Unfortunately, I find it necessary, yet again, to repost this sign. I've actually been offered $5 for a designer item listed at $189 and $100 for an item listed in excess of $300. REASONABLE NEGOTIONS While I am more than willing to negotiate, I won't sell a $90 blouse NWT, never worn, for $15. I am reasonable, not desperate.

jimcherrix @jeaneparadis ☺️ Thanks. I reached the end of my rope when someone offered $5 for a $189 item. Really? 🤣

jeaneparadis @barbcherrix LOL I can relate! I just want to ignore and not even bother countering. But yours is an extreme example!!❤️

caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix hi! I’m a complete RUBE! I sold on a few other sites, & after I was haggled for DAYS, I caved (& this was after caving INSTANTLY, several times!)! I’m back at it now& I’m still lowering stuff left & right- I’m on another site too, though, and after I refused an offer, I got a message about “Well, NOW ya done it! Never refuse!” Come to think of it, that was here!
Mar 16Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix someone said that after I’ve achieved a certain “status”,I won’t HAVE to cave in! BUT- see my profile? The last 2 yrs I’ve bought 10 million things here, & LATELY, I’ve had $ woes &MAYBE ask for 1/2 price of discount, though I’ve almost ALWAYS just paid the asking price- I figured I’d get the same respect bc my status as a buyer. 1 time someone bought from me w 0 haggling I answered,” You JUST BOUGHT IT?” I didn’t think anyone DID that esp after selling for just a few days!
Mar 16Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix then I WONDER why I was such a dumdum this ENTIRE time! I never asked other people about buying, so I wasn’t so aware of haggles. I’ve Liked things & been given offers. Do you think I should keep dropping prices the way I have been until I’ve sold more stuff?
Mar 16Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix oh- when I said “half price of discount(?)” I meant I asked about splitting shipping or asked for -$6 bc I figure that’s all about the only discount people could ask for- times that I’ve done it (& I’ve only done it w $$$ items or huge bundles!) I’ve written a big note of apology- I’ve never asked for half off!

jimcherrix @caityschmaity 🤔 Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the Offer to Likers. Poshmark doesn't want us to bother people who like our items - according to their own etiquette rules and then they come up with this that just has sellers lowering their prices until they aren't making any money.
Mar 16Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @caityschmaity What I'm doing is the same as before. Lowering prices if I feel that's what's needed. I've used the offer to Likers a few times and still haven't made a single sale using it. Follow your head and your heart. 😍
Mar 16Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix yeah, I’ve heard a million times not to harass the Likers, so I try and do a public type thing... but I just saw something exactly like the brand new FP jacket that I have, and than one was $100+ !! I don’t know what I’d do if I ran the world, but I certainly wouldn’t encourage companies like PM (who do good instead of evil & encourage clothing recycling) to take 20%! That’s hardly worth ironing things and killing myself describing EVERY detail!
Mar 16Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @caityschmaity 💕 You need to remember to price your items based on what you have in them. Not just💰, but your time, effort, etc. If someone else is selling the same thing for less, let them and let the buyer get it. The right person will buy your item. Keep following people and sharing your items. Make up your own mind & do what you need to do for yourself. 😍😚
Mar 16Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix thank you for the encouragement... and one of the “ambassadors” told me to follow all her followers this week but then I started to freak out bc so MANY people at once were following me back! It’s really been less than a week since I put my stuff up- but you should see me sell at the Philly FLEA! I said it in my profile, that I’m as tough as marshmallow peeps you leave in your car, in August!
Mar 16Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix At the Flea, my friend who rented the space with me couldn’t even HANDLE watching people walk all over me, she’s a person who doesn’t UNDERSTAND wimpiness! That stuff was vintage too, I’d sewed buttons on, and soaked, & ironed so many of those things- I won’t feel so bad next time I tell someone no. The other site, right now, someone’s bugging me to swap-I thought people READ profiles!AFTER I said no,one person is still at it!🤦🏻‍♀️
Mar 16Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @caityschmaity 💋💄😚 You're welcome. Stay true to yourself and keep it real. You'll do just fine. My philosophy on following people is to follow those who are selling/buying the same sizes and types of stuff I have but not necessarily the exact same stuff. Like it wouldn't do me any good to follow someone selling kid's stuff. I'm a grandmother of 4. My days of changing diapers are over 😉
Mar 16Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix I didn’t think of that either! I DID do the thing where if I found someone who had a lot of really cool vintage stuff, I’d follow who THEY followed... but I just followed about 800++ random people (I found out that PM cuts you off after you’ve followed a certain number of people in a day)! You’re a grandmother? And your DONE w diapers? My mom took full advantage of my granny’s doting!

