Missing my friend Lauren, who passed away last month after a long & hard fought 4 year battle with cancer. She had just gotten married before finding out her shocking diagnosis & had the world ahead of her🌎 We shared a decade of friendship I cherish, we met at my first job out of college on the bank trading floor & became inseparable. I am by profession a therapist. So seriously day or night. I'm here. I have experienced losses that seemed unreal. My best friend was shot by a cop in 2008. I don't know what's worse although watching someone suffer is hell. I'm not going to lie it has taken me a long time to accept. The stages of grief are fluid so you will cycle through them...

More than once. When someone suffers pain for so long its hard to process bc you want that suffering to end but losing them seems unbearable. She is no longer in pain. She has been freed of it thankfully but the family and friends no matter how "prepared" you may feel realize that theres no preparing...

@11thstreet it's simply tragic. It's unacceptable that we don't have a cure. Young healthy people get more aggressive cancer. It makes no sense and no one isn't affected by it. But when its at such an age its just another level. You expect that person to be there...

We never imagine life without them bc our youth should guarantee it. So that diagnosis must have been just unbelievable. It takes such strength and grace to just deal with life after that. You had that vacation and it was a gift you can now use to remember pre-cancer life. You have photos of that time to help you. Not for a while but eventually you will be able to look at them...

I'm so sad to hear this, it's a tragedy for someone to leave far too early & far too young. My dad passed away at only 48 and I was 10 from cancer. My thoughts & prayers go out to you, her parents & her husband. I'm sure she's walking every step w/ you & wants you to know she's free from pain. I hope you feel her & are reminded of her often in the years to come & that you stay close to her husband & family.
