karisrenee Note: there is never a reason to take any conversation or transaction off the posh my platform, because then, the Poshmark team cannot protect you or your information. Do not even engage with these users by commenting back, or trying to appeal to them. Their comments will eventually be removed by poshmark (who is aware of the issue). Keep in mind- These are not even real individuals behind each acct. it's a group of hackers who write programs to try to trick you.

sbfashions I made the mistake of selling 22 ladies without profile pictures and realize that they're pulling Shu scams my Syria's they're returning them through other companies like Zappos and saying that they got the wrong item each time as that was what they tried to say to posh Mark that I didn't send the correct item. Luckily I had photo proof and posh Mark believed me. I won't be making that mistake again

Aug 26Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @mungo646 hi Gloria! Welcome to Poshmark 💕 i’m sorry to hear that someone asked you for your personal contact information. You should be fine on the app as long as you do not provide any further information. The hack/scam comes in to play once they have your email address or a phone number. From there, sometimes they try to send messages from different accounts trying to get things from you, etc.
Aug 26Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @mungo646 You should be fine! I’m so glad that you came across this message and know now not to respond if you ever get another comment like that again. Now, you can click on the little flag icon next to each comment and report it if you see anything like this again. That will prevent the account from being able to do the same thing again to you or anyone else.

karisrenee @cookiejo4 I reported them both. Very obvious signs. Never ever trust anyone who requests you call or text or email them before buying here. All questions can be answered in public comments or private offer chat. Literally no other reason to reach any seller outside of the app. That’s the key ✨✨✨ if you do any of it outside the app, POSHMARK can’t protect you. When in doubt, run the other direction if you see a request for any additional contact.🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🤳🏾

happy_vegan Hey I was just looking at Find People & choosing just signed up. I will go through & follow a lot of them. However, I have started seeing a LOT of fake accounts being created by the same person or group of people. They will use the same number at the end of the @ user name and the name will sometimes have a persons name listed twice like Victoria Victoria and a bunch of nonsense letters/numbers. If you start scrolling through them you will see exactly what I mean.
Apr 11Reply
happy_vegan

May 17Reply
m0ch1
m0ch1 Hi, I’m a new seller on Poshmark and this buyer asked if I could email “her.” I thought it was weird at first but I did email her anyways. She asked for my full name, bank name, and address. I gave my information to her. But it got weird when she said the mover will pick it up and I’ll offer you extra $20 to remove your listing. That’s when I got suspicious. How do I block the scammer from seeing the email I sent to her including my information? Am I safe with the information I provided “her?”
May 18Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @jazzyaraujo I’m so sorry to hear this! Please block them immediately and forward all your correspondence to support @ poshmark .c0m ASAP 💌 You also want to change all your information and notify your bank (or whatever card company of the info you shared) of the security breach to see what they can do to protect your info. Anything you shared has been compromised and needs to change ASAP so that they don’t try to steal your identity. But the support team can help!!
May 18Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @m0ch1 so sorry to hear you’re dealing with this too! Sadly, there is no way to take back an email or block a user from receiving information that you’ve already sent 💌 whatever information you provided has unfortunately been compromised, and you’re going to want to work with the POSHMARK support team to resolve this. Suggested steps below:
May 18Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Please open the latest email that you sent to that questionable user (or the latest message they sent to you, which ever is most recent!) and forward to support @ poshmark. cOm with a message asking for assistance. They will be able to see the full exchange and help from there!💕

preppy_girls
preppy_girls @karisrenee Hi I'm freaked out. I swapped two orders (My first time) and one of the buyers that recieved the package first opened a case. I followed the PM instruction and then contacted the other buyer who is a posh ambassedor and she was willing to ship the item to the other buyer. after following PM instruction case was resolved and poshmark sent both buyers the new shipping label. But the first buyer stop responding and I think she wants to keep the one and waits for the other.
May 27Reply
preppy_girls
preppy_girls @karisrenee what should i do? both items are expensive and in same price range. I asked the other buyer to not ship it but don't know if she accepts it. I also emailed PM but they never completely read the emails to offer proper support at time. Will I be refunded ? Ithis was my first time and I did PM instruction since I thought they will be shipped back to me and I need to shipped them too the buyers again! if I knew I would choose different instruction and requested a return instead!
May 27Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @preppy_girlz Hey girl! I'm so sorry to hear that. Right now, it's a waiting game to see when your mix matched items arrive in the right place. Any updates yet? As long as you follow the PM instructions, you should be safe. They have access to all tracking label info, and they know where each of your items are. If one buyer decides to totally ghost and never respond or ship, she will be charged for the item. You did the right thing in following the instructions.
May 28Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Sadly, with a switched item, you can only really depend on your buyers to make things right. They can take their time to ship the item back- they might not do it immediately. It could be 2-3 days. But PM will make sure that everyone is properly compensated! The good news is that nothing is LOST. PM sees where each item went.
May 28Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee My advice would be to actually ease back on additional communication with your buyers if you're trying to suggest a NEW plan or steps from what PM suggested: labels are going to the buyers. They need to ship immediately to each other. That's it. | So, it THEN makes it more complicated when you ask buyer #1 not to ship yet because you're worried about the other buyer #2 who was unresponsive. Your only goal is to make sure that these packages get moving :)
May 28Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Once PM sees that buyer #1 has shipped out, they'll either remind buyer #2 to ship out OR just charge her for both items. This is worst case scenario, however. I think your buyer will respond soon & ship! Either way, just keep in mind that all 3 of you are receiving constant updates and notifications via PM, so you as the seller will not need to do much else aside from essentially communicating: "oops, so sorry! PM will be in touch with instructions to fix this for us!" and then wait it out. xo

