@frokkie they are 15-15.5 inches from the waist! So probably closer to shorts that you can dress up with heels :)

@blinkrocks48 I think it really depends on your measurements. I think they are meant to be fitted. They have a little stretch (normal denim stretch no legging/jeggings). Hope that helps!

@agsneed as per the Buffalo website for bottoms a size 30 is the equivalent of 31 inch waist and 40 inch hip measurements
