabiehl As far as specific boxes to order, the shoe box is great for shoes. The 12 x 12 box is good for purses or some of the flatter boxes also work. Its important to look at the dimensions to know if something will fit.
danabiehl
So, all these boxes that are listed here, can be shipped for low expedited cost, if it's not over 5 lbs?
poshinistajen
@danabiehl All of these boxes can be used with a Poshmark label that has a negotiated rate that includes up to 5 pounds. As a seller you don't pay for shipping. The buyer does. And that is the label you need to use.
poshinistajen
@danabiehl Poshmark sends you the label via email when your item sells. You print it and attach it to the box. The items you have for sale currently don't look like they will weigh over 5 pounds. I'd recommend going to your local post office to get a few boxes or order them online for free. 1095, 1092 and 1097 are my favorites I use the most.
kikitoo600
Is there a downloadable or printable copy of the letter from USPS to their postmasters? I live in a smallish town and I already had a postal clerk mention that I couldn't use the flat rate boxes.
In the future I can order but Id like to cover all the bases.
poshinistajen
@kikitoo600 I don't have a better copy of it as I pulled this off one of the Facebook groups to post. They should have received it at every single post office nationwide. You could reference the bulletin number or contact the lady on the letter to get some assistance. She can set the local post offices straight.
kikitoo600
@poshinistajen Thanks so much for your reply & help. It’s very much appreciated.
hollylynsimons
Thank you so much for this! I was given a hard time today but I don't know if I made a mistake or was actually in the wrong. I appreciate this! Thank you!
poshinistajen
@hollylynsimons My pleasure to help! Chances are you were using the right box and the PO workers just didn't know the rules changed. As long as it was Priority Mail regular or Flat Rate and under 5 pounds you are good!
gr8fulgrl
Well here's a stupid question.....I may have missed this looking through the comments, but what's the best way to ship shoes that have the box? I just made my very first sale and of course it's one I'm not sure how to ship! lol
poshinistajen
@gr8fulgrl There is a Priority Mail shoe box but I have found that it is too small to fit a lot of shoe boxes. So your best bet may be to reuse a box you already have on hand or ask your buyer if they really want the original box with the shoes.
gr8fulgrl
@poshinistajen good idea. Thank you!!
denim_and_blues
Hi I’m curious about the flat rate game board box, you graphics say no that one can’t be shipped, but you say flat rate boxes are ok? I can’t figure out what I’m missing here? I have some pictures to ship out and I have them In this box. They are long so I don’t know what I’m going to do if I can’t ship in those boxes:/
poshinistajen
@denim_and_blues Flat Rate game boxes now work. Previously they did not. HOWEVER you may get a hard time from your PO if they think the old rules still apply.
denim_and_blues
@poshinistajen ok that’s frustrating! Thanks for replying!
poshinistajen
@denim_and_blues My pleasure! I personally don't use Flat Rate unless I absolutely have no other choice. It's just a pain to have to argue with the postal workers.
denim_and_blues
@poshinistajen I’m going to try and make a box on top of that box I think! Lol
thriftygirl2415
Thank you for this letter. I received a harsh warning from post office today about the flat rate box I have been using for 7 months now one guy wanted to harass me today and made me change the boxes because it was flat rate. I will show him this Tomorrow.
poshinistajen
@thriftygirl2415 You go girl! Seriously if they are being that crappy about it you should call the lady on the letter and report you local PO for being crappy to you!!!!

@cmn1908 absolutely. Anytime. Sharing is caring.
wackigirl
Hi, I sold a bundle and I have to put it in a big USPS priority box, the one that is 12x12x8, does it need more postage?
wackigirl
Hi, I used a Priority USPS large box to mail for a purchase, the size is 12x12x8 , does it need more postage? and if so how i go about it and who pays for it? thanks
poshinistajen
@wackigirl Sorry for the delay in responding. I haven't been getting notifications. You will need to weigh it and if it is over 5 lbs you will need to upgrade the label in the app. This cost is covered by the seller. Hope that helps!
nomadicsllc
thank you !