cmongan1116 Question- I just listed a ring and within 2 seconds it was sold... I’m nervous this is a scammer with an auto setting.. there is no way she had time to even read my listing let alone make the purchase 🙄
Jul 05Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @cmongan1116 To be honest, I’m not entirely sure how someone purchasing an item quickly could be a scam. In order for someone to make a purchase through the app, they have to register a credit card and shipping address with Poshmark so that you get your shipping label immediately generated.
Jul 08Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee When someone makes a purchase from you, they don’t gain access to any of your personal information at all. The only thing that I can think of that they would have is your return address from the shipping label (which is already shared pretty freely with other strangers that are shopping/selling online).
Jul 08Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @cmongan1116 Did you end up shipping it out or speaking with the buyer at all? An easy way to test if someone is real is by thanking them for their purchase and asking if they have any questions about the item before you ship it out 💕 (that way, you can actually interact with them!) Lmk! xo
Jul 08Reply
cmongan1116
cmongan1116 @karisrenee hi, yes I took a chance and shipped it out, my earnings were just released so all is good... it was just so weird, within seconds of listing someone purchased it and another person messaged to ask if I had another one bc they missed out, literally seconds 🤔🤔🤔

coulbarr Yes! If anyone asks to email, it’s a scam. I had someone send me a fraudulent check in the mail requesting I send the additional like $2,000 back to them 🙄 note to anyone, if you ever get a random check in the mail with “instructions” it’s a fake check and will bounce if you try to deposit/ cash it.

cmongan1116 @karisrenee @coulbarr in addition to what coulbarr just said, I’m also in direct sales and we frequently get emails asking to accept a check for an order and the check will be for more than the cost of the order and we get to keep the extra money or some crap like that... it’s a real check that will cash, but it’s a money laundering scheme 😬. Most likely it’s a stolen account/identity theft.

karisrenee @alexisgorin Yeah, thankfully, they shouldn’t be able to take anything directly with just that information. I’ve heard people say that it’s dangerous to even give them your email address (hackers), but as long as you haven’t clicked on any links that they’ve sent to you, you should be fine on that end.
Jul 31Reply

karisrenee
karisrenee @sydneywhite1 Hey babe! Yeah, it seems like as long as you don’t share any personal information after connecting with them, you should be fine❣️ i’m so sorry that this has happened to you and many others. It’s really messed up how people, scammers, and bots try to take advantage like that! It sounds like the scam is just them trying to get an email thread going where they then request more information that can lead to fraud, but I think you’re safe!
Dec 18Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @200417 i’m so glad that you were able to make it through that issue without it being a huge mess! Acting fast sounds like it’s super important! 🎀 What gave you the wisdom to call and change everything? Just from seeing what other people had said?
Dec 18Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee 🚨🚨🚨🚨 HERE’S WHAT WE KNOW: Generally, it sounds like the scammers just want to get into an email thread with you and pretend to send you money/payment for an item. In that process, they ask for certain financial info to do the “transfer”. But it’s really all just a ploy to steal your information. Not to actually pay you. You should never have to share your contact information with a stranger on the app, but if you do, don’t panic just yet. There still may be time to secure your identity! 🚨🚨🚨🚨
Dec 18Reply
sydneywhite1
sydneywhite1 @karisrenee Yeah. I was dumb and sent them my name and address but they kept asking for my phone number and I at least realized from them and blocked the email. I doubt they could do anything with that information alone.
Dec 18Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @sydneywhite1 nice ❣️ yeah, at least your name and address is general enough that anyone who buys or sells from you would get that anyway (on a shipping label), so it sounds like you sniffed out the scam just in time!! ✨✨