jimcherrix @caityschmaity 😎 Even after all my signs, I have people wanting to trade, make deals off Poshmark, etc. I have one now that wants a pair of shoes and 2 lip stains but she wants it all for the price of the shoes. Like I'm going to just give her 2 lipsticks? 🤔 Really? Not happening. 😅🙃
Mar 17Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix 2 years ago when I was JUUUST beginning to try and sell, I got requests, to “help Me get started, & people asked “Do you have any green vintage dresses?” “Do you have slips & nighties?” “I’d like to see some Free People pants!”I literally spent HOURS photographing mountains of stuff (the vintage lingerie lady was a PILL- she promised to buy a BOX full = $150 at LEAST- then she wanted only two things + wanted me to show her all my bathing suits! Only THEN I began to ignore her!)!
Mar 17Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix The FP girl said 4 items for $100, I thought that was OK, but then she changed her mind & only wanted to pay $86 for 5 things!I was supposed to pay shipping, too. Anyway I can’t BELIEVE what those people asked from me, & I always got all into it... but nothing was good enough! At least I’m not stepping into THAT again!🙅🏻‍♀️👊🏻

jimcherrix @caityschmaity 🍼 Being a grandmother means being able to hand a wet, cranky or stinky baby back to it's parents. 😅💜. Don't misunderstand, I'm a grandmother but I refuse to dress or act like one. On the other hand, I'm not going to be the older lady everyone points to and laughs at because she's dressing like a teenager. I have my own style. I have a saying I've had since I was a teenager -- if someone doesn't like me, they don't know what they're missing. 😍😚

jimcherrix @caityschmaity 🤗 Good for you. 💗💙💚💛💜
Mar 17Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix what I meant was, I took those photos JUST for those people! I sent 100 pics+ to their private inboxes! Oh and there was a majorette uniform in the BACKGROUND that (lingerie lady) decided she had to have that, but she also decided she wanted to pay me $45, only a few of the lingerie pieces were “worth something”,I was supposed to throw the majorette outfit in as a thank you gift! I told her it wasn’t worth it for $45-I think that was the only time I just refuuused!
Mar 17Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix since you were a teenager? I guess I was pretty confident about clothes I liked as a teenager too, bc I knew I’d never not be WEIRD to the other kids (we moved A LOT & I was always the new girl! Esp down South, I didn’t even TRY to fit in!)!
Mar 17Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix I’m juuuust arriving at the age where I guess I have to think about “Do I look as If I’m trying to look like a teenager?” But even when I WAS a teenager I didn’t bother! I got a lecture when I worked at Penn State (I’m a librarian but I have been since college (I was the student supervisor!) & bc I love cat eye glasses, I get the “Ha, I KNEW it, you look just LIKE a librarian!” Though I think that look is getting to be all the rage all of a sudden!

jimcherrix @caityschmaity My family is from the south as well but I grew up in Delaware. I've just always been someone who could care less what someone else thought of me or my style. Just remember that you're a good person and if someone doesn't like you, that's their problem not yours. 😎
Mar 17Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix the lecture I got @ Penn State, I was 28 and wearing a 60s dress that I loved, I used to think a person couldn’t BE indecent w/out cleavage showing, & never having HAD cleavage.. ). Everyone I worked w was my mom’s age. This woman let me have it, “You don’t go around with dresses over your KNEES! Not if you’re over 30 or MARRIED!” I’d never heard that before, @ Now, I feel stupid wearing a dress that isn’t to my calf at LEAST! @28 that woman made me feel like it was all over!
Mar 17Reply
caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix oops- I meant, @ 28 yrs old, she made me feel like it was time to pack up & go home!

caityschmaity
caityschmaity @barbcherrix thank you! You’re a very kind person yourself! You were lucky to know who you were as early as you did- I realize this about myself too. I’ve just lived in mortal fear of DISPLEASING someone- I really get a bang out of making people happy! Selling clothing online, it’s pretty much impossible! I know lots of people in Delaware, the coolest thing is NO TAXES!
Mar 17Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @caityschmaity 💚 Thanks. You are too kind. Delaware may not have sales tax but they make up for it with other taxes. 💰

caityschmaity @barbcherrix 👩🏻‍💻thank you! I’VE actually felt &acted “like a granny” all my life bc I was sick a lot as a kid- I was asthmatic & had strep all the time, & later I was a hypochondriac; when I had a baby I FRETTED like crazy! You’re right though, & I can’t believe I really listened to what that lady at work said- I thought it was a FACT! I look forward to being a granny, since now it’d be crazy to have another& atm that’d mean being a teen parent’s mom! I hope you have FUN with your grandbabies!🤱🏼