drbabyhandz
@poshinistajen hi there, I’m a buyer and received an expensive nwt purse folded up into a priority envelope and now there’s a huge dent in the hard leather. My question is does Poshmark have regulations on purchase dimensions? The purse was under 5 pounds but was larger in size and should have been in a box. There was no bubble wrap or any protection either. I’m pretty upset because I’m a student and this was my after exam splurge :( let me know if you have any insight as I’m super new to posh.
poshinistajen
@drbabyhandz If the purchase was not wrapped and protected by the shipping material and the item became damaged, that is on the seller. You have 3 days to open a claim with Poshmark. Do not accept the order as received. Go to Order/problems and report it as damaged. You will need to take photos of the damage. Posh will review the case and decide if you get a refund.
drbabyhandz
@poshinistajen thanks for the info, it was not wrapped or protected sadly. I was really looking forward to this purse.
poshinistajen
@drbabyhandz If it is not repairable I think opening a case and potentially returning it to the seller (after Poshmark gives you the go ahead) is likely your best option. Sometimes they offer a partial refund and other times just a full return. You can always find the same item from another seller and repurchase.
aysunkilic
@poshinistajen hi there, can I send an order with the priority mail “domestics and international use” or just domestic one? That don’t have big enough box for only domestic use? Thank you 🙏🏻
poshinistajen
@aysunkilic I believe you can use the domestic and international boxes. Can you send me the number on it and I will look it up online? It should have 4 digits. As long as it doesn't say Priority Mail Express you should be good. You can also reuse any box you have laying around!
drbabyhandz
@poshinistajen ok thanks for the info! I didn’t realize posh did partial refunds, hopefully it works out for the both of us. I didn’t want to give her any official star rating yet and deter anyone from purchasing from her. She seems nice, just a careless mistake I’m hoping.
aysunkilic
@poshinistajen hi there, thank you replying. I visited all the post office in my neighborhood and could not find the big one. The previous one I tried to sent was regional box and the lady at the office told me she could not give a receipt. Today I just tried to figure out it with the regular one. Hope my bag will be shipped without any demage 🙏🏻😔 thank you , you are the nicest person ever🙏🏻🌺
poshinistajen
@aysunkilic I'm happy to help! Congratulations on your sale! Feel free to ping me if you need any other help!
beforeandagain
Hi!
Great info! I’m wondering about shipping shoes. Would you mind sharing which box is best for that?
Thank you much!!
poshinistajen
@beforeandagain There is a specific shoe box and the code for that is OSHOEBOX I believe if you want to search for it online. Note that not all shoe boxes will fit in there. Like Nike wide boxes, boots etc. You will need larger boxes for those. In those cases I usually reuse a box I already have from Amazon. Or ask buyer if it is okay to ship without the original box.
beforeandagain
Oh, I forgot. Is there somewhere I can find this letter to print?
Thanks!
poshinistajen
@beforeandagain It is on some of the Facebook groups in a higher quality format but you should just be able to show this post and zoom in on the text for them to read if they give you any hassle...
beforeandagain
@poshinistajen You’ve been a gem, and I really appreciate it!
poshinistajen
@beforeandagain My pleasure! Always happy to help!
apainteddaisy
Just was at the post office today! I had several boxes packed up. The lady at the counter said no, I could NOT use the flat rate boxes. I had to go in lobby repackage what I could, most of the size priority boxes I needed were only available online. I went back up to the counter and I didn't have the label taped since I changes boxes, she said the post office does NOT tape labels either and didn't provide tape for everyone to use. I wish I had known about the letter before I went today!
poshinistajen
@kbird7 You can ship in anything you want really. I wouldn't go out and buy packaging though unless you really need to. You can order envelopes and boxes for free online from USPS. Just stay away from the Priority Mail Express boxes and envelopes as those do not work for Poshmark labels.
casualwhimsy
THANK YOU!! I just dealt with this and was at a lose being new to selling. I have been getting advice from a Posh FB group which helped a lot but this too will help so many people.

