kerri7764 @murray272 - I had never heard of it either until I bought these beads. I looked it up. I’m not a gemologist, but it said something about mineral fibers reflecting light. Here was some fancy technical name, my guess is that the pronunciation sounded like “cat’s eye” to someone & it was easier to say so it stuck. The last part is just my imagination filling in the blanks. 😊