Mar 18Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @marietx 💜 I actually saw a blouse in a closet for sale for $3?! What, they're going to make 5¢? Why not donate it and take the tax write-off This is a good part of the reason people expect thrift store prices.
Mar 18Reply
marietx
marietx @barbcherrix Right?? And the back-and-forth over $1 kills me. I make my best offer, then it’s over, take it or leave it. That’s it.

nardoandbeto
nardoandbeto @barbcherrix wow! I’ve learned a lot since I started on PM this month. You are so right about low ballers. I even kept lowering my prices thinking my items were too high. It happened to me twice and I fell for it. Never again!
Nov 25Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @nardoandbeto 💕We may not be able to put an end to low-ball offers, but we can keep our dignity and self respect by saying no to low-ball offers. 💕
Nov 25Reply
nardoandbeto
nardoandbeto Well, I had another disappointment! This time, this young lady ordered a coach purse from me for $69 I initially had it for $79. She asked me prouder sale if the purse had a lining and I’m sure it’s because she could see in the pictures and I had documented in my description That that purse did not come with a lining. Well, I just got a “one” star from her stating she wants to return the bag and that I could’ve been better /improved with my description. 😧 Any advice? I’ve been very fair…
Nov 25Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @nardoandbeto ❓Did she just give you a 1 🌟 rating or did she actually open a case? If it's a 1 🌟 rating, don't worry about it. No one sees anything but your 5 🌟 ratings. If she rated it, it means your funds should have been released to you.
Nov 26Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @nardoandbeto Part 2: If she did open a case she has to describe and provide proof to Poshmark for her legitimate reason for asking for a return. When you respond, DO NOT respond directly to her. Direct your carefully and professionally worded response, with any required pictures, to Poshmark. They're the ones that make the final decision.
Nov 26Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @nardoandbeto 💕DO NOT offer to let her return the bag. All returns go through Poshmark. If she continues, let her know she would need to contact Poshmark to request a return.
Nov 26Reply
nardoandbeto
nardoandbeto @barbcherrix thank you so much.,,,. She had accepted it. Then placed the rating. And stated “ I’m returning my bag”. I will wait and see what PM does tomorrow. Once again...thanks!😊
Nov 26Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @nardoandbeto 💕So she accepted the bag, rated it and Poshmark has released your money to you. To the best of my knowledge, she can't open a case to return the item once she has accepted it. 💕