cedrlcka
Hey! Do you know if the shoe box offered on the USPS website is flat rate? I'm seeing a lot of folks having trouble with those, so I want to make sure not to use that one to send out shoes!
poshinistajen
@cedrlcka The shoe box is not flat rate. You shouldn't have any problems with it. If you like this listing to bookmark it, you can show the letter above to the PO worker if they give you any grief over using flat rate. They are supposed to work but previously they didn't so we need to work to educate the PO employees. Good luck!
cedrlcka
@poshinistajen Awesome! Thanks! Just to be sure, I can just drop it off at a USPS box, right? All I have to do is package the item, tape the label on, and I'm good to go?
poshinistajen
@cedrlcka Correct! You can put in a drop box if big enough for hour box (not all POs have drop boxes for packages) , or take it to the counter during business hours, or schedule a pickup on USPS.com or have your carrier take it. My carrier prefers I put a note in my mailbox that there is a package on the porch for pickup. Also I mail mine at a local grocery store PO station sometimes. Lots of options!
unclaimedgoods
Thank you! This is so helpful! I just sold my first item and shipped it today in a small priority box. I asked my husband to drop it off and he said he had issues because, something about being a 'commercial label.' I just hope I don't have any issues! ::crosses fingers::
mlozi
@poshinistajen help! I like the size of the Regional A Box - it’s 11.875 x 3.375 x 13.625
Can I use it for any order or only orders within my state? Midwest? I dunno. How do I get more info? You seem so well informed I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask. 😁😊
poshinistajen
@unclaimedgoods You should be just fine! You can use any box you already have or any Priority Mail or Priority Mail Flat Rate box. As long as it doesn't say Priority Mail Express.
poshinistajen
@mlozi Sorry for the delay! I am in Europe right now om vacation! Yes you can use the Regional rate boxes with no problem! I hope that helps! you can pretty much use any Priority Mail or Priority Mail Flat Rate box as long as it doesn't say "Express" on it. Good luck!
mlozi
@poshinistajen you are so kind! Thank you so much. Enjoy Europe! 💕🦄
presellaross
Hello, I have around three pairs of tall boots and one pair of combat boots to mail off. Which box would you recommend sending this bundle in? I’m sure I’ll have to pay an additional fee because I think it’s over 5lbs.
jd128919
Thank you SO much for this! I was overwhelmed trying to figure out what to get!!
poshinistajen
@presellaross That is a tough one! getting one pair of tall boots to fit is difficult with any of these boxes. I have always had to use my own box. Depends on size of boots and if the tops fold over the 12 × 12 x 6 box or Board game box. I have seen sellers all tape together boxes to make it work! Good luck!
poshinistajen
@jd128919 So happy to help!
presellaross
@poshinistajen Thanks so much for your help! ❤️

@poshinistajen thank you for this! SUPER helpful!!
chicktreasures
I am shipping a large hard purse that cannot be rolled up. It will not fit in the large USPS box. Am I able to use a larger plain cardboard box? And if so, will I need to pay for additional postage when shipping? Thanks so much
poshinistajen
@sandiekayes You can use any box you already have. If it is over 5 pounds you will need to upgrade the label and pay extra. (Get a kitchen scale to weigh) The box would have to be pretty big to be over the max dimensions for Priority Mail. You may want to check the web site for that max. You will have to measure your box or the postal workers will when you drop it off.
angelabebe
I just shipped an item under 5 pounds using a Priority Mail medium box. The postal worker at the desk told me I should not be shipping any Poshmark item in their Priority Mail boxes. She says I have to use my own box. This is in contradiction to Poshmark's shipping guidelines. Please advise.
soappups
@sandiekayes i think you can as long as it doesn't weigh more than 5lbs.
poshinistajen
@angelabebe Obviously the postal clerk is wrong and has bad information. We have ALWAYS been able to use Priority Mail boxes and starting late 2017 we were able to use Priority Mail Flat Rate. The only ones we cannot use are Express boxes. Ask to speak to the manager or postmaster general. Or even better, file a complaint online. That usually gets their attention and fixes the situation.
angelabebe
@poshinistajen Thank you for the advice. I have emailed Poshmark and I believe they will contact my post office. I will continue to use Priority Mail boxes. I will speak to the manager at my post office if I encounter another issue.
