These shoes are handmade in Wisconsin using a Goodyear welt and full grain leather. These are toe capped oxfords just like the Park Avenue shoes Allen Edmonds sells for $395. The difference is these are made on their 8 last rather than their 5 last which means these shoes have slightly more room.
This pair has been worn and has flaws that will go unnoticed to anyone not wearing the shoes but are obvious to anyone wearing them. Please see pictures.

Does the tear shown extend to the inner layer? In other words if I stuck my finger through the hole can I touch my bare feet?

@aznkenshin No, the leather inside the shoe it's still in good condition. What the picture shows is best described as a crack, not a hole.
