It's a long story. The short version is, Fillyboo has declining quality issues. I recently ordered 2 dresses. Both were flawed. I got exchanges. Both exchanges were flawed. The older manufactured run was a MUCH better fit & quality despite the flaws. The newer production runs are awful!! I listed pictures to show the measurement differences. The company made me feel like I was being nitpicking but in the end did refund me. They normally don't offer refunds. So buyers beware!!

nicoleschechter So are u selling yours?
Sep 20Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @nicoleschechter No. I had to return all of them to get my money back. I was afraid to do another exchange and get stuck with another low quality set with less obvious flaws. Like I said in the reply on the other post, the photos don't do justice to just how cheap the Strange Magic duster is in person. It's like Forever21 quality for $345.
Sep 20Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @nicoleschechter If you're willing to gamble the $345 on it, by all means. I just felt obligated to give my experience for those of us who can't just throw away so much on a subpar dress. I could justify it if it were as pictured, like the older production run. Now that they just released a bunch of new styles, I suspect their focus was on the newest items. But I do think it's telling of a company that would throw away a customer who spent nearly $800 in about a month. 😐

Sep 20Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @jennymchenry It really is. I thought I found a new favorite clothing line. If they ever offered refunds for just plain dissatisfaction, I'd consider giving it another try. For now, it's too much of a gamble for me.

topdawgterry I emailed the company to get more info about their factories, it claims to be ethical, but I can't find any other info, other than made by artisans in Indonesia. I really wanted to buy a dress from here and now I really won't knowing the quality is like forever21 ugh, fast fashion at a stupid price

corasophiah Thanks for sharing. I hope whatever issues they are having they get resolved, because they have beautiful garments. However, I was debating spending $420 on a dress and now I think thats too much money to risk, so this was helpful.

nikoruns Totally not worth the money! I don’t understand how celebrities wear these dresses! I bought one for my maternity photos and a fish and eye hook was damaged. I paid $360!!! I didn’t have time to contact bc I had my heart set on it for my photos. Don’t waste your money!!!

elle90
elle90 so the company refunded you and you got keep the dress for free and you're selling them here?
Feb 14Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @elle90 No, I had to return all the dresses. I 1st purchased the little bear dress and wore it to a wedding. Only in pictures did I notice the skirt was off center. They initially let me keep it and sent a replacement. At the same time I ordered the strange magic duster. The duster arrived 1st with a flaw in the fabric (seen in the 3rd picture).
Feb 14Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @elle90 I then emailed upset because their website said faulty garments don’t happen very often (picture 2), but I had received 2 faulty dresses in a row. They had me return the duster to get a replacement. When the little bear replacement dress arrived, it fit and was cut differently and sloppily (pictures 4-8). I was going to take them both to my tailor and see what could be done to either to make at least one acceptable dress.
Feb 14Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @elle90 Before I had a chance to do that, my replacement strange magic duster came. The 2nd strange magic duster was an absolute deal breaker! It was sooooo awful!! The fabric was cheaper, the fit was way different, the hem was lopsided, and the pattern was not equally aligned (picture 2). I sent the pictures to Fillyboo. They offered another exchange if I sent them back. Since I had received 4 defective dresses in a row, I didn’t trust them to send an acceptable dress.
Feb 14Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @elle90 In order to get a refund they insisted I send all the dresses back, including the one they initially told me to keep. I packed them up, totaled my shipping, and demanded my money as soon as it was received at their US logistics address.
Feb 14Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic I did take a chance with the strange magic kimono at Free People. They are tagged for Urban Outfitters and I’m guessing are produced separately. This dress fits like the Free People product picture. It’s a bit more empire waisted compared to the billowing original strange magic duster I received. The fabric isn’t perfect either, but even though it is returnable at Free People, I liked it enough to keep it.
Feb 14Reply
elle90
elle90 That sucks :( Their dresses are so expensive so you'd think the quality would be there. Did they compensate you for shipping? Their no refund policy is pretty ridiculous!
Feb 14Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @elle90 I did eventually receive a full refund, including shipping. They said they’d reimburse for shipping because the returns were for flaws. When I sent back the first strange magic duster there was no attempt to reimburse me after. It wasn’t until I was told to return all the dresses that I pressed the issue. I sent photos of receipts from each package from the post office. As I mentioned before, they made me feel like I was being demanding and they just wanted me to go away.
Feb 14Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @elle90 They never really acknowledged how poor the quality was on the dresses they sent me, even though the pictures make it quite obvious. I think they use low wage Indonesian workers under the guise of them being artisan and each one of a kind. Unfortunately these workers lack the care, consistency, and quality control that such expensive dresses would merit.
Feb 14Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @elle90 I will not buy anything directly from them until their return policy changes. I will however give them another chance if more styles become available through Free People. They seem to only offer small quantities that sell out quickly, but to have a return policy makes it a safer bet.

chynnagrove @shoppernic Hi there, Thanks for posting this. I just found this label & love it. I wonder - are ALL of their items for maternity wear? It looks like some aren't. I'm confused about that- if u could tag me I'd appreciate it! 🌹

freshsamantha
freshsamantha Wow there is a night and day difference between the two dresses. Even the pattern is different. One looks handmade and beautiful and the other literally looks thrown together in a rush. Thank you for sharing this!!!
Mar 25Reply

shoppernic @chynnagrove I think they started out as a maternity dress line. I think they realized non pregnant women loved their dresses too. So they have started to cater to non pregnant women too.