likeditboughtit
Oh my Lord YOU are a God sent! Thank you, thank you so much for this info. I read every comment until my eyes became blurred at January of this year. 😆 I did not see the Shoebox (oshoebox) 7.5, 5 1/8, 14 3/8. Would this be ok to ship also?
poshinistajen
@likeditboughtit Yes the shoe box is fine! You can use any Priority Mail box regular or Flat Rate as long as it does not say Express on it! Good luck with sales!
likeditboughtit
@poshinistajen YOU are awesome thank you again!
preppypinkgreen
what size priority mail box to use for tall boots and their original box?
epedrick
How do I print this out? When I hover over the letter and click save image as, that doesn't work to capture the whole letter. Thanks
poshinistajen
@epedrick See if you can download or join one of the Facebook groups and search for this same letter in higher quality. You literally shouldn't have to print it out. just blow it up on your phone and show the postal worker if you have a problem.
skeleteena
Just want to say thanks for all this; I've got a batch of clothes I was planning to list but finding out what packaging was ok was really difficult! (I normally use flat rate padded for auctions, etc but couldn't find out if it would work with Posh's labels.) After reading through this, you have just saved me from trying to use ANY flat rate packaging! Thanks!
poshinistajen
@skeleteena You can use Flat Rate but may have to educate your post office. I choose not to use it unless I have to. good luck on your sales!
skeleteena
@poshinistajen thanks! I know my post office and I am sure I would have had problems, so I will definitely be avoiding. Thanks again!
soappups
@winfieldq This helped me A LOT, i ordered from usps, they send them to you and it costs nothing
the_findery
can I use a flat rate box if I scribble out the verbiage? or maybe I should add wrapping paper? flat rate boxes are all I have right now
poshinistajen
@ekelsey314 Flat rate boxes are allowed. You may just have to educate your postal employee if they give you a hard time. No need to scribble anything out. Just refer them to the verbiage on the bottom of the label or the letter on this post.
the_findery
@poshinistajen I didn't get a chance to talk with the postal worker. I just dropped the box off. fingers crossed!
poshinistajen
@ekelsey314 You'll be fine! it is the Postal Workers who are the ones who don't know they are acceptable and will sometimes cause problems. You should have no issues leaving it in a drop box.
the_findery
@poshinistajen ok ty!
drreamscometrue
Can someone please help me I just sold a Tory Burch Taylor tote and I don’t think it will fit in any of those boxes as it’s quite large. What should I do?
poshinistajen
@drreamscometrue You don't have to use a Priority Mail box if it won't fit, you can use any box you already have.
robin2son
I now have 3 Post Offices who have rejected my flat rate medium boxes, after shipping in these for 6 months. Even after this last office when I pulled the letter out...the employees (2) refused to read it. Said they have been having packages coming back from the distribution center as improper package usage. They won't give me a receipt but I can take a chance and just drop the package off in the drop off box. The risk will be returned or buyer gets funds due on the other end so they told me.
poshinistajen
@robin2son They are absolutely wrong. I suggest reaching out to the woman listed on the letter and give her the info on the post offices you have been having problems with. Flat rate boxes have been acceptable for years now. The PO employees need to be educated and stop acting like we are scamming the system. Sorry you have to deal with that!
mebqueen
I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere so I’ll try asking. My seller accidentally used an express box and the post office wants me to pay $32. Would it be easiest for me to refuse the package and have it sent back to the seller so they can send it in the right box? I really feel like it was a simple mistake but I’m still new to Poshmark so I’m not sure what to do! Thank you!
poshinistajen
@mebqueen Exactly! You will need to refuse shipment if it came in an Express box. Poshmark will not reimburse either of you for paying the PO when it was the seller's mistake. The seller will need to contact Poshmark Support to get directions/a new label. It may take a while but should be easily resolved. Seller will likely get a slap on the wrist and be told to read the protocol for shipping.
catherine101319
This was super helpful - appreciate you helping out the community:)
poshinistajen
@catherine101319 My pleasure! I hate seeing people have bad experiences with Poshmark or the Post Office. My dad retired from the post office after 35 years of service.
catherine101319
@poshinistajen wow! No wonder that you’re such a expert :) I seriously wrote down the box numbers in the picture to make sure that I order the ones least likely to give me trouble since some post offices might not have read the letter yet
l2k3379
Does this still apply for this year??
poshinistajen
@l2k3379 Yes, you can use regular or flat rate Priority Mail boxes but some people are still having problems using the flat rate. Please read comments above.
l2k3379
Does poshmark do under a pound the Poly mailer bags??