marygk56 I had an offer I accepted and she could not pay for it. That one stung!
May 17Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @marygk56 I had that yesterday, but she was the first one that when she got off work, bought the shoes with her credit card. You know I took like 30 pics of those shoes while packing them. I think some people just use the money they make from their sales to shop. Maybe I'm OCD, but I know if I have enough 💰 to pay for an item. 🤦
May 17Reply
marygk56
marygk56 @barbcherrix I think sometimes people just don’t understand how you have to work your closet constantly. I’m only in for a month and still learning! I think I’m a little on the OCD side myself!😥🤔!
May 17Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @marygk56 Working your closet is a constant thing. The sharing can be a problem too. I've had some Poshers who will share 20+ Items. It should be a share for a share but I've got 100,000+ followers. I can't do that. I'll share, but I have to keep it at a reasonable number.
May 17Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @marygk56 I think some Poshers see the # of my followers and share a lot of my closet thinking I will do a share for a share - and send the majority of their closets to my followers. Sorry, I just had that happen twice tonight and it ticks me off.
May 17Reply
marygk56
marygk56 @barbcherrix I’m glad you told me that because I did tend to share everything I thought was cute. I just began to realize that if my followers like the piece or two I share, they will check out that persons closet. I was driving myself crazy, but felt guilty if I didn’t share a lot. I’m finally realizing that I can just share a few pieces. I’m glad you reaffirmed that for me, because I’m sure I was over sharing.
May 17Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @marygk56 💕 You'll get this Posh thing down yet. 👍
May 17Reply
marygk56
marygk56 @barbcherrix thanks! Can I ask you a couple of questions? Well I guess I’m going to anyway, 😂. How many items should you share to a Posh Party? What should I do when someone likes a listing? It seems when I offer a discount I get no response. My prices are so low, that I would rather just thank them and move on. What do you think. I’m hope I’m not driving you nuts, but I’ve been you really seem to know your stuff. Thanks!💫
May 17Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @marygk56 🍷Ok, let me first thank you for thinking I've got my 💩 together. 😂 When I share to a party, I share everything in my closet that meets the theme of the party. Sometimes it's a lot, a little or none at all. I don't usually share to the last party of the day because it's always you can share everything. It's 10 pm when that party starts anyway.
May 17Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @marygk56 💰We all have the same problem with making offers/discounts. I'd say 85-90% of my offers are ignored. But then I've had the same buyer come back and purchase the item. If you use the bundle option, even for 1 item, you can make an offer without having to discount shipping.
May 17Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @marygk56 💰 Offer to likers will send your offer and required discounted shipping to everyone that liked the item - IF they haven't been sent the same item in the last 90 days. So you may have 20 likers but because you sent a previous offer for the same amount, only the likers who didn't receive that offer will get it.
May 17Reply
marygk56
marygk56 @barbcherrix thank you so much! These two things have been bothering me. I had a women give me a really hard time after I posted to a party, and I’ve been think about it since. She told me to stop posting to their closet, then wouldn’t answer me when I asked her what I did. I had just posted to a party, so I figured that was it. I am learning with experience, but your help just checked two biggies off my list. I really do appreciate it, and hope you have many sales and a great weekend!🍾🥂!
May 17Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @marygk56 💰 Be careful of the closet clear out. In order to take part, you have to drop your selling price by at least 10%. I tried it, then one day noticed Items in my closet we're under valued. So I went back and raised my prices to where I felt they should be and no longer participate in the closet clean out. Hang in there. Sometimes it's feast & sometimes it famine. Either way, have faith. You will make sales. 🎰💵🤑
May 17Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @marygk56 Obviously, she was having a bad day. Sharing to parties goes to the party feed. 🎶🎧🎶🍷😎
May 17Reply
marygk56
marygk56 @barbcherrix one last question, I promise. How do you create a bundle of one? TY🌟🌈!
May 17Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @marygk56 Once someone likes something, go to their closet. On the upper right side there's a circle with a picture in it. Click on it. It will take you to the bundle area. Up on the right side are 3 dots. Click there and select sell view (something like that). When the page comes up, go to the bottom. Before you get there it will say loading likes. Then it's just a matter of clicking the + to create a bundle.
May 17Reply
marygk56
marygk56 @barbcherrix you are an angel 😇! If there is ever anything I can do for you, do not hesitate to ask! I draw the line at cleaning windows!
May 17Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @marygk56 Funny, even when I could, I didn't do windows either. Days like today can be frustrating because of my physical limitations. But you brightened🌞 my day. Thanks.
May 17Reply
marygk56
marygk56 @barbcherrix I a. In the same boat. That is why I started posting. I feel like I’m doing something productive. I have a retail background, and mostly enjoy this. I have also cleaned out many, many years of clothes. Many for donation.

Sep 04Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @juliamariew95 💕 Thanks. It's not only Burberry. They pop up with LV, Chanel, Gucci - usually selling for only a couple hundred dollars. If you go to their closets, they'll either have only one item or they'll have multiple identical items. I've never known anyone to own 5 identical luxury designer purses or have 10 Gucci belts in various sizes. 🤦

juliamariew95 @barbcherrix oh i know it’s terrible! i’ve been telling people who liked the items and helped a few people open cases, it honestly breaks my heart 😭 there’s like 50 + accounts & people scammed out of thousands. poshmark does a terrible job of regulating it. i’ll report them and they’ll be there 3 days later

corboy Just letting you know the guy who posts LV in Michael Kors lies about being authentic.
Jan 06Reply
jimcherrix
jimcherrix @corboy No worries. if I were to purchase LV, it most likely would not be off Poshmark. items such as LV, I send the pics to my authenticator and, invariably, they only have a couple of pics which isn't enough to authentic the item.

jimcherrix Here we go again... $10 for a NWT name brand blouse with an MRSP of $189. Due to the pandemic and it's financial impact, I had lowered the price on a number of my items. I guess it just doesn't matter so at the end of this month, the price of my items will go back to their pre-pandemic prices.
