amazingfinds Thanks for the Validation!!! It is rude! At times, I've been tempted to make an insulting Offer on something of theirs - just to show how it feels, but I'm afraid they'd accept and I'd wind up with something so really didn't want!!! It'd be fun to do though, huh? Lol!

Another time this lady made a bunch of lowball offers after I tagged her in this listing for lowballing me so I accepted all of them, lol. She got charged shipping for each one then I waited six days and cancelled, lol

ctlevi
ctlevi The shipping fee sets by Poshmark kills all the deal from buyers as well as sellers. On top of that, Posmark charges 20% fee on all sales. We, sellers have to do so so many extra things from taking pictures, advertising our own clothes, pack and ship our items, drop them off at the post office, Oh Gosh, this thing takes too much of my time and the profit we make is merely anything but low ball sells and offers.

atistango
atistango Love this, and I never thought to tag the rude offers in a separate listing. I try to educate but often am talking to deaf ears. I totally understand we all want a great deal, but let's be fair. I saw what you said about eB, I actually list my items there too, and sell as much or more without LESS hassle. You could change it to Merc, that's just a huge yardsale. And the number of bad poshers is drastically on the rise so be careful. Happy poshing!
Aug 14Reply
moodtherapy
moodtherapy @atistango never sold on merc but I have on EB.... I've made quite a bit selling there but find most buyers 4 my merchandise aren't willing to pay what it's worth. wanted me to sell 2" solid gold earrings for $50! That doesn't even cover the cost of the metal to make them I have had luck selling body jewelry there. Alot of shoppers it's cheap to make so cheap to sell. I put this sign up bc many don't realize my jewelry is handmade. They think I'm reselling stuff I bought from China for pennies
Aug 15Reply
taytayhorn
taytayhorn I'm glad you put this info up. I didn't know you made the Jewelry. The prices are on the low side already. You shouldn't accept any offers, just stick with the bundle discount. The 20% going to corporate is most of your profit. You might try a Shopify store or something similar, 100% of the sales would be yours. If needed u could always go to fiverr and outsource advertising for $5. Jewelry you have listed as Vintage, are they pieces you recreated or vintage and not made by you at all?
Aug 17Reply
moodtherapy
moodtherapy @taytayhorn I actually sell mainly on Amazon, that's how my hubby and I make our living. We do really great there, I mainly sell on Posh to support my shopping habit, lol. Pretty much everything I make, I've spent back on Posh! My hubby doesn't kind bc it keeps it from going out of the bank or on credit cards. I advertise on twitter, I have 75K+ followers there so it helps a lot.
Aug 17Reply
moodtherapy
moodtherapy @taytayhorn the pieces listed as vintage, I did not make but I repurposed them to bring them into beautiful condition. I polish them for over an hour, switching out the burning compound twice and the pieces come out with a beautiful super high mirror like shiny finish. I get most of my VTG from estate sales and auctions. Some are my own personal collection.

moodtherapy @jcrewzie my hubby told me that a lot of times when ppl offer half or less they’re trying to negotiate so I’m trying not to be offended so much and I’ll counter them. gsalvatore
gsalvatore With all due respect, the marketplace sets the price, not us. I am never offended if someone takes the time to look at my closet and make an offer. I may counter, or decline, but that’s how markets work.
Feb 06Reply
moodtherapy
moodtherapy @gsalvatore we are all entitled to an opinion. I personally get offended when someone offers me less than half the price of something that I put literally hours into making. I wouldn’t be as insulted if I were reselling cheap China made jewelry but I sell e ceptional quality handcrafted jewelry. I think they should do away w offers actually. I don’t like to be obligated to take less than the asking price. You can’t walk into Macy’s and offer to pay 50%.

cabetheboy @scarlettd2113 I get what you’re saying, but with respect, your idea of reasonable may not be a particular buyer’s idea of reasonable. You say “especially when a buyer knows the value” but what about a buyer who is not an expert or a seller? There’s a big gray area between what some may see as low-balling and what a professional seller may see as just competitive. If you don’t like an offer make the sale pitch or just simply say... No!

funkyhulagirl The lowballers totally disgust me! We have to buy the things we sell, packing material, gas to and from stores & PO, and what about our time? This is a JOB! The lowballers don't work for free, yet expect us to! 😡 Posh allows buyers to make offers up to 90% off, which is ridiculous. I think it's time sellers contact Poshmark and DEMAND we be allowed to set a minimum price or maximum discount on our listings, below which offers are automatically declined.