Is the 1097 box used for orders over 1lbs?
poshinistajen
@l2k3379 Please read the FAQs/community support links. You can ship up to 5 pounds in any Priority Mail packaging as long as it is not Express.
stylenu
Thank you for posting this USPS letter. I just called the number and complained. I was harassed and humiliated by a postal clerk that would not accept my flat rate packages. I spoke to her manager that agreed with the clerk and they refused to accept my packages. They said I had to repackage in Priority Mail boxes. I was a 1/2 hour from home.
stylenu
They ripped open my packages and repacked them in Priority Packages. Then didn’t even scan them in but threw them aside. It was horrific. I take care in how I package and don’t even know how these packages look.
stylenu
I told the USPS gentleman I reported this too and he apologized and said they were absolutely in the wrong. I gave him the manager and clerks name and asked him to call and straighten them out so this does not happen to another Posher at that Post office again.
I typically use Priority boxes but due to the short supply at the holidays was unable. I will have this letter in hand the next time I may have to use a flat rate box
Sorry for ranting. Thanks a million for this post!
poshinistajen
@stylenu Oh my goodness! That is horrible! Can they not read the freaking label? It clearly says we can use Flat Rate. I am glad you reported them, they need to be reprimanded. I would also recommend going to: http://usps
force.com/emailus/s/ and reporting the Post Office Clerk and Manager via email. They pay attention to these reports!
poshinistajen
@stylenu http://usps.force.com/emailus/s/
poshinistajen
@stylenu Thank you for calling and reporting it! We need more sellers to fo the same so the harassment of Poshmark sellers will stop. I really try not to use flat rate because of this continued issue!
stylenu
@poshinistajen It was humiliating and no matter how many times I pointed the label out to them, they both point blank said it was wrong!
Thank you again and for the link. I will report there too. I don’t want another Posher humiliated like that.
PS Beautiful closet ❤️
poshinistajen
@stylenu Thank you for reporting it there too. Those reports go against their customer service metrics I believe so it will hit them where it hurts. There is no reason for their nastiness. Thank you so much for the shares! I appreciate it!!
bobabunny978
Can I use a padded priority mail envelope?
poshinistajen
@bobabunny978 Yes. As long as it does not say priority mail express!
bobabunny978
@poshinistajen it has Priority Mail® Flat Rate Envelope ( padded ) that’s okay for a small wallet?
poshinistajen
@bobabunny978 Yes that is no problem! If they give you any hassle.show them the verbiage on the bottom of the label or the letter on this listing.

@robin2son My post office clerk repeatedly tells me the same thing, and said my Poshmark account will be flagged and shut down if I use “improper packaging” 3x.
robin2son
@poshinistajen I recently tried emailing her. The email keeps getting sent back to me. I either am not getting the correct address...spacing, underscore or that email isn't a working email.
poshinistajen
@over60fab Yes. As long as it doesn't say Priority Mail Express.
poshinistajen
@lizad03 What packaging are you using that she says is "improper"?
lizad03
@poshinistajen priority flat rate. That the letter/email/postage slip all says is allowed 🙄
poshinistajen
@lizad03 Wow, that is crazy. I would recommend submitting a complaint online.
poshinistajen
@robin2son The email address is correct but the person has changed. Would you like the new contact person and email?
robin2son
@poshinistajen yes please. I would like something done about these harassing counter clerks. I shouldn't have to be going through this. Even Poshmark CS isn't responding.
soappups
@melixd2011 This! 'like' it so you have it and also, i printed out the letter in here and gave it to the post office , they hung it up so they know and anyone else that doesn't will SEE it and accept all boxes
wild__lavender
@poshinistajen hi, can you please send the link of the usps page I can order the boxes with the numbers referred in your pictures? I looked up on usps site but can’t seem to find the box numbers. Thanks so much!!!
