jacqueray Has a collar you can detach? Hmmm. My clothing has doubled since we've chatted at length. I'll go through it all soon and pull you out. It needs to be separate. ❤️❤️❤️

jacqueray @anna_redbridge I'm sorry I didn't say that correctly. Mine has a detachable collar but I'll answer that with "no" Not the one I'm thinking about. This wouldn't have that collar.

lyannawolfgirl @anna_redbridge omg I LOVE this. Did you find this pattern or create the pattern yourself? Could I maybe buy it from you??? i would love to make this for my mom. I’m obsessed w crocheting these days... if you don’t wanna share I totally understand.... its gorgeous!
Mar 14Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @lyannawolfgirl Hi !! I create my own patterns, and to be honest each time I make something I change the stitching, yarn, embellishments, so not two items are exactly the same.
Mar 14Reply
lyannawolfgirl
lyannawolfgirl @anna_redbridge this is just incredible tho. Is it one big piece you stitched together or did you do it all in the round???
Mar 14Reply
lyannawolfgirl
lyannawolfgirl Oh wait.... is it a circle with the neck hole stitched nicely for the inside edge? What stitch did you use to get that x lookin stitch?
Mar 14Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @lyannawolfgirl So to make this, you measure the hips and add a few inches to make it a looser fit. You crochet as many chains as half of the measurements...essentially you're creating a rectangle first...when you get to you're desired length (front), you split the crocheting to create the neckline.
Mar 14Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @lyannawolfgirl You can use any stitch, but this is a series of chains and single crochets. Hard to explain. This is a one piece. But you can get the same look if you crochet two large rectangles and than join them at the neckline.
Mar 14Reply
lyannawolfgirl
lyannawolfgirl Sorry... I’m asking all your secrets 😛 I just fell in love! It looks like chain 4s, and then you go around through them in each round. Did you use dc or a tc? IF you don’t mind telling me ;)
Mar 14Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @lyannawolfgirl you can do a circle too. Its 3 chains, one single crochet. Every row you crochet the single crochet in the middle of the 3 chains. You can do more chains if you want larger gaps.
Mar 14Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @lyannawolfgirl The circle will come out a bit different because all sides will be even. By making rectangles to can have different lengths front/back. I hope I haven't confused you! Good luck :)
Mar 14Reply
lyannawolfgirl
lyannawolfgirl @anna_redbridge ohhhh that totally makes sense!!3 chains each, and a sc through each, that’s how it’s such a neat x. About how many sts do you skip to make the head opening? Also is the yarn weight Worsted or chunky? 😊
Mar 14Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @lyannawolfgirl this is an organic soft yarn..medium weight. Not itchy :)
Mar 14Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @lyannawolfgirl you dont have to skip any stitches for head opening. You just need to make sure you're in the middle..continue first one side, then go back to the other side and when you reach the opening you want, connect and continue an one piece until you reach desired length. Once that's done, you can go all around and do a shell stitch, or what ever you like to make it fancier or add fringes.
Mar 14Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @lyannawolfgirl Chuncky yarn will be very heavy. Not great for this item. I tried, and I didn't love it and took it all apart! Lol
Mar 14Reply
lyannawolfgirl
lyannawolfgirl @anna_redbridge hmm. Ok so you go back and forth to you create the rectangle? Then when you get to your desired length in front, and you want to start the neck hole , do you just work your ch3, sc repeats on that last top row until you get to where you want the neckline to start and finish off? And then join at the other end of row and work towards the center and finish off in the same place as the other side, leaving neck hole in middle?
Mar 14Reply
lyannawolfgirl
lyannawolfgirl Then how do you start the next row, starting the back rectangle? Or am I totally off? 😛
Mar 14Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @lyannawolfgirl I think you got it :)
Mar 14Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @lyannawolfgirl Oh and your hats are beautiful...raise your prices a tiny bit...handmade is not the same as purchasing at Target :) Good night :)
Mar 14Reply
lyannawolfgirl
lyannawolfgirl @anna_redbridge really??? Wow! So how do you do that first back row starting down the back? Can you tell me the yarn you used?? I’m imagining in bamboo blend maybe.... did you use a 3 or 4? Sorry, I’m just loving this so much! My mom would ADORE this if I made it for her.
Mar 14Reply
lyannawolfgirl
lyannawolfgirl @anna_redbridge lol nothing like frogging chunky yarn! 😉
Mar 14Reply
lyannawolfgirl
lyannawolfgirl @anna_redbridge never mind, I’ll stop haranguing you and go to ravelry to try to figure out the neck hole 😊 But... Just one more question, for the bigger gaps in the “fringe” how many chains did you use for each gap -5 or 6? And did you add it at the end or make it throughout the work? Thanks so much!
Mar 14Reply
lyannawolfgirl
lyannawolfgirl @anna_redbridge ok thanks I Will! Pls let me know how many chains you used for the border where the gaps are bigger? Thanks! Gnite!
Mar 14Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @lyannawolfgirl Hi. Sorry I fell asleep. The bigger gaps are made with 5 chains, but you too that all around when you're done with rectangle part...so it's at the bottom of the hem, and all around the arm / shoulder area...have a great day.
Mar 14Reply
lyannawolfgirl
lyannawolfgirl @anna_redbridge thank you! You’re awesome!

charlenevano
charlenevano I am desperate to find a pattern for a shawl ,love this look but don't want to have to make 2 sides and join like for a triangular shawl what would you advise I try? I'm a step up from beginner but a short step, lol. I wish you lived close I would love lessons. Again I appreciate the virus blanket answer, you are so kind & talented. How long have you been doing crochet? How did you learn?
Mar 25Reply
charlenevano
charlenevano Hi Anna do you have this pattern written that I could bum or buy from you? I took your advice to look on utube for a long vest made with this rope look. I have it in my lap and i may be able to finish late today or tomorrow. I'm very excited to show you when i get done. But would love to have this as my next project. Hope you and your mom doing well. My 31 yr old daughter Kristin who is married with 4 little ones was diagnosed with crohns dx. I'm very bummed about that. Life ugh
May 08Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @charlenevano Hi, no, I dont have anything written down!! But it's made similar to a poncho. Just do 5 or 6 chains and a single crochet. Keep going around until you achieve the size and length you want. The fringe its 10 chains, 3 single crochet worked in the 10th chain, followed by another 10 chains, and work one single crochet in the "hole" created by the 5 chains, etc...just keep going around.
May 08Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @charlenevano Or you can measurements hips, decide by 2, and crochet as many chains as that measures.
May 08Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @charlenevano Next to a single row of single crochet in each chain. Than for the next row, crochet 5 chains, skip the first single crochet and work a single crochet in the third stitch...crochet another 5 chains, skip tla stitch and crochet a chain in the next stitch...and keep going until the next row. The third row, stitch 5, single crochet in the third chain of bottom row, chain 5, single crochet in the 3rd chain of bottom row and keep going.
May 08Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @charlenevano once you reach half of the desired length, split the panel and only work on one side to create the neck opening, than, work on the other side and join the two sides. Keep repeating the same patter until you have equal rows for front and back.
May 08Reply
anna_redbridge
anna_redbridge @charlenevano once you've done, you should have a rectangle looking poncho....you can than repeat the same stitches or different ones by going around the perimeter of your work. To reinforce the neckline, do a couple of rows of single crochet. This takes lots of time. Best wishes for your daughter health.
