Well in athletic shoes I usually wear nikes and I wear 9-9.5 in those. 8.5-9 in other athletic shoes. 8-8.5 in women's dress shoes. So "true to size" doesn't mean much when shoes vary from brand to brand. I either have to try them on, or need them measured.