22scampy @sbfashions same here, a woman asked for one makeup shade. Said "please send this color, I just paid for it" I shipped it the next day. Then she wants another color and has been trying to scam me for a week. This happened after she had really lowballed me. I sold it to her, and look at the mess it's caused.

karisrenee @22scampy omg that is not good. So glad that everything is documented thru Posh, so nobody can actually get over on you! The good news is, you don't owe anyone anything outside of the purchased listing ❤️

22scampy
22scampy @karisrenee I know right? I was afraid the lady would complain or try to pull more stuff. I wrote to Poshmark and asked them to look at the back & forth messages. They sent me a reply in just a few minutes and they know that it's clearly not a mistake on my end of the deal. I'm surprised that the funds went to my account because she didn't approve or acknowledge the item. I think it's been 4 days and Poshmark sent the $$$. Hope I don't hear from her!
Jun 24Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @22scampy Honestly, this is the reason why I will always recommend Poshmark for transactions, because it’s near impossible for someone like that to actually take advantage of you as long as everything is done through the platform. Some people make the mistake of taking the transaction to another easy payment app, but if it all stays on Poshmark, you’ll never be held responsible for someone else trying to get you 🤭❤️ so glad that’s all over for you!

Jun 25Reply
22scampy
22scampy @sbfashions I wonder if that's what my "buyer" was doing. My ad posted clearly that the foundations I have for sale are very hard to find discontinued colors. I'd like to see her walk into a Sephora or an Ulta and say she'd "just bought it last week!" You know what they say about karma...

sbfashions @22scampy I wouldn’t doubt it if your gut says something I would trust it I found it on here I’m usually right about people when I have a strange feeling about an address or an account especially if there’s no photo or no history or whatever it’s just better not to…as many followers as I have I still get Lured by the prospect of a potential sort of private customer because someone like my mom would never
Jun 26Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @sbfashions Yes, I always have to look at the signs like history of purchasing, any items on their page, any pictures, reviews, etc. Just like sellers & stores are vetted, sometimes you have to do a little mini background check on the customer as well if something feels off 😉
Jun 26Reply
sbfashions
sbfashions @22scampy put her picture, wouldn’t have real followers, might choose to buy some thing from me at random and look like a secret weird person but actually be completely legitimate and turning down a very good buyer for life if it were someone legit! I had a great gal that bought so much jewelry from me and she had just a completely blacked out circle for a profile
Jun 26Reply
sbfashions
sbfashions @22scampy with just letters her initials/nothing/no information/no real love notes at first/ she was a new buyer years ago. I was very mistrustful and then she ended up being a complete gem and buying $$$$!! so I was very glad that I did not discriminate against just what looked like a little bit of a shady profile however I would not normally recommend doing that and if you feel like you want to be sure just ask the person if they can explain to you
Jun 26Reply
sbfashions
sbfashions @22scampy if they’re just a new customer that joined or if there is a reason privacy just tell them that you’ve had fraud Or just that you like to be careful and make sure that you’re sending things to the correct address and the person who really is a real Poshmark customer and that you noticed there wasn’t a lot of information on their account and just wanted to get to know any of that you’d like to get to know your clients/know their name so that you could address the personal card
Jun 26Reply
sbfashions
sbfashions @22scampy like that and just kind of try to get a little more information out of them in the right way not the wrong way and if they won’t give it to you then there’s definitely something wrong. And then you should just cancel the sale of us it’s really worth it to you to try I would
Jun 26Reply
sbfashions
sbfashions @22scampy wait for another buyer that’s legitimate and willing to talk to you because if they’re not willing to return comments or able to it’s not a good sign. I mean I miss them of course and so do a lot of us but real buyers that are small won’t miss that they’ll see it and either respond or they’re shady 😜😣😆😎🙏🤯
Jun 26Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @sbfashions yeah! Every buyer isn’t someone who posts lots of pictures, and some people are brand new to the app and just haven’t had a chance to make any purchases or set anything up. So, everyone is innocent in my book until proven sketchy ✔️✔️✔️ I always give people the benefit of the doubt, but if I start to hear anything suspicious AND see that it appears to be a new page, it’s definitely a red flag to consider 🚩