wild__lavender
No worries! I found the link!
bohoandbling
@poshinistajen can we use a flat rate box for 5 or jeans and pay the difference up to the flat rate price as opposed to paying the more expensive posh upgraded label?
poshinistajen
@bohoandbling You can try to package it up in a regular Priority Mail box and take to the post office and ask if they will do that. Some have in the past but depends greatly on your local PO. They may say no. If you do flat rate they will likely charge you the entire cost to mail flat rate. So it is usually much safer to upgrade the label through Poshmark even though it seems expensive.
poshinistajen
@bohoandbling If you do anything that causes a new tracking number to be generated outside of Poshmark it is your own liability if the buyer never accepts their package. You could lose both your product AND your cost to ship it. It's highly risky and you wouldn't be covered under Poshmark's policy. So I would just recommend upgrading the label and saving yourself time, energy and stress.
poshinistajen
@bohoandbling You get up to 5 pounds for any Poshmark shipment. If you sell large bundles over 5 pounds it is a good idea to charge more to cover your out of pocket shipment costs. Or break the transaction into 2 bundles and have the buyer pay shipping twice.
j_style30
@poshinistajen are priority mail Regional Rate Box A acceptable boxes to use?
poshinistajen
@jeckerle Yes those work!
72browneyedgirl
This happened to me last week. The postal worker actually made me stand there and repack into a different box. I was so frustrated.

Hello all! Wondering if anyone knows how to send "Over the knee Galdiator boot heels" ? They are to stiff to fold without damaging the boots. I still have the original show box the boots came in as well. Thanks for your help!
poshinistajen
@mrsjeans I am so sorry this happened. I'm guessing you were using flat rate? Did you explain to them that it is allowed? I'd seriously report them for not following the rules.
poshinistajen
@lekaushia I'm not sure you will find a Priority Mail box that large. Your best bet is to find a box around the house that will work. That is normally what I do for boots and shoe boxes that are large.
lekaushia
@poshinistajen okay thank you!
72browneyedgirl
@poshinistajen I tried to explain and he kept insisting. I guess next time I'll show them the small print on the label.
ezzy56
Yo in need of service. Um is it ok to use a large mailing box for domestic and international use. I'm sending 2 big light book bags, purse bags. also looks like i need to change my boxes. flat rate medium has worked out. my usps knows it's fine. I've even received with those in dif. sizes. but I'll get the ones in the picture to be safe. but is the large mailing box for domestic and international ok?
ezzy56
Please forgot to put please.
poshinistajen
@ezzy5679 Yes those that say International or Domestic Priority Mail are fine to use. All Flat Rate are okay too. Just make sure it doesn't say Priority Mail Express. Glad your post office knows what is acceptable! Many do not. Congrats on the sales!
ezzy56
@poshinistajen Ah thankyou. ok, got it.
ezzy56
@poshinistajen Funny thing I searched poshmark is it ok to use this box? Your listing showed up.
poshinistajen
@ezzy5679 Yes I optimized this listing for keyword searches because Poshmark has not put this information in an easily accessible location yet. Even after I asked them to at Poshfest 2019. So many new people are absolutely confused on what to use to send their sales....
ezzy56
@poshinistajen Ah that's nice. I figured it out but what this box said got me🤣
deserteagle7479
@poshinistajen I have a question about boxes. I had a pair of boots new in the box so obviously the priority boxes were too small. So, I went in to the PO and was gonna ship in a 16x17x17 box which is all they had that would work. The postal worker argued and would not accept it because they wanted to charge me $36 plus the box.CONTINUING BELOW
deserteagle7479
@poshinistajen I knew I had to purchase the box but I didn’t think that size of box would matter as long as it was under 5lbs which it was like 4lb 6oz. Instead of just scanning it in she weighed it and put in the zip then measured it. Please help!
poshinistajen
@deserteagle7479 I believe you are correct. You had the Poshmark label to affix it right? You purchased a plain box right? And if it was 16x16x17 you should be under the 108" maximum. As long as it was under 5 pounds you should have only had to pay for the box. I recommend sending a copy of your receipt to Poshmark Support as well as going on USPS web site to report the issue. They should be giving you a refund.