chynnagrove @shoppernic Hi and Thank You! That's a perfect explanation that makes total sense. Much appreciated!!
Mar 28Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @freshsamantha I’m happy to share. It was a shocking difference. At least they’re starting to post photos with the cut of the newer run dresses. I added a pic to really highlight the cut difference. 1 is their new blue color, but the cut is more empire waisted & column cut on the skirt. 2nd dress is the older run which is more billowing and gown like. I LOVE the older cut. The newer cut is ok, and I might really like it if I didn’t know how much better it could look.

ginger_doll
ginger_doll Hi. I am having a major problem with Fillyboo right now. They sent me a junk pair of shoes that I paid $300 for, issued me a refund, so I ordered another pair and they arrived with a hole in them! They won't issue me another refund and are trying to tell me that it's "just how the shoes are". What did you say to them to get them to refund you??? I'm so upset right now as I am getting married in a week and these were supposed to be my wedding shoes.
Oct 24Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @ginger_doll I’m so sorry you’ve had such a hard time dealing with Fillyboo, especially before your special day!! I basically showed them contrast pictures of what the product, description, and policies on their website represent, and of all the flaws of the items they sent me. I could have done another exchange, but I was afraid of getting something I wasn’t happy with, but with less obvious flaws.
Oct 25Reply
shoppernic
shoppernic @ginger_doll I just asked for a full refund. If I were you, I’d send pictures to them. If they aren’t willing to return them, I’d let them know you’ll post a review all over social media. Good luck!!

shoppernic
shoppernic @ny2westcoast Since you blocked me from comments in your listing, I just wanted to follow up here. Your dress is NOT authentic. An authentic Fillyboo Strange Magic Duster has an embroidered pattern on the back. Misrepresenting your knockoff as authentic is wrong. And if you’d lie about something so obviously fake, I’m guessing all your items are fakes too.

lizthebiz
lizthebiz Thank you! I was thinking of ordering from them bc the kimono dress designs are just sooo cute looking, although more expensive than I think they should be (without having seen them in person). I worked for a short stint at Anthropologie years ago and it forever spoiled Anthro, their brands, and specifically how nothing was worth it and the quality was just not worth the exorbitant prices.
Sep 30Reply
lizthebiz
lizthebiz (Sorry, character limit got me so post 2/2). Cotton items like their cute cheapy t shirts were always fine. It was always the items in their magical $248, $2, $348, $498 range that had a roughly 20% fail rate (meaning at least 20% of them wouldn’t even make it out of the store room bc they came out of the packaging with defects). I didn’t order from Fillyboo for forever bc I had a fear/feeling that it could be like that and now I know. Thank you!💓
Sep 30Reply
kimberlyw153
kimberlyw153 @lizthebiz As of 10/8/20 Fillyboo does offer refunds if you aren’t happy with the item and the tags are still on. Only problem is the ~$20 shipping fee to return the item to Australia. You can do an exchange, saving you money if you do the exchange through their LA warehouse. The warehouse doesn’t accept returns only exchanges. I got most of my FILLYBOO items from Free People but if you look on Fillyboo’s website they tell you US stores that carry their brand.

malimiami
malimiami @kimberlyw153 how did you get them to agree to a refund? I ordered a dress and it's too short on me, looks silly and is not a maxi unless you are petite. The site says they only accept returns if there is a defect -exchanges only for other sizes.
Dec 22Reply
kimberlyw153
kimberlyw153 @malimiami UGH, Don’t get me started. Well, I emailed them to ask about their return policy. They said 30 days if returned to AU. The quality was great but their customer service is HORRIBLE. I’m now disputing a charge form them with my cc company now.
Dec 25Reply
malimiami
malimiami @kimberlyw153 they sold me "presale" a dress that had no sizing guide other than S,M, etc. When it arrived it looked ridiculous on me (too short) so I inquired about the length and they said it should have been longer then they wrote again and said no - that was correct but if I didn't like it I could email "exchanges@fillyboo" which I did but no response yet. Not thrilled with the customer service either. Hope you get your money back!
Dec 28Reply
malimiami
malimiami So now they’ve agreed to an exchange only ☹️
Dec 28Reply
kimberlyw153
kimberlyw153 @malimiami Fight it with your credit card company. They make up the rules for refunds/exchanges as they go along. They wouldn’t refund me so I wanted to use the credit on another item. They said I couldn’t. I asked ehh & where does it say that on their website. They never responded. The WORST!

doctalkjen OMG! I just sold one and what a horror story. I wore it once to the movies and sold it. There might have been a coke drib. So wanted me to give it , harassed to no end. The dress was still incredibly beautiful. Long story short, Yes , the dress wasn’t perfect. It was marked size medium but fit like a XL - 2XL. So she bitched that it was too small because it was marked M. I thought doing favor. It was a nightmare! Thanks for letting everyone know about their quality, it’s gone ⬇️