m66tmp @sweet_p_posh is a scammer, never sent me my order, ignored and removed my messages.
Jul 01Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @m66tmp I’m so sorry to hear that you never received your order! The good news is, anytime a seller is unable to ship what you’ve purchased, you will definitely get your money back, since Poshmark always has your back as a buyer as well 💓 Here’s what I mean: ✨ if you don’t receive a shipping notification from your buyer within 5 days of the order, Poshmark will step in & contact the seller to ship OR help cancel this and send you a refund.
Jul 02Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee (And if Poshmark doesn’t hear from your seller within 7 days of your missing purchase, it will just automatically be refunded to you.) Now… you also mentioned your comments being deleted from your seller’s page, but that sounds a little strange since we don’t actually have the ability to delete individual comments. The only thing that you can do from the app 📱is report an inappropriate comment to be reviewed by the Poshmark team, and after their review, it will be deleted or left up.
Jul 02Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Meaning, the only way a comment you’ve left could have been deleted is if the Poshmark team also reviewed it and removed it. Either way, just keep a lookout on your inbox to hear from the support team within 5 to 7 days after your order was placed! You’ll be able to cancel with no cost to you 💌
Jul 02Reply
m66tmp
m66tmp I thought the same, but my comments has disappeared and she got me blocked to prevent further comments. I have a ticket filed to the support team and it does not looks like they has the comments deleted. They promised though to investigate the situation with the seller.

karisrenee @m66tmp hoping things come together for you soon ❤️ the Posh team is definitely going to make sure that everything is straightened out with your purchase, so I hope you’re able to find something else that you love, maybe in a different closet! Xo

golfdiva192 @lovetoshopxo I’m a 2 weeks old posher and know very little. I had my first sale and buyer got it after 2 days. Next day she requested for a refund saying the items were stained. After several msgs the last of which I said I’m new I will let postmark decide the case. Hrs later I got msg that buyer cancelled her complaint and I can redeem my money. But all conversations were DELETED Who deleted them.? Does anybody know?

golfdiva192 PS I sent pics of the STAINED item and ask them to look for the STAIN I m ready to accept return if they find the stain but before poshmark can even respond to me buyer cancelled complaint s but the whole conversation was DELETED
Aug 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @laciladi79 Hey there! Yikes! I’m so sorry that you had to deal with that, so early on in your experience with the app! But the good news is, you are in the clear. It sounds like a mistake was made, and Poshmark went in to remove any commentary that suggested the items you sent were stained, since it was in perfect condition, as you described.
Aug 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Something to keep in mind is that Poshmark is the only account that can delete comments, so if something has been removed, it’s because their team decided to remove it. That being said, if someone publicly comments on one of your listings saying that an item you sold was stained, and that’s not actually true, you wouldn’t want that shown on your page.
Aug 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee So, it’s usually a good thing when things like that are removed. Because no individual user is able to delete their own or anyone else’s comments on the app ❤️ But you definitely did the right thing in leaving this issue for Poshmark to deal with!
Aug 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee There is a series of steps in place to make sure that the buyer is protected but also that the seller is protected ✨✨✨so they actually require anyone who’s complaining of an issue like that to provide clear proof. It sounds like she could not do that, and the issue was canceled/resolved by the Poshmark team.
Aug 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee As I’m sure you know, 20% can feel like a lot in terms of commission to give up on each sale, but that percentage goes towards their team, that moderates any type of issue like this on your behalf as a seller.
Aug 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee A mistake that many new users run into is that they overly communicate with a buyer who mentions a problem. (i’ve even seen some people get into a very heated back-and-forth conversations!) But Literally any issue that your buyers may run into will need to be taken up with the poshmark support team, which gives them 72 hours to evaluate your item and take pictures of any problem areas if applicable.
Aug 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee This is just their way to protect everyone, but in terms of the conversations being deleted, I wouldn’t worry about that part too much, because Poshmark is the only entity that can delete a comment ✨so if it’s gone, it’s because the case has been closed, the issue has been resolved, or they probably just didn’t want those inaccurate/false claims on your page.
Aug 23Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee Reporting Tip: If a buyer contacts you mentioning an issue with an item that you’ve sold, do not engage in the conversation on that listing, but instead invite them to open a case using the app, which will allow them to send pictures of anything they’re describing. This also will create a private conversation between you both, which is only visible to you both and the Poshmark team. That conversation will be discarded once the case has been closed.

May 20Reply
karisrenee
karisrenee @jodiewebb368 often times, when you run across a page that shows it has multiple listings at the top, but no visible items in the closet, that account may be dealing with a technical glitch or a restriction due to a violation of community guidelines. I can’t say for sure whether or not this is the case with the user tagged above. But this is most often the reason for all items to “disappear” while still showing a listing count at the top of the page. This is typically only temporary. ❤️