deserteagle7479
@poshinistajen yes plain brown box with pre-printed posh label and they ended up making me wrap the actual boot box in brown paper and mail it that way- which I wasn’t very happy about because the box could get damaged.
poshinistajen
@deserteagle7479 Also I would recommend not purchasing boxes at the Post Office. (order a variety of free boxes online) For large items Try to use ones you have around the house or go to a UPS store to find one that more accurately fits the item you are shipping. It sounds like maybe the postal clerk was struggling with the math and also didn't understand the pre-paid label.
deserteagle7479
@poshinistajen also, the whole flat rate thing has been an issue for me also. I don’t understand why something isn’t done about this from a corporate stand point or else they cancel the contract with USPS and contract with a different carrier.
poshinistajen
@deserteagle7479 That is unfortunate. The buyer probably won't be thrilled but at least it wasn't $36 right? I don't ever assume the PO will have a good selection of boxes so I always save my Amazon and Butcher Box boxes for these large items...
deserteagle7479
@poshinistajen I save mine too but the two I had were too heavy and made it over 5lbs. It’s just crazy to me the lack of communication and training on this issue to begin with.
poshinistajen
@deserteagle7479 USPS doesn't know there is a problem unless we report it. If you are having problems with using Flat Rate boxes you should DEFINITELY REPORT IT. The person to contact is: tamera.l.dryden@usps.gov
deserteagle7479
@poshinistajen ok thank you I will report it right now
poshinistajen
@liiniscloset Oh my goodness! I am so sorry! That sounds horrible. There is an email address two comments up for Tamera Dryden. I would suggest you email her AND go on the USPS web site and report the individual worker so she will be reprimanded.
joycehall2
Thank you
jonnycash1776
Yeah they wouldn’t accept my package in a medium flat rate box and made me switch to another priority mail packing box
poshinistajen
@jonnycash1776 Did you show them the small print on the label that says we can use flat rate boxes?
jonnycash1776
@poshinistajen no I didn’t see that either
annabelsbelongs
thank you for this!! so helpful!!
poshinistajen
@annabelsbelongs My pleasure! Happy to help!
siama18
Every time I’ve received a flatrate box for an item I’ve bought I’ve had to pay $12-$20 extra postage!! I don’t get why I have to pay extra when I already paid for my shipping on poshmark! Please help me!
poshinistajen
@siama18 You should never pay postage if a Poshmark package comes “postage due”. I would refuse shipment and educate your local PO that flat rate is acceptable for 5 pounds or less. Now if the sellers are sending over 5 pounds that is a definite return to sender scenario. They must pay the extra postage.
poshinistajen
@siama18 I recommend going into each purchase you had to pay and report a problem to Poshmark so they can refund your money you paid. Sounds like there is a problem at your local or regional package facility that is marking them postage due.
siama18
@poshinistajen ok that’s what I thought! It’s so frustrating because I didn’t know what to do, if I sent it back I was afraid that I’d still get charged for what I bought because it was already taken off my card. But yeah so to date I’ve spent $38 in shipping on those two packages! That’s way more than my items even costed! From now on I will definitely just send back, but will I get reimbursed the money they take off my card?
siama18
@poshinistajen Thanku so much for your help!
poshinistajen
@siama18 Yes, if you refuse a shipment and it is sent back to the seller, your order will be refunded eventually (if it was the seller’s fault). The seller will get “dinged” for sending over 5 pounds without an upgraded label OR if it was a post office problem it will likely get rerouted back to you once someone realizes it has the correct postage and in that case you get your items but late.
siama18
@poshinistajen ok, thank u so much for your help, I’m going to go down to my post office in the morning and talk to them! I saved my receipts and boxes with the shipping labels so hopefully somehow someone will refund me the money! Fingers crossed!
poshinistajen
@siama18 If they won't refund you, Poshmark should! Just contact support through the app.
