savvy_mommy @shopmplusm thanks!! I would recommend measuring both places to get a closer fit, but ultimately match your waist size as most pairs ( except 512) have wider hips that could be tailored to you perfectly.

ponfar The 501s / 505s wouldn't need any reworking. Just not be floods. When I was a model in 80s it was 501/505 on all the girls. just found my Levi's shorts from HS, and yes they fit- high waist and shredded and mended. The back says my size (28x36) I don't know the # (did they have #s in 1977 ( yes -👵🏻- and too mature to wear the amazing shorts.

This is my first time to your store...so happy I found it because I've been looking everywhere for a tapered pair of vintage 501's in light wash and Levi 721 in light blue wash. I usually where a size 24 w jeans in 7 of all man kind, Lucky, Citizens etc. but I just tried on Levi shorts I cut out of a boyfriends jeans back in the 90's, which I love, and they say 28waist 501's. they fit but I think I'd like them tighter. That being said my measurements 27 waist with no hips.

savvy_mommy @jnw97 tricky! It would be difficult to make sure vintage jeans would fit you properly without measurements because they do not stretch, being 100% cotton. You could always use a string of some kind around your hips, then use a ruler to measure the string! Lol 😘

I recommend going by measurements rather than a number, though, as two pairs of the same cut and same tagged size could be totally different if one is even 10 years older, has been worn and washed more years, or has taken the shape of a different vintage owner 😉 in my personal collection, I have a vintage jrs 3 that fits larger than my vintage jrs. 7!

savvy_mommy @amm19 you’d likely do well with a 512 slim fit tapered leg (as opposed to 512 slim fit straight leg - it will say which it is on the tag). My only pairs of that cut are 25 waist and an unlisted 26 waist. Another option that many bloggers/models do is to find a 501 button fly, which fits tight under the bum, and have a tailor take in the legs to their exact proportions. 💕