funkyhulagirl
funkyhulagirl OK ladies, here's the lowballer to end all lowballers! Woman likes 4-5 of my things, then puts ONE top in a bundle and in comments says, "What can you do for me? I'm on a very tight budget." Before I continue, her profile pic was of her holding her dog in front of her, posed in such a way that the first thing you saw wes his "Service Dog" vest (In other words, I'M DISABLED - PITY ME!) The top was one of my own, worn once, retailed for about $69, and I had it listed for around $25.
Mar 17Reply
funkyhulagirl
funkyhulagirl Well, I have a soft heart, so I made an offer of $12. She then added ALL of her likes (all NWT) to the bundle, and commented, "Is that for the entire bundle?" Seriously? We're talking over $200 worth of stuff! I was so taken aback I replied, "Of course not!" Get this - SHE then chastised ME and accused me of trying to make her feel bad! BLOCKED!!!!! I still have a soft heart - EXCEPT when it comes to greedy Poshers with a sense of entitlement! I can't stand these people.
Mar 17Reply
rickidanae
rickidanae Totally get it- nobody wants to take anything away from hard work. However, it does make me annoyed when I see people selling items for double the value- I’ll see items for sale on websites or at discount stores like TJMaxx and then find it on Poshmark for waaay more. Also, kills me when sellers sell items for close to retail price when the item is clearly used/very worn- things that consignment shops would never take. I think we all need to have a little grace with one another.

lillypraline
lillypraline @ctlevi Then why sell here? I swear I’m not being snarky…I simply don’t understand. I only buy on Posh and I never lowball…but I would never sell here. If I sell I sell on the Bay. lol
Jun 17Reply
lillypraline
lillypraline @ctlevi My BFF had a pair of vintage Elsa Peretti jade bean drop earring she wanted me to sell for her…I told her all the options and the different fees, etc….she literally lol at Posh. We sold them on “the Bay” for $950 and after everything she walked away with most of that. It’s insane that Posh would have taken 20% of that profit!!! For WHAT?!! It’s not like you’re getting primo service or primo listing displays…I truly don’t understand the advantages for selling here.
Jun 17Reply
lillypraline
lillypraline @sjeter91 Exactly - saw a Reddit thread last night about this very subject. There wasn’t a Posh seller on there who said they became enraged when they were lowballed…and most agreed that they just laughed at those offers and moved on…or sometimes they accepted them if they wanted to get rid of the item. None of them understood any seller getting angry over something like this. It’s literally part of the process.

funkyhulagirl I'm getting really disgusted with these *@$# lowballers! 😡 Most of my stuff is NWT or NWOT. On lower priced items the listings say "NO OFFERS on items $12 and under. Posh takes a minimum $3 fee and my merchandise doesn't come from thrift shops." They still make $5 offers - they think there's a free inventory fairy and we do this just to make them happy, not support our families! 😡
Sep 02Reply
funkyhulagirl
funkyhulagirl I have a NWOT summer dress I marked down to $12. First line of the listing says FINAL PRICE - NO OFFERS! Entitled *itch puts it in a bundle (with nothing else) and asks, "What's the lowest price you'll give me with discounted shipping?" I told her off before I blocked her! 😄

trestreschic_ @funkyhulagirl Sorry.!! 😅 Do you think they’ll do something ..? Maybe not giving the option for buyers to make offers that are past a certain percent? I know there are ppl who like trading on posh so that’s why they allow $3 offers. But honestly, buyers are always going to have the advantage because they’re the ones with money on hand both for the sellers and for Posh… 😕 guess we just have to ignore the lowballers
Sep 20Reply
funkyhulagirl
funkyhulagirl @trestreschic_ Well, I've been selling online for over 25 years (since EB began), have extensive (other) business experience, and was in an MBA program. Sep 25Reply
trestreschic_
trestreschic_ @funkyhulagirl omG that’s outrageous..! 🤦🏻‍♀️
Sep 25Reply
funkyhulagirl
funkyhulagirl Ladies, I made two signs which you're welcome to use. Eventually they'll be on all my listings since most people don't see signs, but so far the one about "This is a business" (with details) is a separate post; just search my closet for items over $100 to find it. There's another one saying I don't accept or make offers on items $12 and under; so far it's in all categories except most women's clothing apart from my clearance section.
Sep 28Reply
funkyhulagirl
funkyhulagirl I put that in the listings but PEOPLE DON'T READ! Like I'm going to sell a brand new item for $5! 😡 The $2 I'd get wouldn't ever cover my COG, much less my time. I made them after I got a $65 offer on a $160 bundle of NWT items, which would have been well over 5 pounds so not only would her insulting offer not even cover what I paid for the items, I'd have to pay extra postage as well! 😡

We price our items fairly. Our solid gold is lower priced than anyone else. We don’t expect to get asking price for things. But I don’t want to give it away either. Mike

terri_hott Hi, you sent me an offer for liking the information on your site that had no item listed on it. I don’t really understand how that happened. It was the post that explained how rude lowballing is considered when making an offer. Just wanted to let you know. Happy Sunday and Happy Poshing!