silksnlinens
@poshinistajen hi! Would you be able to help me with a question? Someone at the post office told me I couldn’t take multiple packages at the same time to get scanned at once and I needed a shipping sheet for all the packages? She said her manager told her that so I asked to speak to her manager to asked what sheet this was and she said she wasn’t going to go look for her manager. Any idea what she was referring to?
poshinistajen
@karina1007 Hi there. Yes for eBay and other online platforms I believe they have a ship sheet that contains a barcode they can easily scan. You just need to tell them that Poshmark does not have ship sheets and you need each package scanned and a receipt provided to show proof of shipment. Sometimes during busy times they ask people to set packages in a designated area to be scanned later.
poshinistajen
@karina1007 If they continue to hassle you, get their names and report them on the USPS.com web site. Those complaints are taken pretty seriously when they come in.
kelseyraupers
hey there! had a quick question... I have to send out a beanie hat to a buyer and all i have on hand are flat rate bubble mailers (evelopes) and flat rate boxes.. am i able to stick the hat in a bubble mailer and put it in a drop off box?
silksnlinens
@poshinistajen you are so nice for taking time to reply I APPRECIATE YOU! 💜
poshinistajen
@kelseyraupers Yes you can use bubble mailers or boxes. Your own or Priority Mail as long as it doesn't say Priority Mail Express on it. Flat rate is acceptable, just some people have problems with them or they get delayed shipping on a rare occasion.
poshinistajen
@karina1007 My pleasure! Happy to help!
kelseyraupers
@poshinistajen okay thanks so much!! I've searched the internet and posts Q&A but no matter where I go theres 50% of people saying no and 50% saying yes haha. so thank you again!!🙃🙃
poshinistajen
@kelseyraupers Yes you can use Flat Rate (I would recommend dropping in a box over going to the counter) Just in case you encounter any issues. (See all the posts above from other Poshers having problems.)
birchwoodroom
@coffeethrift
christyboden
Flat rate still not accepted. They tried to charge me. Had to open it up and repackage everything. Why is this still an issue 3 years later??
poshinistajen
@christyboden Lack of communication at your local PO. You need to report them to get this fixed if you informed them (showed them the label instructions or the letter) See above on how to report. Good luck.
manicavenues
So, today - I went to USPS - and it’s the fact that Poshmark hasn’t changed their label yet - the postman showed me today “this says it can only be this box” that’s why USPS argues - lucky mine got shipped
manicavenues
Look at what the Poshmark label says when you print it out, I went to USPS and they were like “NO”
Cuz Poshmark hasn’t changed what it’s suppose to be yet
poshinistajen
@manicavenues Poshmark has changed their labels several times over the years. The labels don't need to change. The USPS workers need to learn how to read them and read their memos from the USPS Account Manager for Poshmark that has outlined multiple times since late 2017 that we can use flat rate or regular Priority Mail boxes.
manicavenues
@poshinistajen I do agree with that, but there are a lot of new workers and we all need to be patient with eachother - today this guy didn’t know what to do and I didn’t wanna argue because was new - it’s all new for all of us
poshinistajen
@manicavenues Unfortunately sometimes we have to educate them on their own policies. It is unfortunate, but at least you didn't get one of the nasty ones who makes Poshmark sellers cry. (see above)
manicavenues
@poshinistajen it was a really mixed guy today, and he wasn’t even suppose to be working but the line was long and he let me cut cuz it was a drop off and he’s just like “this Poshmark label does not allow me to take this box” but then he was like “let’s see what happens”
Lmao which was a risk made me nervous but it’s tracking
prtyofv
@sammiprincess here is a letter you can take to the post office to show that the box I used is allowed. Make sure you talk to the postmaster
soy_sweet99
Omg for the first time this happened to me today at the post office. I had to pay a difference of $8.09 and I’m so upset. They are saying that we. Any use the flat rate boxes at all
poshinistajen
@soy_sweet99 Open a case with Poshmark support and send a copy of your receipt. They may be able to get your money back.
soy_sweet99
@poshinistajen okay. I just did that. Thank you!
soy_sweet99
@manicavenues yes they showed me too at the post office and I had to pay the difference. The day before the lady still did it for me. The manager tried to say that we can’t use flat rate boxes at all and have to pay the difference.
